Sources like Blu Ray players can be hooked up via HDMI to the pre pro's input.  RCA's will carry the signal from the pre outs to your amplifiers inputs.  Speaker wires take the amplified signal from your amplifiers to your speakers.

Edit, that looks like a receiver so you could also use the internal amplifiers and not use external amplifiers.  I thought we were talking about pre pros till I looked at the back of the unit.

The first thing you said is confusing but I’m trying to understand what your saying. Wouldn’t I just hook it up to my avr. What would be the advantage of that? Also I would prefer to use my power amp. Your right it looks like it only has unbalanced inputs.

  2. Well I bought a parasound a31 and it sound the balanced will sound best but not all receivers will have be able to run balanced. So your telling me I will have to run the power amp unbalanced through the mrx720? What’s the difference from balanced and unbalanced, and will it effect the sound quality? I will also be listening to music probably more often than movies.

  3. Thank you for all the help, I wonder where he lives. He dealer that next to me I get the a31 down to about 2080$. It’s about 2 years old and there 3 years left on the warranty and they are in very good condition. I think I’m gonna stick with the a31 with my guy unless something sticks out at me. I wonder if I should not even worry about getting the a31 to not power the center channel. I ended up getting an anthem mrx720. I wondering if I should just get a 2 channel power amp or if I should go with the three channel or if my center channel really needs that extra power. I’m guessing I should just do it..

I am saying I have been very pleased with all my NAD gear but would not have a problem or feel I missed a beat if I was to switch to Anthem.

Ok I see. Thank you kind sir

I have not met anyone who purchased an Anthem AVR or pre/pro and regretted it.  With Anthem you do give up "some" features but you gain great build quality, top tier room correction with ARC, great sound quality for stereo music and HT, and good customer support.

As mentioned before, if my NAD takes a dump and I can't find an affordable NAD replacement, Anthem is where I am looking.

    Bill

I called and talked to someone about nad and they told me that they have like sold there company or something and they have just been all over the place or something along those lines. It would just be harder for me to get a bad than it would for me to get an anthem.

I've had an Anthem D2 for over a decade.  ARC room correction is incredible.  The pre/pro has been absolutely flawless, never once needing a firmware update or reset.  I also have a 2 channel preamp that I've had just as long and it has been equally trouble free and great sounding.

Good to hear. I’d s pre amp the same thing as a power amp? Is the pre amp an anthem pre amp or something?

  7. Anyone ever own a anthem receiver? I’ve heard they have amazing sound quality and room correction is the best and I’m starting to get pretty sold on them. What do you guys think. I know they are not user friendly tho..

  8. I’m acually thinking about going with the Captivator 4000ulf because I like the deep bass extension of it. The orbital shift subwoofer the jtr makes are crazy intense and the dbs they can push at around 100 frequency range is insane around and over 130 is awesome. But I just like the capability of the low end extension and the ability for a sub to really dig deeper into those lower frequencies and do it powerfully!

  9. I’m acually thinking about returning this subwoofer and going balls to the wall like youthman and getting the jtr captivator s2. What do you guys think about that decision and about a subwoofer like that and about a subwoofer like that for that kind of money?

another thing to consider besides performance with the cost for svs that nobody has mentioned:

the price includes shipping regardless of the model/size.

45 day in home trial, if you dont like it return shipping is also free.

1 year trade up policy for full price credit.

lifetime free tech support, ive talked with svs for 30+ minutes before buying my subs & again after. very informative & helpful.

& the 5 year warranty that usually extends beyond that.

Yes very very good customer support. I talked to a customer support representative the other day and he was on the phone with me for about a half an hour and we were comparing frequency response from a website for the PB16 and the SB 16 we were just going back-and-forth to see which one had the better frequency response at each frequency. It was pretty cool that he would do that for me so I wouldn’t have to go back and forth from each website. I also had some more detailed questions he sent up to the higher ups for me which is nice. as he put it they are not a cross there t’s and dot there I’s type of company and said if I needed more time for my in home trial they would give it to me and so on and so forth.

I'm with willland; I had nothing but a positive experience before and after the sale with SVS. As far as your scratches go-did you buy a sub from their "outlet store"? Assuming it was used, and described accurately, I would expect scratches. As for the cord, send 'em a photo and I'll bet they'll ship you a new one. Or as willland suggested, just buy a cord and be done with it.

No they were brand new. I just went back up to the store and got my old cord. I also called svs customer support and told them my problem and they sent my out and extra cord free of charge.

Family problems have kept me from here recently.

Just wanted to say that I only have one of the lesser 3000 series and it does wonders for my music with the phase adjustments available!

