  2. Hey thanks! Actually it does. Lets me know I need to distinguish between the subwoofer and a woofer on a regular speaker. ------------------ the m00n system RF-3II Front floors RC-3II Center RS-3II Surrounds RSW-12 Subwoofer Harman Kardon AVR 520 Toshiba SD 3205 DVD Samsung 27" Flatscreen This message has been edited by m00n on 04-16-2002 at 10:57 AM
  3. Ya, well this sux! I can see many Many MANY battles a head between me and my wife. Belive me I know all about new money sucking technologies. Seems as though ever few months, there is some new sound card or video card I *THINK* I need for my PC. BUT, PC goodies are a lot cheaper. Ya, I just bought this thing on Sunday and I am already wondering if I should have gone with the RS-7 line. Not that my RS-3II's sound bad. But I know there is something out there that sounds better. I don't know the audio lingo and technologies, but I do like a great sound. I will never forget my first THX entro experience in a theater. My entire body was one HUGE goosebump. I about crapped myself. Don't remember the movie, but I remember the THX entro. ------------------ the m00n system RF-3II Front floors RC-3II Center RS-3II Surrounds RSW-12 Subwoofer Harman Kardon AVR 520 Toshiba SD 3205 DVD Samsung 27" Flatscreen

  5. Hey boa12 Thanks dude! When i get home from work tonight I will change the way I have it set. Actually I have not been able to make any settings like you mentioned. I need the remote control to get access to the on screen menu. For some reason the remote never got put in the box. Hell for that matter neither did the FM or AM antinas. I called the dealer on this and they had no problems ensureing I was givin the missing stuff. I have no doubts it's going to take me a month or so to get everything figured out and tweeked just to the way I like it. ------------------ the m00n system RF-3II Front floors RC-3II Center RS-3II Surrounds RSW-12 Subwoofer Harman Kardon AVR 520 Toshiba SD 3205 DVD Samsung 27" Flatscreen
  6. Hey Ray, seb had said quote: the Ref woofers are known to dent super easily! Thats all. Plus I am very new to all this and very paranoid that I will toast my speakers. I was just wanting to make sure that we were on the same track as far as which speaker we were talking about. For all I know it may be perfectly safe to do that to some speakers where you can't with others. Just being a cautios proud new papa. ------------------ the m00n system RF-3II Front floors RC-3II Center RS-3II Surrounds RSW-12 Subwoofer Harman Kardon AVR 520 Toshiba SD 3205 DVD Samsung 27" Flatscreen

  8. Again, thats seb. However it's not on my sub. It's stuck to a cone on one of my fronts. 9. Hey thanks seb! That did make perfect since. Something tells me this is one of those, "What sounds good to you" questions, but is there a general concencus as to what it (my subs LP crossover) should be set at for (A)movies and (B)regular stereo music taking my speakers and receiver into consideration? What about dolby digital vs DTS? Lets say I am watching a movie with DTS. Would I set the crossover differnet than I would for Dolby Digital? Or is that just getting too nit picky? ------------------ the m00n system RF-3II Front floors RC-3II Center RS-3II Surrounds RSW-12 Subwoofer Harman Kardon AVR 520 Toshiba SD 3205 DVD Samsung 27" Flatscreen This message has been edited by m00n on 04-16-2002 at 01:17 AM

  11. Ohhhhh... Ok so I should take my system, put all the speakers back into their boxes and take it back to the store. Cause I obviously don't diserve to have this. Ok, so that dial on the back that I thought was a secondary volume control is the low pass crossover. Geeze yet another something to learn about. So, how do I figure out what this should be set at? Ya know, if I had the money I would hire a professional to come to my house and teach me all this stuff before I frick something up. ------------------ the m00n system RF-3II Front floors RC-3II Center RS-3II Surrounds RSW-12 Subwoofer Harman Kardon AVR 520 Toshiba SD 3205 DVD Samsung 27" Flatscreen
  12. Ok, to the sub has 2 volume controls. One on the back of the sub, and one on the side. Is it ok to have the one on the back turned all the way up and leave it there, and use the side volume control to do my actuall volume adjusting? ------------------ the m00n system RF-3II Front floors RC-3II Center RS-3II Surrounds RSW-12 Subwoofer Harman Kardon AVR 520 Toshiba SD 3205 DVD Samsung 27" Flatscreen
  13. kenratboy, I just got my setup up and running. Let me tell you, the RSW-12, is incredible. At least in my opinion. I have never had a home theater before, so your getting an opinion from a newbie, but OMG, it rocks! To be honest, with my size living room, I just can't image needing anything bigger than that. I think I only have it turned up about half way. ------------------ the m00n system RF-3II Front floors RC-3II Center RS-3II Surrounds RSW-12 Subwoofer Harman Kardon AVR 520 Toshiba SD 3205 DVD Samsung 27" Flatscreen
  14. Ok, I admit it. I won't hide it. I am very audio challenged. I don't speak the speak, talk that talk, because, I simply don't know it. . But I am trying to learn it. . As a matter of fact, in a computer gaming forum I hang out in a lot, they nicknamed me the Askinator 2000 cause I ask so many questions. . Anyway, I was hoping that someone could tell me what crossovers are for, what they do. I have read here in the forum people talking about them and the various subjects that refer to them. I was hoping someone could help me understand this subject better. 15. Must have come from the factory this way, but there is a small sticky patch of something on one of my RF-3II cones. Almost looks like clear surup or something. How can I get it off? What would I need power wise to push about 4 transducers? Any suggestions. I kinda like harman kardon. But would it really matter considering they don't produce sound. Well, let me restate that, the ones I felt didn't produce sound, just some sweet vibration. This guy had 3 in front of this couch, then 3 in his couch. Yes, I said IN his couch. Somehow he managed to get them mounted in his couch without tearing it up. I was just insane. ------------------ the m00n system RF-3II Front floors RC-3II Center RS-3II Surrounds RSW-12 Subwoofer Harman Kardon AVR 520 Toshiba SD 3205 DVD Samsung 27" Flatscreen
  17. Na, I didn't get them for $800.00, I just talked them down $800. I went to Sound Distributors . They have a couple of Reference II series packages for $2169 before shipping. I printed off the package I wanted and went to the local dealer. I walked in told him I was ready to buy today, I had the money all he had to do was match this price. Before I even went in I was willing to match up to the speaker price as well as the shipping costs. Shipping was an additional $206 or something like that. We dickered and dealed for a few minutes, I finally went up an extra $100.00. So, basically, i got that set for $2469.00. That was $800.00 less than they wanted. Oh and let me tell you, that RSW-12 is just out of this world! (Well it is to me anyway) So, for an extra $100.00 over what the internet price was, I get the luxery of having a local Authorized dealer here in town. That extra $100 is very well worth it for the convience. not to mention if something does go wrong, I don't have to pay for shipping. So in a way, that extra $100.00 pays for itself. Oh, and by the way, the store where I bought them was at "The Good Guys" in Beaverton Oregon. The only thing that pissed me off about them was that they had me convienced that I NEEDED a $700.00 set of cables or it was just going to sound like pure sh1t. Needless to say, I went the cheap route on the cables and got their best cooper stranded wire. I would really like to know if that expensive wire really would make that much difference. ------------------ the m00n system RF-3II Front floors RC-3II Center RS-3II Surrounds RSW-12 Subwoofer Harman Kardon AVR 520 Toshiba SD 3205 DVD Samsung 27" Flatscreen This message has been edited by m00n on 04-15-2002 at 11:33 PM

