  1. Just revisiting this old thread after doing some remodeling around the apartment. Right now the Jamo 809s are sereffects. Side surrounds behind the couch in my living room lol. I'll say after living with them... they served there purpose and I saw that they have dipped in price even more. Hard to compete with that price point. The sound just seemed to come from the front of the room where my TV is, which wasn't bad, as I have no center speaker. With the klipsch rp260s.. the sound seems more precise and I can distinctly tell when sound is coming from left or right which really adds to the surround sound effect. I guess the jamo soft dome tweeters left me craving the high and clarity of the horn tweeters. Also the bass just doesn't compete with the klipsch at all. As one might expect.. the jamo is a budget compromise speaker. if your budget is in the 200 dollar range for a set of towers... hard to beat I suppose. In conclusion (assuming we are fans of klipsch) if you can find a deal on previous generation rp line... go that route since they seem to be half the price of the latest and greatest being pumped out. I would once again pay double the jamo price for rp260s any day.
  2. I tilted the speakers inward. Ran the room correction, then implemented dynamic volume eq and boom. I'm completely satisfied with the performance of this set up and for a third of the price from my main set up.. it sounds outstanding
  3. https://photos.app.goo.gl/saMny16RFBQ6a99e8 While.i could have got the Yamaha rxv385.. I picked up a marantz sr5005 for the same price. Way more power. I want to say it's 100 per channel. It has hmdi arc and so I can use the cec which was a big deal. I gotta say the set up on the thing compared to my brand new marantz 1608 was tricky... To say the least. So I now how the jamos set up and while sound is good... There are two things that I noticed pretty quickly.. 1. There's no dynamic sound control feature like on the new one where you have to turn it up loud to here voices in movies, the boom action kicks in and is louder than hell. On the newer marantz... It tones down the sudden loud scenes to flatten out the volume a little bit. Works really well. 2. I don't know if this is the speakers and tweeters or the decade old receiver that doesn't have the newest format decoder downmixing capabilities...but the left and right channels aren't bouncing sound around the room as much as it sounds like sound is just coming from the front. With my rp260s and new marantz.. even though I just have front towers and a center, the surround sound mode does sound like I'm getting surround effects .
  4. I have nailed down a Yamaha receiver for a good deal that quotes 70 watts at 2 channel at 8 ohm. I'm thinking of swapping the rp260s on to that. The jamos are waiting at the store for pick up. I have a marantz 50 wattsx7 channels.. and I'm thinking bi amping that to the jamo should more than satisfy any power hungry issues. Something's getting bi amped because I just ordered a bunch more banana plugs. The Klipsch I found on Craigslist are still there. No response from the seller
  5. Thanks man. I had a feeling that might have been the issue
  6. Thank you billy on for your feedback and encouragement to dig in deeper into Craiglist as I just found a deal on Klipsch rf52 that go down to 36. So I get the klipsch horn and woofers... Just what I was looking for.. and for 250.. ! Ive sent an email already as to when I can listen. I can still turn down the jamos as I haven't picked them up yet.
  7. I stand corrected about the rf15. They are rated by Klipsch down to 46hz. I've included the spec sheet below I'm hoping your right about the sensitivity issue. It might not be a big deal if I don't plan on playing them loud. So if Mopar Dave says they sound good, then that's a a good sign right?!
  8. Exatcly what I did at Fry's... I listened to each of the speakers on the wall. The jamo 305 and 307s sounded alright in the store. After first listening to the Andrew Jones towers first..i said I wanted to hear the jamos...The worker said the jamos sound like crap and really tried to push the JBL sound bars on me lol. He had no idea about the deals the Fry's website had running.
  9. What's hilarious is that these jamos are on sale on Craigslist for 500.. it appears someone is buying the Fry's alert deals... they are currently on Fry's for 280...then they try to turn around and flip them to people on Craiglist. It's pretty wild how people not in the know think the mrsp is the going price for speakers... When if you just search online through deal alert web sites... You regualrly get them them brand new for less than 50 percent off the original price from reputable dealers Actually maybe these flippers are smart if it works... Because if they can't flip them on Craiglist within a month.. they can return them.lol I don't think Fry's has a restocking fee.. I just bought them and if I don't like them for any reason.. I can return.
