I’m willing to spend about $1000 but I just want to make sure it’s well spent.  I’m not saying I want to spend $1000 if I don’t have to.  But I don’t really want to spend more than $1000.

What did you end up buying and how do you like it. I’m thinking of pairing a Marantz amp with some KG2 speaker.

  2. He’s gotta cone down in price and you gotta get across the lake but... https://muskegon.craigslist.org/for/d/muskegon-klipsch-cornwall-speakers/7230502200.html

I’m thinking you can sell the altec horns for $100-$200

Now go buy them and send me a 12 pack. I’m thirsty!!! 😉

Thanks for that, I went ahead and ordered the parts express one after watching the video. I can definately handle that, so I should have parameters posted up in about a ten days or so.

Hey did you ever measure the parameters? I have a pair of KP-301s and one of the woofers is bad. I was thinking of going with the k-48-st as a replacement if it would work.

    Thanks

  4. These look great! I like the industrial look as well. I have a pair I am planning to build. Do you recommend Crites titanium tweeters? Also did you keep the JBL woofer and if so did you notice a difference from left to right? One of my woofers is bad and I am trying to decide if I need to replace both of them or only one. Thanks!

You have "starter" Heresy's ("B" designation).  #538 shipped Feb. 22, 1963, and #585 shipped June 10, 1963.  "B's" were intended to be upgraded eventually to full 3-ways.  They shipped with a K-22 woofer that incorporated a whizzer cone to achieve some amount of high frequencies.  I suspect the tweeter and mid holes are covered with a paperboard cover from the inside.  If it's any comfort, they are fairly rare!

Wow, ask and you shall receive! So interesting, so people had the option to buy the cabinet and add to it at a later date. I wonder would it be worth it to find a tweeter, squawker and crossover to finish them off? Also, would it be a bad idea to give them a light sand and new coat of oil?

  6. Hey there! I came across these the other day on craigslist and had to pick them up. Plus it was a good excuse to get out of the house. I have yet to take the backs off and peek inside, but when I put my ear up to where the tweeter and squawker should be there doesn't seem to be sound. However, they sound quite pleasant and listening to a sweep of the frequencies I can here to my limit of 16.5k htz or so. Anyway, without delay here are some photos.