Oh, I would not want to spend more than 400.00 for 4 of them. 19. Hey skonopa! I too am a software engineer. . And just like you, I just got my first klipsch system. However, I started from scratch because I didn't anything but a TV and DVD. Got it yesterday but still have not had a chance to get it setup. And like you, I have to wait for my surrounds. They are on back order. Bums me out, but what can ya do. I need to figure out if I can still play my center without the two surrounds. Or am I stuck in stereo mode until they arrive. Anyway, congrats! ------------------ the m00n system RF-3II Front floors RC-3II Center RS-3II Surrounds RSW-12 Subwoofer Harman Kardon AVR 520 Toshiba SD 3205 DVD Samsung 27" Flatscreen This message has been edited by m00n on 04-15-2002 at 11:39 AM

  22. Well, I ended up NOT buying on the internet, but I did take an internet quote and made them match. Well, tried. I got them down to $100.00 over what it would have cost me to have purchased the speakers and have them shipped. Friggen sweet deal. The guy told me, (and I take this with a grain of salt), in the 2 years I have worked here, I have never seen a sweeter deal. I ultimatly talked them down $800.00. ------------------ m00n's lunar system RF-3II Front floors RC-3II Center RS-3II Surrounds RSW-12 Subwoofer Harman Kardon AVR 520 Toshiba SD 3205 Samsung 27" Flatscreen
  23. Ok, I am reading about the RSW-12 sub. It says about the input: quote: LINE IN This input is designed as a general purpose input for the sub. Depending upon the position of the "Low Pass Enable/Disable" switch, this input can either be filtered by the built-in Low Pass(LP) crossover, or unfiltered for use as an LFE input with an external crossover. Ok so what is LFE? Do I want LFE Enabled or dissabled? What polarity do I want 0/180? Oh and one more VERY important question. This sub has two speakers, yet only one cover. That just scares the crapola out of me considering I two boys. A one year old and a four year old. Little boys like to poke at things. Can I go down to some store and get a metal grill and mount it to the sub cabnet with wood screws without voiding the warrenty or having a bad affect on the sound of the sub? ------------------ m00n's lunar system RF-3II Front floors RC-3II Center RS-3II Surrounds RSW-12 Subwoofer Harman Kardon AVR 520 Toshiba SD 3205 Samsung 27" Flatscreen This message has been edited by m00n on 04-15-2002 at 02:04 AM

  25. WHOOO HOOO! Got it past my wife, and was able to get it. Now I can update my sig from the wanna-be status to proud owner status. Also, I took all your guys advice and bought from a dealer. However, I did take in a quote from a internet distributor. I worked them down $800.00. Reference 3II Series all the way around. RC-3II RS-3II RF-3II RSW-12 I haven't hooked it all up yet, but I can't wait to hear that RSW-12 sub. Bet it's gonna rock! Now then I have a setup/config (first of a long string to come I am sure) for you all. The sub came with right/left inputs. The monster cable came with a splitter, but the package says, that if the sub has a left/right, I only need to plug into the left? Anyone know for sure? Should I use the splitter and connect into both the left and right? Thanks all. You all have been great at helping me decide what to get and for talking some since into me. ------------------ m00n's lunar system RF-3II Floorstanding RC-3II Center RS-3II Surrounds RSW-12 Subwoofer Harman Kardon AVR 520 Toshiba SD 3205 Samsung 27" Flatscreen This message has been edited by m00n on 04-15-2002 at 01:24 AM
