  1. You say you are hooked to the sub out on the receiver? To what in on the sub??? You need to use a Y splitter and go into the subs LFE and line in Left or Right. The line inputs are for bass and the LFE is for movies effects.
  2. I did see your point Spider. I on the other hand didn't think that he would have anything to gain with 2 12's when his 15" is musical and that was not the concern. I know that some like mono bass in stereo but Boa's main concern is to gain bass where lacking and unless the 12's where stacked (non stereo?) he would loose bass where he has enough (musically) and then he would still have to look at yet another sub when there is already a lack of room for his HT concerns. I have thought of adding another sub myself, keeping my HGS for music and adding a dedicated HT sub. Your suggestion on the 16-46 is one that I have considered myself and even better 2 of those hooked in a push-pull will deliver your stereo bass(?) and cut distortion in half. If kept near eachother they will also provde a 6 DB gain over just the one. This could possibly even eliminate the need for the Velodyne's music only use with the cleanliness of the dual subs in a push pull configuration. I think it would take 2 or more 16-46's to match the HGS 18's output though.
  3. A pair of HGS 12's, 1 on the other, equal 1 HGS 15. If you spread them you won't even get as much bass as you currently have with 1 15". You can expect 4 DB more output from the HGS 18 over the 15. Seemingly double the bass. As for speed ??? I have asked this question before regarding the Velodynes with their unique voice coil and driver. I never really got an answer.
  4. I have to agree with you regarding the Vel and music/movies. I think they are a terrific music sub and a good movie sub but not terrific (my 12" anyway). I am also willing to sacrifice a little for a better movie sub as that's where I enjoy it the most anyway. My wife on the other hand is steadfast in that we are not getting rid of the Velodyne for something else but instead it is ok to add something more for my movies and she'll keep what she's got for her music. I have been considering the new RSW 15 or Stryke Audio subs. With the total claimed output of these subs I should be able to keep distortion very low as I will never need to push them near the peaks.
  5. PHIL You mention Good Guys. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE "YOU" TRY TO BUY SOMETHING THEY DON'T HAVE IN STOCK OR JUST DON'T WANT TO SELL. I have tried to buy SEVERAL things from them as far as Klipsch AND Denon goes and they will only sell what they want to sell,WHEN THEY WANT TO SELL IT or what they stock!!! You sir will be lied to and mislead to say the very least regarding MY local Good Guys!!! YOU WILL ALSO BE ASKED TO PAY A VERY PREMIUM PRICE FOR THAT GREAT INFO/SERVICE. I see a post from someone else who has had no trouble with Good Guys. You know what, I never did either untill I tried to buy KLIPSCH speakers from them that were not in stock... Then I tried to buy a Denon unit when the old units were not yet sold off, MORE LIES. I CHALLENGE ANYBODY TO TRY TO BUY SOMETHING MY LOCAL KLIPSCH STORE DOES NOT HAVE IN STOCK OR HAVE YET TO CLEAR OUT THE OLD STOCK WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO BUY THE NEW STOCK...
  6. I spoke to a Velodyne rep before buying my HGS 12 and I was told to look at the CT 150 also as the HGS are to expensive. I told him I could buy their best as I had the money then he said to go for the HGS 15 or 18 but in my room, in a corner, the HGS 12 might work. Your HGS 15 should give you about 6 DB more output across the board then my 12. I think you can expect 3 or 4 DB more from a corner load (seemingly doubling your output) If you are not in a corner and your room is less then great for bass your now looking at my HGS 12's output capability or less (when in a good corner). I have great bass but I want more for movies... I have also had my sub go POP several times when pushed to MY extremes just like I like it. I should have got an HGS 15 or 18 and put it in the corner only to provide me the extra head room that I don't have with my 12. My 12 is a very clean and powerful little sub and it continues to impress me everyday BUT for the money it looks like we do have other options to pursue these days. I am also very interested in one of the new Klipsch 15" subs providing there what Klipsch says they are. Talk about headroom. I just hope they can match my current QUALITY of bass provided from my Velodyne...
  7. I wish I could have heard them when I went shopping for my new speaks. At least you have heard them once upon a time. I don't think you could go wrong with any of the Heritage line myself. I have read that they have a good sound and I would be willing to bet you won't have any second thoughts on the matter once you hear them.
  8. My local dealer will ONLY sell what they stock. I tried to order a Legend C7 center over a year ago and I was told it was discontinued. I tried to order the KLF 20's or 30's, same line of bull. They tried to sell me an Synergy center. Then I ended up with a reference center they had just got in stock to go with my new KLF 10's I had to buy as unlike the other Legends they were in stock thus COULD be purchased at MSRP. I found the Klipsch site and Bobg gave me some solid info to return with (along with my new RC 3 center) and I spoke to the manager about ordering the C7. I had to go back on another day to see a different manager as the first would not even take my money at MSRP and order it. I spoke to THIS manager more then once over the phone and in person with info from Klipsch saying it was not discontinued and they could order it. Again I was told it was discontinued and could not be ordered. Anyway FINALLY the other manager said he would take my money and see about getting one if possible just for me. I can just about guarantee you guys they took my money to shut me up and send me on my way. A couple of months later and the very week Bobg visited the local dealer, I got my C 7. I don't know if he hand delivered it or not but to this day I wonder if that's how it happened as time and time again my dealer told me they just couldn't locate one and time and time again I voiced my opinion regarding this dealer on this web site to BobG. I had a similar problem with this dealers lies regarding the purchase of a Denon 3300 they had in stock, said they did not and did not know when they would have in but they had a great price on another Denon unit. YEP, it was the unit that was replaced with the 3300. I called another dealer from the same chain in another state a couple hours from here to see if they had it in before I made the drive and they said yes but so DOES your local store. He said they aren't allowed to start selling the new stuff until they sell off the old stuff. Paying MSRP is one thing but being lied to intentionally and paying MSRP is a kick in the face to me and I don't like to be kicked in the face! I don't like Klipsch limiting me to dealing with these used cars salesmen that are in the audio business. I sure did want one of those new Klipsch sub too.
