  1. Yeah, but is the shape of the horn going to make a diffrence?
  2. Can I place my SB 2s on thier sides for my HT? I have 2 built book shelves on either side of my TV and with the componets I could only place the speakers on thier sides. If this will interfere with the sound quality I'll just put the speakers on thier stands.
  3. I live in the south side of Chicago and low and behold my buddy tells me that he just bought a set of speakers from "you gussed it" a guy in a white van! There supposed to be Paradne speakers. He says they sound okay but he was expecting more. They supposed to list for 1500 and he paid 500. Buyer beware!
  4. I'm trying to build a home theater around a pair of Chorus IIs. Can I just power them through a HT reciver, like something from Sony or Denon? Or do I need amps? I'm thinking of trying to find an Academy for the center and just some SS 1s for the rear. Can this be done with just a reciver? They are currently being powered by a ADCOM tuner, preamp and amp. But they're only 2 channel componets. Help
  5. Thanks Audioreality, that does help. I think were going to be lookin for an academy center and some synergy ss1s for the rear. I'm wonderin if we just buy a new reciver from adcom( or something that will be compatible) if that would be the easiest way to go for HT? Using his preamp and amp is there any suggestions of what kind of reciver we should be lookin at? Don't want to get toooooo expensive though!
  6. Is there anyone that has any experience with ADCOM products atleast?
  7. Check out another great forum AVSFORUM.com for the answers to all your questions and will possible bring in another whole slew of questions. Front projection is a great alternative, looks awesome with a huge picture up ta 10 feet diagonal and all from a little box, about the size of a laptop. You can mount it on the celing or just set it on your coffe table. The Panasonic AE 200 or 300 can be found for under 2500 bucks and is said to have a great picture. I'm waiting for the new sony HS 10.
  8. I agree with JasNoob, I orginally wanted the quintets but after visiting this forum I went for the Synergy 6 system but upgraded to SB2s for the front, SC1 for the center, and The 12 inch sub. Although this is still considered a small system compared to the Refrence series it still sounds awesome and does not require much more space then the quintets. You can easily find the speakers for under 1000 but it will not be an authorized dealer which was what happen in my case. I recived everything quickly and was delivered by UPS. I couldn't have been happier. PM me if you want to know where I got everything. But rember it's hard to go wrong with Klipsch!
  9. My buddy just bought a pair of Chouse IIs with a ADCOM GFT-555II tuner, ADCOM GFP-555II preamp and a ADCOM GFA-555II poweramp all for a great deal and would like to develope this 2 channel system into a home theater set up. First what kinda speakers should he be lookin at? He dosen't have a ton of room and would like some small size satellites for the rears. I know its not the perfect match, but maybe something in the Synergy series? Second does he need some type of HT reciver? He'll be watching mostly DVDs but needs some kind of system to decode a Dolby signal before his preamp, right? Or can he just buy a DVD player that does this? Whats your guys opinion on this? I could hardly set my system let alone this guy's!
  10. Thanks DOUGDRAKE, once again your wealth of information has helped me BIG time.
  11. My boss is sellin a pair of what he rembers as "chorus speakers". He said he bought them about 3 years ago, any info what they might be and how much there worth now? He also said they're about 3 and half feet tall and weigh about a 100 pounds. Any info or photos would be great. THANKS
  12. AUGIE

    Thank-you

Looks great and the picture quality of your projector is OUTSTANDING. How do you like the projector? And what screen size are you running?
  13. Thanks guys, and Doug thanks again you have been a big help also thanks for the OMNIMOUNT tip I'm going to use those mounts for everything! So Ill place the rears on eitehr side of the seating area, I'll be using the celing OMNIs so the speakers will be about 7 feet hi. Ant thoughts about that configeration? Once again thanks for all the input!
  14. Well once again I'm searching for your wisdom! I have a room that I've framed and before I drywall I'm running pipe for all my speaker wire. SO I need to get an idea where to put my rear surrounds and rear center. The size of the room is 24' by 14.5', I'm going to be projecting a screen on a far wall so I'll be using the room LONG ways. My fronts will be on Omni mount speaker stands, my center on a shelf my sub on the floor in a corner, but what about the rears? I would like to use either wall or celing omni mounts, but how far should I place them in the room? Oh the seating will be about 12' back from the screen, about center of the room. the celings are about 7.5', can I use celing mounts and just put them in the far corners or is this too far back? They are SS.5s and my reciver is a Sony St985. Thanks for any info. Signed Dumb Newbie
  15. I currently am running SB2s in the front and SS.5s in the back. I'm lookin for good speaker stands for the bookshelve speakers and some kind of speaker mounts for the rear that I can set up in the coroners of the room. Any suggestions?
  16. Any word on what projector you finally agreed on? I'm also lookin. After I recived my klipsch speakers I need a decent screen to match thier AWESOME sound. Just wonderin.
  17. In designing my basement in conjunction to my HT system I've come to a problem in how high I can put my center speaker. I'm using a SC 1 and would like to place it above my projection screen, about 7 feet with 8 foot ceilings, or is this to high? Will it be okay as long as I angle it down toward the main seating? Any help would be appreciated ....thanks.
  18. Just hooked up my new Klipsch speakers and they are AWESOME! I have SB2s for the front with a SC1 for the center with SS.5s in the back and a 12 inch sub for the base. My reciver ' SONY STR 985, request an additional speaker to make use of the 6.1 channels. My question is what is an ideal speaker that would work the best with my system? Do I need another center channel or another surrond sound speaker? The speaker is supposed to be placed directly behind the viewer. ANYONE HELP
  19. quote: Originally posted by b-man1: i also have the 7-dvd JVC changer...it is very nice. i never owned a different progressive scan unit, so i can't compare, but it has a good output. offers coax and optical outputs, 5.1 analog, and reads everything (cd-rw, cd-r, mp3, etc). .02 Im also looking for a multi disc DVD player and I'm considering either the JVC or the Toshiba. Do you have any advice on this matter? Or is there a better player out there? I would only like to spend between 200 and 300 dollars. This message has been edited by AUGIE on 06-27-2002 at 06:00 PM
  20. Okay I finally ordered my speakers and thanks to all your help from the forum! My system is now going to be composed of SB 2s for the front with a SC 1 for the center with SS .5s for the rear and a KSW 12 for the sub. It's all going in my basement that I just framed and will be puting in pipe through the walls for the speaker wire, my buddy is an electrician. What kind of speaker wire should I buy and wheres the best place to get it? Oh by the way the system will be run through a Sony STR985 6.1 600 watt reciver.
  21. Thanks for your guys info. I went with SB 2s in the front with a SC1 center and the 12 inch sub instead of the 10, but I'm still using SS.5s in the back. Will that be okay or should I have bought the SS1s? This message has been edited by AUGIE on 06-22-2002 at 03:22 PM
  22. I orginaly wanted the Quintets also but after listening to a couple of suggestion from this forum, I've decided on the SR 6 system. Anyone out there recommend upgrading higher then that even? This would be for a first time HT system.
  23. This is for a first time home theater system, I've listened to ya, and now want to forget the Quintet system and go for the SR 6 system! But in looking I could upgrade to SB2, SC1, SS1 with the 10 inch woofer for around 260 dollars more. I'm paring the speakers to my Sony STR 985 600 watt reciver. Is the SR6 adequate for my needs? DOUGDRAKE HELP!
  24. Did you find your cheap Quintets? If so where? How do you like them?
