  1. random association dumb question what were pants called before they paired them? a sarong?
  2. never had scrubs... but if the drawers have a drawstring, it would be a no go. I'm so thin, the string cuts into my hips/waist and pinches a nerve
  3. @Tarheel I used to have a pair of white sailcloth painters' bib overalls... Really liked them. The material was lightweight... for bibs
  4. I'm on a 5 year plan... I'm 2 or 3 years in...
  5. ummmm When I was "working" at a friend's ranch, he made jerky by hanging salted/peppered beef on the clothesline... serious there is a restaurant in Tucson that has a rack on their roof to make it.
  6. 2000 miles west... Tucson Our "monsoon" is Gulf moisture
  7. There are a few thing I would put in the drier. Those and blue jeans. My sentiments exactly. Feel the same about watching dramas on tv. ...if I want for drama, all I have to do, is look out the window. We come off the roof snowblind 100 day of 90`+ Welcome to Tucson...c/p While the area frequently logs more than 100 days of triple-digit heat annually, the record for the longest run of 100-degree days is 76, running from June 10-August 24, 1993. The second longest string drops to just 64 days, observed in 1989, from June 7 to August 9.May 14, 2019 I imagine these number are just average for Phoenix. I don't think Phoenix became a city until after A/C became readily available.. Mornin' All Closing the house is an option today. Low 90's today. 55` now. Fresh coffee this AM. First cup, even. Usually I have to dispose [drink or pour down the drain] of leftover. All I have on the docket is chasing wilting plants. I used a drip line for 2 years.... resulting in 2 crop failures in a row. I'm using "overage" from 3 years ago. Lucky it held up in dry storage. Some of it needed ageing... the rest got kinda "dry". Been considering getting a small freezer and vacuum packing gear. wife made "tacos" last night. Except we have flour tortillas. Told her that that isn't tacos... it's burritos.
  8. ...and when you get done with the rain, send it our way. Seriously, those storms in the gulf can undo our rainy season... featured the end of ths month.
  9. @Kettle Moraine Klipsch Welcome! I wear a sarong, have less than $2000 in my system....If I can fit in, you'll be fine There are some very nice and well informed people around here. Passionate, too. Which can give rise to some "attitudes". Like [watch this] mentioning Bose as great....
  10. It is never that warm in the AM here. The cold nights can catch you off guard. Have to tell the kids to take a sleeping bag when they overnight at the lake. Tucson will have temps like you describe. It's 10 -15` warmer in the AM. Highs are only a few [5 or so] degrees cooler here.
  11. you can... you don't have the weather to do it there, though Our R/H is very low. Right now, hanging the sheets on the clothesline is near futile. They are dry before you get them hung up.
  12. there was a time when I got tired of ahi. Not junk ahi ... sashimi grade. I used to go blue water fishing once a week.... and then family matters dictated I come back to the mainland. Still here, 22 years later. Not as warm today. It's trade off. 95` and wind. That's a little to high to call it a warm breeze. Not very comforting. The sun didn't have that searing quality, though. That was def better. The 88` that I have the [doghouse] A/C set to still feels good. I'm about to play frisbee with this computer. Trying to stream music today.... hissing and sputtering, one channel fading in and out. Prolly should look into clearing cookies and do it w/o wiping my passwords. Getting rid of some clutter may help? I don't wanna have to buy a computer. the school gets rid of old [3 or 4 years] computers. Might look into snagging one exclusively for streaming music. If I do pay spotify to upgrade, will that improve the quality? I'm still on the free side. Glad they aren't obnoxious about their commercials. They could have a squawk siren for 25 seconds and then say "Isn't it worth $10/month to not hear that?"
  13. we have swallows nesting here They just fledged. One chick. The other died in a fall from the nest. Twice. We have cats, too. First fall, both chicks were on the ground, one of our cats staring at them. I gather them up and place them back in the nest. Two days later, one one the ground. Parents raising hell.. It died. The other fledged OK. A couple day ago, cat was hanging on the inside of the screen door... a shape on the other side. Went out to see what it was. A fledgling. Figured it was the one left... Looked up and there were two others... Apparently the birds and cats have worked something out. And they do return yearly..Run 3 clutches over the summer. A couple years ago, we had a hummingbird nest in easy view... about 4 feet off the ground. The hummingbirds are not afraid of me. They will pick cat hair off my robe [while I'm wearing it] to use for nesting material.