  10. Sorry I just replied on the other thread! Thank you for moving over here though since we were on the verge of hijacking the other thread
  11. Don't apologize for the 3rd degree lol I appreciate the attention to detail... The jamo is rated down to just below 40hz... There are 3 seperate 5" drivers and the woofers appear to be similar to the Img design in looks and material on the newer klipsch reference line. And the $270 is for the pair. Sensitivity rated at 90db. The rf15s is dual 5.25 inch drivers.. cermetallic of course with titanium tweeters. Sensitivity 95... Bass drops off at 50 according to cnet... $300 used and reconditioned. These Rf7s on eBay are wayyy better deal.
  12. Hey thank you for the welcome and for the response! I'm looking for the best deal I can find.. around 300 bucks. For floorstanding speakers. The rf15s are in great shape as are the sf2.. My understanding is that is rf15s don't go below 50hz on the low side. I did not plan on adding a subwoofer. I'll be pairing with an older receiver off Craigslist as there are plenty for sale In my area for hella cheap. With The sf2.. it's a little short for the set up but honestly my main concern there is with it being as old as it is and being far below reference quality...I haven't heard them basically. And not sure how they will compare to what I'm used to. I upgraded from rp160m to rp260f in the living room and loving that set up in my smallish apartment living room. This will be for the bedroom. Basically looking for the best deal around 300. They will be used for movies 90% medium loudness, low enough bass that I don't have to add a sub. I'd like clear highs...The horns forwardness almost bounces around my room to give a surround feel without having surround speakers. I have seen rf3.5?? Maybe.. the ones with the powered sub on bottom but Id rather not get involved with powered speakers that are that old. Plus I've read reviews of humming coming from them. As of now I have my finger on the trigger to buy the s809s jamo towers with 3 5" drivers and soft dome tweeter... Only because they are on sale from 699 to 280. They have a good height. And the forward port works with my bedroom. Maybe if I'm patient, a steal of a deal on some Klipsch will come around though.
  13. I downloaded Kodi to my fire stick 2 or 3 years ago with a simple YouTube guide... And loved it for a little while. Now none of the movies will play.. from any available source on Kodi.. at first I think the industry got hip and started posting bogus movies then copyright infringement started screwing it up. Is anyone else still able to watch movies and shows through Kodi?
  14. I actually meant to quote mopardave above.
  15. Thank you for the response and I have heard nothing but good things about the older jamo speakers from before Klipsch bought them out. Its kind of strange how little reviews there are.. they are clearly more popular over seas. The bulk of discussions seems to be about the clean look to them and the gimicky upfiring Atmos connection built in which I would not even be using. I really wish a good deal on some Klipsch floor standers would pop up. The only concern for me with the jamo is that the sensitivity rating is not up there with klipsch
  16. I'm looking for used Klipsch floor standers... under $300.. This would be awesome if only... I lived on that side of the country. I need a deal like this near Alanta. Or I'm going to grab these jamo s809 floor standers on the Fry's deal. 60% off. Or there's the rb6ii book shelf for $200 at Fry's. I really would love a used pair of klipsch towers. I think I need the klipsch sensitivity since I'll be pairing with whatever cheap used receiver I find online. The best options I'm seeing near me are sf2 for $225 or rf15 for $300. 🤔
  17. Thank you good sir... My thoughts exactly... I own Klipsch and Klipsch owns jamo... So I was looking for insight on people who have experience with both to chime in. They are not horn loaded, so I get that part.. the tweeter is soft type. These speakers will be played at low to medium volume for movies in the bedroom 90 percent of the time. "Our partners will be pleased to learn that distribution stays the same and Jamo is a fully funded, independently operated company under the Klipsch Audio parent company."