  9. I am curious as to how the Hereseys sound? Did you get a chance to audition them? How do they compare to the Legend line and Ref line on mids, highs and bass? I like my Legend combo a lot but I have always wondered if I should have gone to the Heritage line and look at the Heresey or the Lascala's?
  10. There is nothing greater in my system then 5 CH. STEREO!!! OH boy it is SWEET! Some prefer 2 CH but as soon as I got another pair of towers for the rear I was just blown away. Talk about a Rock concert in your own home. DENON 3300 MAINS KLF 30's CENTER C7 A. REARS KLF 10's B. REARS KSF S5 SUB VELODYNE HGS 12
  11. Make sure to use your dealer locater here at the Klipsch site to see if they are factory authorized.
  12. If Klipsch is finally limiting sales to the area, some of us are screwed!!! My local GOODGUYS (NOT) will ONLY sell what they have on hand. I was LIED to TIME and TIME again regarding the Legends I tried to buy. I was told the C 7 was discontinued and the KLF 20' and 30's also could not be ordered. OF COURSE they had no problem at all selling the KLF 10's they had for MSRP and a RC 3 center to me. Once I found this board I returned with solid info from Klipsch (and the RC3) regarding those speakers that WERE NOT discontinued and asked them to PLEASE order the things, NOPE. They said they could not get them...... That's when I was referred to Uncle's and other retailers that would sell what they did and didn't have in stock. What really made me mad is Klipsch discontinued a color on the KLF 20's because of poor sales and suddenly GOODGUYS has a bunch of those available to this day for MSRP and you know they bought them on a special knock out price cause they can't (WON'T) order any other color... YEA right GOODGUYS... I was told the same lies about my Denon 3300 they had in stock and lied saying they didn't. I called another Goodguys store in Sacramento to see if they had them in before I made the 2 hour drive and they said YES but so DOES the Reno store. I returned and strong armed the guys into admitting they had that unit in and selling me one. They had to get permission from the manager to even sell it to me because they had not yet sold off their stock on the NON DTS 3600 Denon's. I HATE BEING LIED TO... If I am limited to them for my Klipsch purchases, I am done with Klipsch purchases... Not because of Klipsch but because I refuse to deal with that store for ANY product.
  13. The LF 10 had not 1 but 2 PR's. For a 10" sub in that small of a box it really did a very good job.
  14. Is the MSRP on the proceeding page for the new line correct? What is the output capabilities of the RSW 12? What is the total excursion of the RSW line?
  15. I ordered an LF 10 sub from www.unclestereo.com for a great price. It turned out that I had gotten one of the bad LF unit's. I called Uncle's and Klipsch and Klipsch sent me a replacement unit with Uncles approval. The replacement soon died on me too. Klipsch had then stopped production of the unit and so I waited. Anyway 4-5 months went buy from my first purchase date and still I had no problem at all with Uncle's taking the LF 10 back and giving me full credit towards anything else OR refunding my money including the shipping. A rep from Klipsch told me that she would call Uncle's (if they had a problem with the return) and that they are one of her favorite places to deal with. I have since bought from them again and have yet to have any trouble at all from them.
  16. This makes me think of selling off my KLF 10's, moving my KLF 30's to the rear and buying a pair of reference 7's for new mains. So much for that tonal match thing. The imaging of the reference series combined with the dynamics of the Legends. Oh no, more debts. I need a new hobby!
  17. Your not hinting towards a Klipsch receiver of some sort now are you? Nice to see you on the board Bobg.
  18. They did seriously overstate the LF 10's capabilities. I will wait for some independent reviews and also to see if they can hold up this time.
  19. I know, I know, I have already excepted the fact that I will probably be buying the RSW 15 by the end of the year.
  20. GOSH DANG IT, now I have to go and get in line for one of the RSW 15's.
  21. DMAN You mention that if we could could undo the servo we would have a lot more bass. That may be true but the Vel's servo subs WITH the servo and the anal clamp down STILL outperform (deeper and louder) most all other mass marketed subs out there.
  22. TV I do love this sub for music. Probably a hard sub to surpass for that use alone. For movies it is also a very good performer but I'm sure there are a lot of better movie subs out there. The other day I was cranking out some music with peaks around 115 db and my bass was tight and perfect in sound to me. No matter how loud I go, it's clean and tight with very good impact.
  23. I thought the LF subs were actually 1000 RMS for the LF 10 and 1600 watts max and something like 2200 watts max for the LF 12. The original LF 10 design was with a 500 watt amp and they changed it, so I thought, to the higher output amps before releasing it to dealers.
  24. One of the biggest reasons I chose the Legends over the reference line was because of how well they played loud. When I turned up the RF 3's some of the music sounded like it wanted to break up. The Legends on the other hand just got better and asked for more, lots more. I really liked the openness of the sound on the ref line but the Legends were more accurate and dynamic with perhaps a more natural sound with some impact as well. My point being that if they finally combined the two sets they better raise production cause they'll go quick. I myself would love to go listen to them and one of those new subs. I have been tossing around the idea of adding another sub for movies. Can you tell us any more about the new subs? My gosh, I'm still in debt from all the stereo stuff I have now.
  25. The cleanest bass on the market has to be Velodyne's HGS series. With less then 2.7 % distortion I think it's pretty clean.
