  1. Hey Joe I am a Parasound owner and love the sound. However, I believe the Halo series is stereo only for now, with muli-channel coming soon. Their website does perdict a release date. http://www.parasound.com/halo/ But they still have the classic(origianl)series available. I have the HCA-855a & a HCA-1500a driving a SVS sub. Two great amps for the money. I've seen them new on ebay for about $400 and $600 respectively. You will need a pre-amp also, however the AVC2500u is expensive ($1600+). The AVC1800 you can find for a deal. But either will not pass HD video. You might want to look into other pre-amps. Like Rotel etc. Parasound has some great amps for the money. When I can come up with some cash I want the 2205AT to match my 2500u or the HCA3500 to help with knocking down some walls. Plus the 10 year warranty is great. There are some other Parasound owners on http://www.avsforum.com. I would buy seperates for HT and Music. They can be used interchangeably. Some pre-amps have tuners, like the 2500u. Do some lurking at some forums and get informed. http://www.hometheaterforum.com John Edit: Just went to Parasound's website. There is a HD video up to 1080i upgrade for $500.
  2. My 12' driver on the RP-5 pops at reference levels. Balance is set to neutral. Left speaker pops, right is fine. It pops during recordings of hard hitting bass songs.(dance music) It has done this on several of my recordings. If I turn it down to say -10 it goes away. I know it is loud but this speaker still should not pop. My amp is not clipping. Any thoughts? 3. Hey Jasen These speakers are discontinued. They won't last forever. That was my thinking too, but after hearing a friends pair, I had to have them. You're right about big and bulky. But these suckers are mainly just plain 102 pound HEAVY. I about strained my back getting them up the stairs. But worth every step. 4. Got mine 1 1/2 months ago at Ubid.com. $359 ea plus $224 shipping. Boy that shipping is tough to swallow. But still not bad, under a grand. The bass is better than my KLF-20's. But the 20's mids sounds a little smoother to me. 5. Hi again, thought about this after my last post. Get two amps that you can run in mono, balanced inputs are gonna cost. The parasound 3500 is 350w in 8ohms x2 w/balanced inputs $1200-1500 used. If you want more power and save some dough without balanced inputs get 2 parasound 1500a can output 630w mono in 8 ohms. ~$500 each used. There are many more amps out there that do this, I am just familiar with parasound products. As far as pro-audio gear running you subs, I have no problems with it. If your subs are run thru your Krell for bass management turn that crown amp 3/4 all the way up. Use the krell to adjust the volume. You may just like what you already have. Others here on the forum may have a better idea. Chime in. Uncle
  6. 400-600 @ 8ohms? gonna be tough without a fan unless you drop some big time cash. How about a parasound 3500? $1200-1500 used if you can find one. Bridging 2 amps is a possible, but 8ohms, still expensive. I am using a qsc2400 to power my svs 20-39cs @ 4ohms. Has a fan, but I can't hear it. Better looking than the crown but still doesn't match the rest of my gear. But **** , I don't care anymore. It works great. Good luck hunting Uncle