    Same here

  13. Finally got it working and got it in my room. Just flopped it down in the first corner of the room that I thought it would sound good and haven’t used any microphones or dialed it in and man. I loved my klipsch sub but holy shit. This thing is just on a whole different level. This thing is actually absolutely amazing. It’s so f’ing crazy and the sound quality it astonishing and the power and the frequency range is amazing. I had never experienced a subwoofer that can go subsonic and let me tell you this thing can go subsonic. The pb16 is an underhung voice cool opposed to the sb16 which uses a overhung coil and they both have there pros and cons and the sb is suppose to be better for music because of its better performance in its upper frequency range and better Efficiency and just suppose to be cleaner I guess you can say. But tbh the pb16 outperforms the sb16 in all frequency’s except when you start getting to about 80hz I believe and it’s only by like 1 or 2 dB and other than the the pb puts out more power by like 10 db and I believe there thd is about the same but I think the pb might be less at some frequency’s and vis versa with the sb. Also the underhung coil is suppose to put out less distortion but Everyone has there own opinion and I’ve heard with people that really know what they are talking about don’t recommend underhung voicecoils but some of the best performing speakers out there implement that coil. They both have there pros and cons but I guess what I’m getting at is this subwoofer is freaking amazing and it’s so clean and beautiful sounding and doesn’t sound boomy even though I just threw it in the first spot I saw. I’m sure after messing with all the equalizers in the app and fine tuning the placement of it and when I find the sweet spot this thing is gonna give me a heart attack out of pure love lol. This is an amazing subwoofer and imo worth every bit of the 2000$. I bought it through a dealer and got a good deal on it. It really rocks your socks and it’s amazing and I could go on and on and I have only begun to scratch the surface of this thing. It really had quality sounding bass in all the frequency ranges, from the little I’ve tested it out. Also it’s pretty amazing because it’s the best if both worlds when it comes to HT and music because it has the ports that you can plug or party plug or leave open and it helps the performance for which ever situation you want. It’s a pretty astonishing subwoofer in the aspect that no other companies have done what they have done with the three ports and the ease of Access with the app to the best of my knowledge. I know there’s other subs out there to outperform this thing for less money supposedly but they all have there pros and cons and this thing is quality and who Ever buys it I don’t think would be disappointed. Thanks guys for the help. Keep ok rockin.

Hey you've got two of those bad boys there @David y?

Contact them again, sure they would cross ship or something to make it right for you.

Somebody there had a bad day I guess.

No, the first one I bought had huge scratches on the left side. So they ordered me a new one which I picked up today and gave them back the scratched up one to only find out they gave me the wrong cord. I think it’s a cord for Europe or something. So I only have one kind sir.

If you want bang for the buck and great warranty daisy chain some of these together.

I want great impeccable quality performance with great warranty. Thanks for the suggestion I wonder if they have any quality woofers there. Ima look into it. Just looked into them, I don’t think they have what I’m looking for but thank you. Not expensive enough lol.

  16. So I just got my new svs Pb16 ultra because the first one came with three huge scratches on the left side of it. Now that I got the new one it came with a wrong cord. I’m just kind of fed up with svs and don’t know what to do at this point. My room is 13 by 15 with about 8 foot ceiling and a hall that extends to the bathroom that makes It like 13 by 23. It’s confusing I know I’m not good with measurements. I’m gonna call and complain to svs maybe I can get some money off or something I doubt it. I already got the sub for 500$ off which I thought was a very good deal. Any other good sub recommendations you guys could throw at me. I know there are some other subs out there for the same amount of money if not less that will outperform the pb16 but I just felt like it was well suited for me and was quite convenient. I don’t really wanna spend over 2000$ or much over 2000$ But am open to suggestions. I like a sub that can really dig down to those low frequencies. And before this sub I have the sw112. Will it be ok to run both of those subs at the same time it would it limit the pb16, just curious? And have yet to really be able to test this pb16 bad boy out in a suitable room with some suitable music and now I guess I’m gonna have to wait longer. Thanks guys.

    David,

In a word, yes, you are wrong.

Cornwall IV: Maximun SPL 119dB Continuous

RF-7III: Maximum SPL - not listed, but the sensitivity is lower than both the Cornwall and Ls Scala

La Scala (original) Maximum SPL 124 dB Continuous

Any of these would be too loud to have playing for long at their maximum.

Depending on what you are trying to do, though, the RF-7 series or Cornwall would still provide you with great, listenable music in the room.

@texasnavy05 Keep looking for some LS. Are you located in Texas or somewhere else? You may find some LS industrials as well, which may fit your motif, too. I'm sorry to have highjacked your thread.

    Bruce

I see a max spl at 125 dB at 1 meter so I don’t know but that could be wrong.
