  1. My McIntosh MA352 has 200 per channel driving Klipschorns. It rarely reaches 1/2 a watt output. Be gentle with the volume control.
  2. Would 2 150 watt bulbs in series provide the protection of 1 300w?
  3. I have a Schiit Lyr Headphone amp for sale. Purchased for temporary use and has under 10 hours of use. Includes both tubes and power cord. asking $95 plus shipping
  4. You did a nice job on the layout. look really nice.
  5. Here is a pic of one of the mono blocks I was working on. I developed hand and arm tremors so my perfect soldering skills rode off into the sunset.. Each channel uses 4 300b tubes OTL for a total of 1.5 watts. Filaments are powered by DC for a quieter output. Multi-Layer boards are soldered to the pins of each socket. I'm thinking about building a wood box around the chassis so I can use my body weight to stabilize my hands while soldering. Interconnect wiring is what remains to be finished. Hopefully I can finish the project. I have 8 matched Electro-Harmonix tubes. A few years ago the 300Bs cost me a $220 a pair. WE tubes would turn this into an expensive project. I spent $6k on a McIntosh amp earlier this year and another $2k on my Khorns. I'm Al's waiting list for a pair of extreme slope crossovers and then I need to get a pair of BMS 4592ND drivers. Thinking about WE tube is going to have to wait. I bet they sure would sound nice.
  6. What amplifier are you using, MZKITTY? That blue glow almost looks like a deep space photo from the Hubble Space Telescope.
  7. The packaging is very impressive. The radium light is a nice touch.
  8. My 300b mono blocks use 2 pair per channel. Got any change you can spare? Will work for tubes!
  9. I beg to differ, I need my hifi, withdrawal would be horrible.
  10. I could see myself wanting one of those 91E amplifiers. If only just to look at.
  11. The unemployment check might make your car payment, but if I doubt it covers rent/mortgage.
  12. I can't dispute what you are saying, but read the history link I posted earlier. It's interesting. A company named Westrex bought the name Western Electric from AT&T and the technical docs along with the manufacturing equipment. If you visit WE site check out their new 300B amplifier. Sure is pretty.
  13. History of Western Electric https://www.westernelectric.com/company-history
  14. When I bought my Klipschorns, the audio dealer lent me a set of $900 speaker cable to try out. I could not hear any difference between the $900 cables and $12 worth of Monster cable. I recently saw an advertisement for cables selling for $100,000. My guess these are for the guys that light their cigars with $100 bills.
  15. I was referring to the NOS. If the new WE tubes sound as good or better than the NOS. Then the old tube prices will go down. I doubt you can even get a matched pair of NOS tubes. audioXpress was very glad to once again feature a tube entirely manufactured in the United States on its May 2021 edition cover, celebrating the reintroduction of the famous Western Electric 300B triode, now out of Rossville, GA. 16. $3500 a pair for NOS maybe because they are so rare. Putting the WE300Bs back into production will bring that price down if the sound is the same.
  17. I'm sure there are people willing to spend the money. I have a DIY amp partially completed, I won't be one of their customers. The amp uses 8 300Bs.
  18. Ran across this article on audioexpress.com. $1500 per matched pair. https://audioxpress.com/article/r-d-stories-the-original-western-electric-300b-vacuum-tube-now-shipping-worldwide