  18. I believe Klipsch now owns jamo... Or at least have many collaborations going. Perhaps they wanted to get in on a budget laid back sounding speaker. I went to Fry's and they sound good. I'm looking at budget options for the bedroom. So with that in mind...the s807 sound great.(807 2 drivers, 809 3)Imho.. Polk t 50s are trash. The JBL budget towers at Fry's...trash....but pionoeer Andrew Jones towers actually sound alright. Big value for the money at 180 for the pair. The jamo have a tad Fuller, cleaner sound. But they looks lot more premium. Just a touch more sensitive at 90db vs 88db.. 8 ohm vs 6 ohm Nominal Impedance. Both go to low 40s for bass. The specs are pretty similar but the jamo sound was a tad more refined. If the jamo wasn't on sale I'd go for the Andrew Jones.. but it's a tough decision at this point.. I will be buying a used receiver off Craigslist or something. So the justification to myself is maybe the slightly higher sensitivity will favor the jamo. basically I spent all my money to get the reference premium set up with a marantz in the living room. So for the bedroom I'm going into the save as much as possible realm.. without it sounding like garbage.lol. My other option is to keep watching for fire sales... Find some Klipsch on a clearance liquidation sale or used market.
  19. I have to rp260s and a rp250c for the living room and am very pleased. I'm now in the market for bedroom speakers and came across jamo s809 towers for half price and am tempted but having trouble finding personal experience stories. Does anyone have any thoughts on these before I pull the trigger. I was thinking about bookshelves and a sub but at the half off price I was thinking I might be satisfied with just the towers since just the klipsch towers work in the living room. Apartment living. The klipsch are more than enough for me

  21. Thanks for the suggestion and I just sent them messages. Doesn't hurt to ask! I could definitely strap, drill and screw some kind of home made supports but I don't even own this place... I'm trying to find more info on lacha Mart. It is hosted by Shopify. They do not have a number listed. The address for the wharehouse shows up as a residence/ house on a street corner. They do have ads running on Google and Yahoo.
  22. I found a deal and jumped at 250c for under 200 bucks and altered the tv console to make it fit. took out about an inch out of the back overhang lip, slid it in and... Perfect fit. I'm pretty satisfied. I'm happy with my set up for now with the rp160m with one thing that's making me want to upgrade... The stands are wobbly.. they seem a little big to wallmount. I could buy more furniture to have them stable... But I'm thinking this would be a good time to trade them in for the floor standers before my return window is up.. the only catch is I'm worried I might loose up to 75 bucks in shipping cost to mail them back. It sucks I just missed the killer Fry's deal rp260f $200... I call them and they quoted me $500 for the last one.. seems they just had that deal to make room for the the newer model floor standers. Looks like I can now pay 305 plus tax (authorized) or there's this site called lacha Mart with cheap prices.. considerably cheaper but they are not an authorized dealer and I can't find any info or reviews about them anywhere
  23. 😂🤣😅 True! I'm here for a good time, not a long time. Of course I try to be a good neighbor.
  24. Owell, they are sold before I could get a response from the seller. It seems there are quite a few people constantly watching for these kind of bargains. Thank you for the response though willand. Now to decide if I should get an older center if another deal should arise or just bite the bullet and get a new rp250. Of course I want one of the 4 woofer centers but I can barely even crank my rp160s up enough before you can hear them down the hall in my apartment building!
  25. I just bought a marantz NR1608 and rp160s.. right now I'm thinking about going to check out an old set of Klipsch for sale.(2004 era maybe) rc25 center and rs25 surrounds.. with a JBL sub and old dennon receiver all for $225. They also have have rf15 towers for $390. I can't tell by the Pictures if there in good shape, but they still have original boxes. Will the center and surrounds go good with my newer bookshelves? They are pretty old but my gut tells me they'll blend well with same cermetallic woofer and ti tweeters. Timbre close enough? Pretty tempting to complete the 5.1 set up for less cash than I was thinking about spending for just the next add on...the center What should I look out for? Thoughts?
