  1. http://www.klipsch.com/products/discontinued/details/promedia-dd-5-1.aspx does anyone know how i can control the DD-5.1 without the remote? if not, where can i find one? thanks!
  2. I was wondering if it was safe placing the SWS sub on top of the 5.1 sub? It seems that the SWS weighs more (FedEx says it weighed in at 33lbs) but the 5.1 sub is wider. I think this question was asked before but I dont remember anyone giving a clear answer and I would also like to hear what one of the mods has to say (since they know of the official specs). Also I noticed the switches on the back panel and was wondering if I needed to change from the defaults so both subs dont cancel each other out. The way I have them now (the SWS on top of the 5.1) it seems as if the SWS is pumping out most of the really noticeable bass while the 5.1 is hardly breaking a sweat...?
  3. I like the clicks, they let me know from across the room (were I can't see the LCD) that I am indeed switching the inputs... I suggest that yeah you should go find another product seeing as your basis for condeming the DD-5.1 is based on something so trivial, obviously you don't deserve a Klipsch product. Oh and good luck finding a receiver of the same quality as the DD-5.1 for the same price
  4. Justin you just made me buy an SWS for my 5.1s you bastard! lol I don't know how I'm going to pay off my credit card now but at least I got free shipping and a shirt
  5. No not on the DD-5.1 on the speakers he means.
  6. No the DD-5.1 doesn't support DPL2, only the original. I'm not sure if it will still work because I tried it on my PS2 with NFS: Hot Pursuit 2 and it didn't do anything when I selected DPL2. I have no idea why Klipsch didn't include support for this popular format in the DD-5.1, maybe to keep the price down?
  7. the DD-5.1 wasn't available when the 5.1s came out, and BTW the DD-5.1 is basically a receiver and that price is low for that kind of audio equipment (although it does have a limited number of inputs and is missing ProLogic 2), other similar products *start* at $250+
  8. I'm looking at mine right now and they seem to be 6 inches long more or less. They look some what like this: http://www.cablesnmor.com/stereo-y.html except instead of the 2x male 3.5mm plugs there are two standard RCA plugs
  9. http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/gold/category.cgi?category=200&item=SP-DCC-2&type=store is that what i think it is?
  10. yeah thanks here too, I was about to post something about this but decided to search first...the ground cheater worked (I had some extra ones lying around for some reason too)
  11. We have the same problem: http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=27199&sessionID={EC1EB651-59F9-4337-B6D6-64AA7B8585C7}
  12. you need this one: http://www.vss-electronics.com/blss-1m.html that one is overpriced tho because it is a Monster cable, you can probably find one cheaper at places like Wal-mart like Justin says (don't go to RadioShack tho they overpriced their toslink cables when I went...the generic non-Monster ones too)
  13. wait ok so i connect the RCA end with the signal to the coaxial in? that is the only connection i have left
  14. Just wondering if there is a cable like this. I want to hook up my sound card via the 1/8" digital out to my DD-5.1 but the only connection I have left is the coaxial in. Is there anyway to connect these two devices this way?
  15. yeah i realized no sound cards can decode digital signals yet (aside from the nforces)...dont matter anymore tho' cause my DD-5.1 just arrive this morning
  16. can it be used in the same manner as the DD-5.1? If not why? thanks
  17. http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F002%5F002%5F015%5F000&product%5Fid=15%2D1580 whats the difference between that one and this one: http://www.vss-electronics.com/blss-1m.html they look different, or is it just me?
  18. justin can you recommend any sites to buy the optical cable from? the connections on the Fortissimo and DD-5.1 look different... im not sure how male and female connectors are supposed to look on an optical cable and the ones ive seen dont even look right
  19. ok thanks... and yeah for what i paid for this TV it better have Audio Out and every other connection possible (i checked the manual and on the back of the TV it has a big AUDIO OUT sign on it )
  20. well i just ordered the DD-5.1 and i currently have no sound card (im deciding between the audigy2 and the fortissimo III) what i want to do with this setup is to have the MP3s and DIVX/DVDs on my computer play through the promedias which are already hooked up to my PS2 and TV (or will be as soon as i get the DD-5.1) i already have video working as my computer and TV are side-by-side and i can get the video from my computer/DVD-ROM to my TV via an Svideo connection, all i need now is a way to get the sound from my computer to the promedias without directly hooking them up to the sound card
  21. Also, were would I get the optical cable to connect both these components to each other from? Any pics (I have no idea what these cables even look like as I've never worked with them before)?
  22. Quick question, are these the cables I would need to connect this TV's audio outs to the DD-5.1's AUX IN? Also this TV does a pretty good job with its simulated sorround when watching channels like HBO so I'm wondering will this signal get passed on to the DD-5.1 and then to my Promedia's or will the DD-5.1 just receive stereo signals (speaking of which, can the DD-5.1 simulate sorround from stereo sources?)
  23. Will it work? Also, will this connection be better than if I had the Audigy2 connected to the DD-5.1 (since the Audigys use the 1/8" SPDIF connector as digital out)? I would also get full 5.1 sound coming from the sound card into the DD-5.1 am I correct (since the card it supposed to send all the 5.1 channels via the optical connection as apposed to only sending stereo when connected with a mini-RCA cable as in the case of a card like the Audigy2)?
  24. Yeah I tried ebay with no luck so I came here, I might have to give in and pay the 170 bones soon as I want to get my mini-HT setup going. Anyone?
