  1. The Forte 1A is a very nice Nelson Pass designed 50w ClassA SS amp. I used to sell these in the late 80's /early 90's. If I remember right it worked well with passive preamps. Leo, I'm sure Craig is the man to do this beauty justice. This piece is important to me for reasons far beyond hifi. It was the in the console of my hysterically funny Aunt Jean's home in New Haven where I spent a great deal of my childhood in the 60s. This amp powered many a serious party in that great house. It will always have a special significance for all those great memories it recalls. Richard
  2. Bob, I live in Worcester and I'm interested in your amp. I have a Scott 222c that I love. My guess is the Fisher is similar. my email is fatchance at charter dot net
  3. I sell Klipsch in a retail store.I've sold them for about 17 years. I love the RF3II. Of all the new RF series I would have to say it is my overall fave. The RB5 is also high on my list. I'd really love to hear RF3's with a SET amp though. I imagine that it must be a pretty good combo. Doug- "RF-3's aren't ever gonna replace my Heresy's though)!" What exactly makes you say this. My experience is limited with the Heresy's. I've really only heard them with crappy Solid State stuff. Compared to the RF3's with equally crappy SS stuff the RF3's can compete with traditional designs < 3d sound stage, tonal balance is not obviously a horn ect} but it kills the other designs in traditional Klipsch virtues of both low level and loud dynamics.[P>
  4. I'd really love to hear a 2a3 or 300b system on big horns before I take the plunge!
  5. Dohh! Sorry for the double post! I thought that the post I made at work did not go through.
  6. Chris- I might be interested in selling my Audio Research SP-8. It is all tube not a hybrid. It is immaculate and I still have the box. It is the one component that I have held onto for by far the longest because it is so sexy and sweet sounding. I need the cash to fund my lust for K-Horns or VOTT's If you have any interst let me know at: tess@massed.net PS I'll be away from 7-22 to 8-6-02
  7. 1-Is this possible? 2-Is there a Link to a project? 3-Would it be worth the effort?
  8. Does anyone have a link for a combo of a LaScala BassBin and an Altec horn 2-way DIY?
  9. I guess this is REALLY IMPORTANT before I continue. This is a general Big Horn question: My room is only 12' 9" x 12' 3" but with a large opening <6'x7'> onto another room. The speakers flank the opening and face the couch. Am I kidding myself lusting after these big old Horns?????????? Can I reach the promised land with such a small room??
  10. I have an Audio Research SP-8 II rev b that is in perfect shape. I need to finance my desire for K-horns. email tess@massed.net
  11. Damn! someone outbid me...........Wow my marriage flashed before my eyes! I know I could sweet-talk my wonderful and beautiful wife into K-horns definately.......LaScalas would take a little extra work..........VOTT's ?????? They must be the most Manly speakers on the Planet.
  12. Tom- What do you think of these? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1365432353 I also noticed these 605a's http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1365549714 thanks for your input
  13. lynnm I'm not really interested in DIY unless absolutely necessary. I'm just looking for advice /criticism of the 2 systems based on experience. BTW the room that the system will go into is only 12'x13' with a large opening<5'> into another 12x13ish room. That is where the best corners are in the house.
  14. I might be able to score a pair of VOT's with 811 horns and dual 15"'s. My goal is a fine SET 2a3 based system. Thanks
  15. Dano- Sell me your LaScalas for $700 and buy the K-horns! Or tell him I'll buy them for $1600 and I'll figure a way to pick them up. My email is tess@massed.net BTW I've been selling Klipsch for 10yrs+ at Tweeter and other independents. Where do you work? This message has been edited by 12ax7 on 06-26-2002 at 10:13 PM

  17. Deiter- That Fostex\Klipchorn combination sounds very interesting!!! Can you tell me why you did it that way and if you like the result?
  18. I am too poor to buy new LaScala's and too impatient to wait for an opportunity to come up on a used pair. I'm dying to tryout some SET amps with horns. Thanks guys
  19. I have to say that in years past I have heard K-horns in well equipped < hi-end solid state> stores that sounded thin and hard with no 3d qualities at all. Iknow I know.........you're all gonna say bad set up.........thin walls bad corner seal bad match of amps ect. I need a little encouragement cause I've heard the K-Horns actually sound bad far mre thatn I've heard them sound good. Please ease my mind before I take a leap of faith!!!!
  20. My goal is to get the best in a 14x13 foot foom with good corners. My new system is going to have a pair of Bottlehead 2A3 Paramours running them and I haven't yet decided on anything else. The rest is in the air, My current system is: Mirage M3si Dyna ST-70 w/ TriodeElectronics Board Audio Research SP-8 Rev ? various front end stuff BTW this system is very capable of SERIOUS GOOSEBUMPS!
