  1. Ears.. I gotta ask this question. How would you compare the Sunfire True Subwoofer Signature to the Earthquake MKIV-12? I am still apprehensive about the Earthquake for some reason. Will the Sunfire be a better sub for music and across the board in all applications? Also if you please, is the Sunfire's True Subwoofer Architectural Signature a decent choice? I only post the link below because I want to be on the same page as you. You can recite this stuff in your sleep. Sometimes I feel like I am asleep in this realm. Learning.. Learning... http://www.sunfire.com/products/subsignature.shtml

  3. Ears.. As always, THANK YOU for your expertise, invaluable feedback and information. I shall pass on your words to my friend and let him decide what is best for him. I am even considering the Earthquake now because I'll be able to "cut it low" as you describe. Either way, after reading and digesting your input, the Vel and the Earthquake both appear to be high quality products and great choices in the price range we are considering. Good words are spreading in the "States" about "The Ears." Thanks again, Charles
  4. quote: In Hollywood when a door closes the sub almost bottoms out,and when Arnold farts the seismic wave rips even the sturdiest cone from the chassis!Viva the realism You are to cool Ears. I am curious about this Earthquake line of subs. I am sure you have heard this thing. A friend of mine is also thinking of upgrading his sub too and does like a 70-30 HT/Music and he turned me on to this Earthquake line. He is thinking of buying one for his HT. How would you describe this MKIV-12 product?? As always, your thoughts are appreciated. The Velo will be ordered on Monday for me. Now my friend is another story.
  5. In the market for a sub and these two choices seem to hit the sweet spot in the $1000 price range. Room size is 16 X 20, Music/HT - 60/40. Size is important due to space limitations and placement. Thoughts would be appreciated on these two selections or any other suggestions that I've not considered. SVS is not appropriate at the moment. Thanks are always in advance. Cheers, Charles
  6. You do realize that there are a good amount of very crappy 4.1 boston multimedia systems, and the BA7800, available only from Gateway, is better than them all? ************* Yes, I thought the 7800's were an OEM Product. I have not had any trouble with them in the least when I used them. However, I did fry a motherboard and chip on the P4 2.2. More fans, more fans!!! Best Buy to my knowledge sells Creative and Hercules. I did not see Santa Cruz or any other sound cards in the local store where I live. It may vary geographically or they may have been out of inventory.
  7. I've owned and listened to the Boston 4.1 (sitting in my closet) and the Promedia 5.1's. I prefer the Promedia's over the Boston's. Richer, fuller sound and the bass for my ears is much better. However, the cost is substantially higher on the Klipsch product and does not meet your budget constraints. I have not listened to the Klipsch 4.1 system. Many of the people here are raving about the Logitech's cost verus performance. Both Klipsch and Logitech are available at Best Buy. Not sure about the Boston's product availability there as they came with my Gateway PC. However I am sure they are available online. My suggestion would be due to Best Buy's lucrative return policy, try Klipsch, Logitech and whatever you want. Put them on a credit card, set them up IN YOUR HOME and do a comparison of your final two choices. Listen for a week or two and then return the system that you don't want and get the credit back before the billing cycle is completed. Personally, unless I am able to hear speakers in my home in a side by side testing environment, a decision is difficult. This is contingent upon not being blown away by the differences between my choices in the store. However, I am not convinced that Best Buy is the place to truly reach such a decision. Always trust YOUR ears. No one else's. Good luck. Hope this helps. Cheers..............
  8. Erdric, I was reading through some past threads on the Klipsch site and thought this might provide more choices for you. If this product applies to your needs, I would suggest it only because it has worked well me on some very expensive in home furniture such as Stickley, Henkel Harris or Councill. The Guardsman product works very well and was recommended to me by these fine manufacturers of quality, case pieces. They have various products to perhaps fit your needs. http://www.guardsman.com/furncare/gmanprod.html http://www.guardsman.com/ Cheers..
