    15" KSW port

Sorry Bob, my mistake. I am a Klipsch supporter as I do have an RC-3, a pair of RS-3's, and a KSW-12. The reason I was asking is that I also have a pair of Speakerlab Khorns that I built with all Klipsch components. I purchased the parts through a Klipsch dealer some 6 or 7 years ago. Again, my mistake.
  2. Edster, I absolutetly love the grain on the fronts. What kind of wood is it? Are they stained or is that natural. Your room looks great, nice job!
  3. A few pictures. I wasn't real happy with the appearance of the top unit but with the room angles left me no choice. Again, good luck!
  4. Alan, I recently built a Lascala (split, over-under whatever you like to call it) to use as a center for my homemade Speakerlab Khorns. As some of the crew here mentioned I would have to shield the speakers. In my case I was able to use two sheets of ductwork type sheet metal. I placed one inside the enclosure and the other below the tv. So far, and it has been about a month, everything is fine. I think I am going to build a Belle bottom to use in place of the Lascala because the Belle is wider and I think it will look better. Best of luck PS I almost forgot, the new center matches and sounds terrific!
  5. I'm back It is now after 5:00 so I guess my components are not arriving today. Anyway, I have an old 15" woofer that I placed about a foot away from my tv, close enough to cause distortion. I then took the side cover from an old computer and slid that between the tv and the speaker. The closer I kept it to the tv the better job of shielding it seemed to do. I'll have to wait til I get the new one to see if this approach will work. Dimensions for the bass unit are 24 5/8" wide x 24 5/8" deep x 24" tall
  6. Roadhawg What is the Pro Lascala? Where would I look at one? I thought I was being original (oh well). Have to run to the bank but I will respond to j-milotky later.
  7. dndphishin- I have been instructed to use low carbon steel to shield the woofer magnet. I think I will put a U shaped piece above the woofer in the enclosure and/or put a sheet of it between the tv and the woofer. Will probably use bucking for the top enclosure. One way or another I WILL make it work. Also, the top enclosure will have the Belle grille work. It should look nice.
  8. Enclosed a few pictures of my latest project. I am going to use this setup as a center to go along with my Korns, RS3s, and a KSW-12. The idea is to set the tv (on a seperate, wider top) on the base unit with the mid/tweeter unit attached to the rear wall above the tv. The top unit will be angled to listening level.
  9. I should have taken some camera classes (yuck) but here are a couple more. The Layne components should be here by the end of the week.
  10. I have the Layne components coming for my modified/split Lascala center. The tv will sit on the base unit and the mid/tweeter will attach to the rear wall above the tv angled to ear level. I am waiting till they arrive for measurements before building the top. I hope it will be a nice voice match for the Khorns.
  11. HDBRbuilder et all Thanks, it may be the best route. Do you have an opinion of the products on this page? http://www.speakersupply.com/prod03.htm If you think the tweeters (and all) are acceptable I can modify the top to fit. I am going to call today and talk with them. Thank you P.S. the bottom cabinets are progressing well. I am almost done dry fitting and should start glueing shortly.
  12. I need all of the internal componenets for the Lascala. Woofers, mid-range, tweeters, crossovers, and connecting posts. I would appreciate input on what to use and where to buy these components. Also any tweaks and upgrades on these speakers would be helpful. They (at least one)will be used as center speaker to match my Klipschorns. Thank you for the help, Don
  13. Scott, If you buy this system for less than $600.00 with shipping and everything runs as it should, you got a great deal. Keep us posted, Don
  14. Scott, I have the RC3 and RS3's. I can't speak for the rest of the system but I don't think you will be dissapointed in the center and surrounds. Of course as Doug mentioned the actual price plus shipping is the main factor. The surrounds are especially sharp, clean and spacious. I am impressed with the center also but I am going to have a LaScala to replace it so as to better match my fronts which are the Klipschorns. If you can buy them at a fair price you will not be disapointed. Good luck, Don
  15. Thanks for your help. I have been warned about some of the dimensions, etc. so it will take some time but it should be an interesting project. Thanks again, Don
  16. I have decided to build a modified LaScala as a center match for my K horns. I have the plans in German and my question is that on page 114 (single sheet) it shows a variation of the bass unit. Instead of the "home plate" looking enclosure it shows a triangle with the front cutout dimensions of a 330mm arc on the top and bottom with the sides cut at a width of 200mm. The original plans show a rectangle of 335mm x 77mm. Should I stick with the original or use the specs pn page 114? If someone can translate the following it might shed some light. "Abb. 98 Bafshorn mit kleinen Abmessungen (Nach "Bygg sjalv" der schwedischen Fachzeitschrift "Radio och Television, Stokholm)"Text The modification will be that while the bass will be LaScala the top will have the Belle appearance. Thanks
  17. Nice shot Mike, makes me wish my HT room was a little larger. Enlighten me on the horn in front of the TV (looks interesting)
  18. Opinions on RC3 center with my k horns. Are they "voice matched" and if not what would be the weapon of choice. They sound pretty good to me but I have not compared others in my setup.
  19. Thanks. Tom sent me the German set. Earlier you mentioned short horn, I'm not sure what that is.
  20. I was thinking something (or anything) in the heritage line including Cornwall, Heresey, LaScala, Belle, etc. Nothing new. Thanks Gil, Don
  21. Does anyone know where I can get plans for the older speakers. I would like to build another set (I built a pair of k horns a couple of years ago) Thanks
  22. Congrats on speakers. I would like to know where I can get plans for the older models. A few years ago I built a pair of k horns (love em) and want to add to my collection. Presently I am using the k's as fronts along with RC3, RS3, and the 10" sub. It is great! Any help will be appreciated. Keep up the good work!
