  1. well i guess the next step is to call HK... ------------------ MY SYSTEM Mains: Klipsch RF-3II Center: Klipsch RF-3II Rear L/R: Polk R40 bookshelves(suck)...soon to be Klipsch RS-3II Subwoofers: Dual SVS 25-31CS Subwoofer Amp: Fidek 3002 600w Receiver: Harmon Kardon AVR520 CD Player: Cambridge D500SE DVD Player: JVC XV-D723 Progressive Scan TV: Toshiba 32A42 32"
  2. Well i guess they deal is off now, but they had something where they took like $200 off for whatever reason. I know they are authorized, so I think the receipt SHOULD be enough. It'd be great if you could call and find out for sure though. ------------------ MY SYSTEM Mains: Klipsch RF-3II Center: Klipsch RF-3II Rear L/R: Polk R40 bookshelves(suck)...soon to be Klipsch RS-3II Subwoofers: Dual SVS 25-31CS Subwoofer Amp: Fidek 3002 600w Receiver: Harmon Kardon AVR520 CD Player: Cambridge D500SE DVD Player: JVC XV-D723 Progressive Scan TV: Toshiba 32A42 32"
  3. Yammys are pretty bright, but not to the point of annoyance, even using a dvd player with cds through a digital connection. I am using one right now and can cope with it because of my cambridge cd player and analog connection. I need an HK soon though, I think I want some warmer sound for sure. ------------------ MY SYSTEM Mains: Klipsch RF-3II Center: Klipsch RF-3II Rear L/R: Polk R40 bookshelves(suck)...soon to be Klipsch RS-3II Subwoofers: Dual SVS 25-31CS Subwoofer Amp: Fidek 3002 600w Receiver: Harmon Kardon AVR520 CD Player: Cambridge D500SE DVD Player: JVC XV-D723 Progressive Scan TV: Toshiba 32A42 32" This message has been edited by jwadd21 on 09-18-2002 at 08:29 PM

  5. I have read the manual and checked all obvious problems. Scooter, I didn't ask you not to help nor did I say your message was demeaning. I said I hate it when people tell me to check the obvious because I thats never the problem when I try to fix stuff, its always really complicated it seems. Thats all Anyways I connected using the 6 channel and for some reason I'm not getting multichannel sound, just 2 channels. I check every setting on my dvd player and found nothing that could cause this. I am just gonna send the DVDA back along with the HDCDs, it was really only for testing and such. ------------------ MY SYSTEM Mains: Klipsch RF-3II Center: Klipsch RF-3II Rear L/R: Polk R40 bookshelves(suck)...soon to be Klipsch RS-3II Subwoofers: Dual SVS 25-31CS Subwoofer Amp: Fidek 3002 600w Receiver: Harmon Kardon AVR520 CD Player: Cambridge D500SE DVD Player: JVC XV-D723 Progressive Scan TV: Toshiba 32A42 32"
  6. As for DVDA: I can try connecting the 6 channels. Regular DVDV works fine. As for HDCD: My CD Player is an HDCD Player and should recognize such material and decode it. Correct? It has an HDCD light and all. ------------------ MY SYSTEM Mains: Klipsch RF-3II Center: Klipsch RF-3II Rear L/R: Polk R40 bookshelves(suck)...soon to be Klipsch RS-3II Subwoofers: Dual SVS 25-31CS Subwoofer Amp: Fidek 3002 600w Receiver: Harmon Kardon AVR520 CD Player: Cambridge D500SE DVD Player: JVC XV-D723 Progressive Scan TV: Toshiba 32A42 32"
  7. I hate it when people tell me stuff like, check to see if stuff is plugged it or check to see if your DVD player is capable of playing DVDA. Yes it plays DVDA. Everything is plugged in perfectly, I thought enough to check that. I am using optical into my receiver. I picked the 5.1 surround on the DVD, of course. Perhaps there is some setting on my DVD player I need to check Any news on the HDCD problem? ------------------ MY SYSTEM Mains: Klipsch RF-3II Center: Klipsch RF-3II Rear L/R: Polk R40 bookshelves(suck)...soon to be Klipsch RS-3II Subwoofers: Dual SVS 25-31CS Subwoofer Amp: Fidek 3002 600w Receiver: Harmon Kardon AVR520 CD Player: Cambridge D500SE DVD Player: JVC XV-D723 Progressive Scan TV: Toshiba 32A42 32"
  8. I recently got a DVD audio disk. However, in surround mode I am not getting any Dolby Digital. My DVD Audio player shows 5.1 channels, but the Dolby Digital light never comes on. Are most DVD audio disks 5.1 sound but not Dolby Digital. And if so, what do I have to do to get the multichannel sound? I have to use prologic because DD doesnt recognize a DD signal on my receiver. Here is a link to the DVD audio disc I got: http://www.cdnow.com/cgi-bin/mserver/SID=1169556268/pagename=/RP/MOVIES/mv_item.html/itemid=1406470 Also, I got some HDCD's, but the HDCD light doesnt come on on my HDCD player (Cambridge D500SE). Are they HDCD's? If not, I am returning them to CD Now. Also, the cd's dont have HDCD anywhere on them. These are the HDCDs I got: http://www.cdnow.com/cgi-bin/mserver/SID=1169556268/pagename=/RP/CDN/FIND/album.html/artistid=311/itemid=796369 http://www.cdnow.com/cgi-bin/mserver/SID=1169556268/pagename=/RP/CDN/FIND/album.html/artistid=WARREN+G/itemid=791223 THanks, Any help would be nice. ------------------ MY SYSTEM Mains: Klipsch RF-3II Center: Klipsch RF-3II Rear L/R: Polk R40 bookshelves(suck)...soon to be Klipsch RS-3II Subwoofers: Dual SVS 25-31CS Subwoofer Amp: Fidek 3002 600w Receiver: Harmon Kardon AVR520 CD Player: Cambridge D500SE DVD Player: JVC XV-D723 Progressive Scan TV: Toshiba 32A42 32"
  9. If so, why? Do they offer anything other than convenience for hooking speakers up? Do they offer better sound? Whats the deal? ------------------ MY SYSTEM Mains: Klipsch RF-3II Center: Klipsch RF-3II Rear L/R: Polk R40 bookshelves(suck)...soon to be Klipsch RS-3II Subwoofers: Dual SVS 25-31CS Subwoofer Amp: Fidek 3002 600w Receiver: Harmon Kardon AVR520 CD Player: Cambridge D500SE DVD Player: JVC XV-D723 Progressive Scan TV: Toshiba 32A42 32"
  10. I find it hard to believe that no one knows whether or not the warranty is valid without the warranty card. it would be a big difference if I could use the warranty for another 17 months. of course, there is no way to use the warranty without receipts as far as I know. do you have the receipts? The reason I am not jumping on this is because One Call is selling BRAND NEW units WITH the 2 year warranty starting the day you receive it for just $77 more than you are asking. Those two factores are easily worth an extra $77. ------------------ MY SYSTEM Mains: Klipsch RF-3II Center: Klipsch RF-3II Rear L/R: Polk R40 bookshelves(suck)...soon to be Klipsch RS-3II Subwoofers: Dual SVS 25-31CS Subwoofer Amp: Fidek 3002 600w Receiver: Harmon Kardon AVR520 CD Player: Cambridge D500SE DVD Player: JVC XV-D723 Progressive Scan TV: Toshiba 32A42 32" This message has been edited by jwadd21 on 09-16-2002 at 03:39 AM

