These K-55-V drivers came out of my vintage La Scalas. One needed a new diaphragm, so I purchased and installed both from Crites. Their instructions made it very simple. They are now strong and healthy. $125 shipped anywhere in the continental USA. I can accept Zelle payments, or Paypal if you're willing to pay the fees.
I'm also selling the K-77 tweeters from my vintage La Scalas in another Garage Sale post.

These alnico tweeters came out of my vintage La Scalas. They sound great at low and high volume, and are in perfect working order. I can ship anywhere in the continental USA for $125. Payment via Zelle, or PayPal if you're willing to pay the fees.
I'm also selling my K-55-V drivers separately in another Garage Sale listing. The AA crossovers in the photo have already been sold.

These crossovers came out of my vintage La Scala speakers. I replaced the oil cans with the recommended JEM caps a few months ago, and the sound is excellent. The JEM caps are just a cut above my original oil can caps in audio quality, probably because of their age. My wiring skills will not win a beauty contest, but these crossovers work flawlessly. $175 shipped anywhere in the continental USA. I can accept Zelle, or PayPal if you're willing to pay the fees.
I'm also selling the K-55-V drivers and K-77 tweeters separately in two other Garage Sale posts.

These tubes are like new. I've only used them in my system for less than a week. Right now, the balanced, matched and low noise options are about $90 with tax and shipping at the TubeDepot. You can have these for $40 shipped anywhere in the continental USA. I already have them boxed, and they're ready to go.
According to the reviews, Schiit Audio preamps and headphone amps really benefit from this particular tube. Here's the link: https://www.tubedepot.com/products/jj-e88cc-6922-gold-pin-preamp-vacuum-tube

Furutech spades are exceptional quality , wait till you try them , then post a review
I used the Furutech gold plated copper small spades for my vintage La Scalas, just a few terminals at a time vs all at once.
I replaced the tin spades for the tweeter and mid horn connections, and got a nice little boost in signal and presence. The sonic difference was more pronounced with the woofer. Changing the spades in the bass bin produced more gain, but changing the crossover to bass bin terminals in the top changed the overall sound of the speakers for the better. Everything was suddenly balanced with more presence and gain.

This DAC really made my DSD files shine. These are $281 brand new, but won't be available again for a number of months. You can have this one for $160, shipped to anywhere in the continental USA. Local pickup is fine as well.

Thanks for that heads up. I will call Kat at Upscale and setup a demo of the Western Electric versus an EVO 400 like mine. I can’t imagine spending $15,000 for an amp but I’d still love to hear it. It is clearly above my bank account situation but it’s fun to dream about cool audio gear.
Let us know after your comparison.

Forgive me, I believe the newest version of horn mono uses 5 way binding posts
They do indeed. I have new Mid Monos. I'm using banana plugs with mine.

1.5 years ago I described how pleased I am with polyester caps I traded in for sonicaps. It was only a test and I used standard values which did not exactly match the Klipsch requirements. I thought 10% tolerance was ok. I used 2x6.8 uF instead of the required 13uF. And for the tweeter of the AA crossover 2 caps each 2.2 uF instead of the required 2 uF per cap. I thought I was not that wrong, but somewhere Roy Delgado described that the uF values should be followed as closely as possible because the intended range of use of the 2 uF caps in series depends on the accuracy of the 13 uF. In the meantime, I have learned that the total ESR of caps in parallel is pretty much the same as the ESR of a single cap with the total capacitance.
So I tried it out, for 13uF I took 6.8 4.7 and 1.5 uF. For 2 uF I took 2x1 uF. I was able to match these polyester caps with each other so that I actually get 13.04 uF for both channels.
I wouldn't have considered this change worth mentioning if it hadn't had such a positive effect. Ok, at the same time I removed some unnecessary connectors from the xover, of course the circuit remained the same, but these connectors are not responsible for the positive effect of the correct uF values.
The result is that the LaScala sounds very "right" now. I couldn't get out of my chair because of the listening pleasure, although I just wanted to check that it works after soldering. The loud and sensitive horns register every small change for the better with great effect. Squaker and tweeter discolour much less and the added transparency and punch almost scared me.Basically, this post is a plea for using JEM original Heritage vintage replacement caps. Only because of the high cost of shipping to Germany, customs and import VAT I did not order them from JEM. I can highly recommend it to every vintage Heritage owner to use JEM caps because only there the uF values are exactly matched to the Klipsch speakers and you will make the same positive experience.
Below is a picture from today, I am not a master solderer but it works.
Don't believe anyone who says that polyester caps are not transparent or that violin strings sound like paper or any other nonsense. They are the caps that exactly fit the vintage Heritage models and Klipsch still use them today, as do other well-known manufacturers, e.g. my Stirling Broadcast LS 3/6 and LS 3/5a use the same type of caps. It's not about buying cheap parts but about the "right" cap in the context of its circuit and it's not about the "best" cap in its own
Nice! I have AA crossovers sitting here with new JEM caps. I might give them a try.