  14. I'm squeamish about gutting. Once it's hanging, it just a piece of meat. For some reason I don't feel much compassion for fish... Squirming on the pan is OK
  15. this sarong stays wet for several hour in our [lack of] humidity. I've given myself brain freeze from wetting a hat. Too much cool.
  16. oh... I was out a couple time today. The sun made its intention clear to any exposed skin. Best I can describe it is searing. Asked the wife if there was any cold water left. It comes cool for a while, then... lukewarm... I guess 95 - 100`. Spent the day with music. Fried some chicken and made mashed/gravy. The critters are out. Turned the lights on in the doghouse... 4 or 5 crickets bouncing around. I have lots of bug stories ... later things you see, if you are looking
  17. I got some when I was in AK... beautiful, spicy... that was back when Alaska was the only legal place. See people hitting bongs at the stop light. they called mine Hawaiian, too. I think it was because I was tanned. Didn't notice the mesquite leaves. actually -- they fit Hawaiian, too. When I first got to Kauai, I kept hearing about this ultra-fantastic bbq wood... kiewe. One of the guys at the bowl had some and showed it to me. Thinking to myself, this looks like mesquite. Was out the west side and saw a tree. What's that? Kiewe!. Looks like mesquite to me. Asked the beekeeper we bought honey from... Yes, kiewe is mesquite I know why they thought mesquite was sooooo good. If you try to bbq on the beach, using driftwood... you had best be cooking shrimp. The stuff practically lights with a match and leaves as much for coals. When it stop flaming, it is OUT. I think it would be like balsa. random association ramble I condensed/compressed it
  18. they lied. it can only get so good. never had any like some I "got" in '83... it was like trying to smoke hash oil the spontaneously combusting drummers was funny ... and the concert at the AF base with the cordless guitars was classic
  19. don't need that much .. if it is good I gave a friend a joint. Asked a mutual friend how he liked it. Said the guy had to lay down, in a dark room, with a wet towel on his head. Maybe I should have told him to not smoke it all in one sitting?
  20. you're me giving way too much credit. Was watching the weather forecast, UV index at 12... take that
  21. Real bubblegum Ohio Express and 1910 Fruitgum Co... @JohnJ My wife cooks bacon by the pound, just to eat -- as is still haven't sold her putting it on a baking sheet and popping it in the oven. Keeps mess off the stovetop and does a good job cooking it
  22. Done for now 100` outside. No reason to go out there. Maybe move a hose and douse myself. Was waiting for PerryMason to come on... watching the end of a Lone Ranger... Clayton Moore was not in this episode. Who was that masked man? Wife went to Tucson... to get the taxes done and visit her sister. We tend to owe... I gave her my card to pay for it. "Visit her sister" may lead to an overnight. Told wife to give me an early notice, if she's not coming home. Doesn't bother my for her to overnight. I just wanna know before I prepare dinner. Only a few things I like as leftovers. Spaghetti, chili, lasagna come to mind. Especially lasagna. I make a 9 X 9 and 9 X 13 pan when I make it. For some reason, I can't seem to make anything less than a gallon of sauce. I did get a "lasagna pan"... 9 X 13 and 3" deep. That stops overflows. Still have to make a 9 X 9. How many of you pre-cook the pasta? I don't. Just make the sauce a little juicy or add a little water before baking... I make enough of a mess. One less pan is one less pan
  23. I exercise them regularly. Not that loud normally ... but I have run them at 7. That is getting loud... concert level still no complaints from the neighbor. Only have one, less than a block away. Now, one of you is gonna tell me not turn turn it up over 5 .... and to get more amp, so I don't have to. @BigStewMan. Yeah, I bet your neighbors would notice my presence. Good morning all! Since it's June, I spose I should stop whining about 100`. It's normal... now. At least we don't get 90% r/h to go with it. Drinking cold coffee. Closed up the house for the day. Just waiting for the fun to start.
  24. I got a little loud today Half volume... that's starting to get intense
  25. only one catch you have to be out while I'm working... and I need the keys to the stereo