It was under $100 at the time, so a little over $100 now sounds right.
I just checked for pricing on their site and could not find a pricelist.
May I ask you what the AA kit cost?
...much obliged

Hello,
I am looking to do a DYI project by replacing my old (original caps) on my 1980 Type AA Crossover LaScala Speakers.
I was wondering if anyone has the list of what caps to buy. I realize there are only 3 caps per speaker to replace.
I was curious if anyone had listed the correct caps (values) to buy and recommended Manufacturer i.e. Solen, etc....)
Thanks, bob
Jem Performance is definitely your best option. Jim's cap kit was definitely on spot; it made my AAs sound very much the same as my original oil caps. https://jemperformanceaudio.com/speaker-modifications

I would think he would sell individual sets for local pickup. Give it a try if you're local.

The best being the EVO 400 power amp I already own or the Quicksilver? 🤔
Your EVO is definitely among the best. You can try the QuickSilver monoblocks to see how you like them. That's really the only way to tell. You might also try a quiet cable for your EVO 400, like the Maze Audio that I've been using. They definitely put a hush on the noise floor.

Have you heard a PrimaLuna before, or something else to compare to the Horn Mono?
Also, can these go loud without efforts?
Thanks
Yes, they can go very loud with full clarity. Haven't heard a PrimaLuna, but I've had other amps. You will probably start collecting a few amps, so you're better off just starting with the best. You'll save time and money that way.

I'm using the QuickSilver Mid Monos with KT150s, and the QuickSilver remote control preamp, all with vintage La Scalas. Very satisfying. When I changed the power cables to Maze Audio Ref4s, I began to understand what 'dead quiet' means in audio. It's actually quite emotional.

These were among the very last CSW-450s Al made during his 'mass production' builds. Cornscala-Wall Universal, designed for La Scalas, or really any three way Klipsch design. I used a pair of Al's CSW's for my vintage Heresy speakers, and the results were night and day stunning. If you are building Super Heresys, these will really step up your tone. You can read about them at Al's site here: http://alkeng.com/ap_xo.html
He will still build one or two when he feels like it for $622. If you'd like to own a pair immediately, then here you are. $375 for local pickup, Zelle or cash. I can box and ship them for the additional cost, I'd just prefer a local pickup. I already have a box and insulation I can use to ship these, so shipping costs will not be that much.... or I can just do $400 shipped for any state in the continental USA.

Yeah, I currently have around 20 and build and finish guitars at http://instagram.com/sparklemotionguitars to support my habit. Any money I make gets funneled back into more gear.
Nice! I have a few guitars, and a recently acquired original 1968 Fender Dual Showman Reverb amp with the 2x15 JBL cabinet. Bigness lives here.
I've been through Heresys, Chorus IIs, and now vintage La Scalas, and now have a little stash of stereo tube audio amps. I would definitely start with the Willsenton R8. It will save you time and expense.

I get the feeling that PayPal is going out of business, or will be repurposed. That's because the Feds are launching their own instant payment system in the next few months. It runs on the same network that Zelle uses, and I don't think Zelle does the 1099 thing. It definitely hasn't for me. The plot thickens.