  12. See my system below... I want good CD sound, and I want pretty good DVD sound. In other words, I think it would make sense to spend a little more on the RCA cables than an optical digital cable for the DVD player. How good of cables should I buy? Also, I have a monster Y connecter, pretty good .5meter monster cable and gold plated radio shack 1/4" adapters to connect the sub to the receiver. I use decently sized monster speaker cable to all my speakers. ------------------ MY SYSTEM Mains: Klipsch RF-3II Center: Klipsch RF-3II Rear L/R: Polk R40 bookshelves(suck)...soon to be Klipsch RS-3II Subwoofers: Dual SVS 25-31CS Subwoofer Amp: Fidek 3002 600w Receiver: Harmon Kardon AVR520 CD Player: Cambridge D500SE DVD Player: JVC XV-D723 Progressive Scan TV: Toshiba 32A42 32"

  14. I was getting no sound out of the analog outputs. But i just shut it off, took out the cd, turned it back on and it has been perfect since. I am pretty impressed. the sound is very flat with my klipsch speakers, no artificial emphasis on high tones or harshness that I now can notice with my dvd player using it's digital output. I am all smiles. ------------------ MY SYSTEM Mains: Klipsch RF-3II Center: Klipsch RF-3II Rear L/R: Polk R40 bookshelves(suck)...soon to be Klipsch RS-3II Subwoofers: Dual SVS 25-31CS Subwoofer Amp: Fidek 3002 600w Receiver: Harmon Kardon AVR520 CD Player: Cambridge D500SE DVD Player: JVC XV-D723 Progressive Scan TV: Toshiba 32A42 32"

  18. I looked up the DVD player my dad let me have and it's a JVC XV-D723. Look pretty good huh? Got DVD-A and stuff, but no HDCD. The CD sound is said to be sub par, but I have a Cambridge d500se player coming tommorow so CD sound is taken care of. I don't think I'll upgrade my dvd player after all. Here are some websites for it. http://www.jvc.com/product.jsp?page=3&modelId=MODL010035 http://www.hifichoice.co.uk/review_read.asp?ID=517 ------------------ MY SYSTEM Mains: Klipsch RF-3II Center: Klipsch RF-3II Rear L/R: Polk R40 bookshelves(suck)...soon to be Klipsch RS-3II Subwoofers: Dual SVS 25-31CS Subwoofer Amp: Fidek 3002 600w Receiver: Harmon Kardon AVR520 CD Player: Cambridge D500SE DVD Player: Older JVC Progressive Scan...soon to be a Toshiba SD5700(HDCD) TV: Toshiba 32A42 32"
  19. I have been looking at the HK AVR520 and the Marantz SR6200 for my next receiver. Do you think the HK is better enough to justify an extra benjamin on it? I see them on ebay with a but it now of around 600 from sound pros, not a bad price. I might take one. ------------------ MY SYSTEM Mains: Klipsch RF-3II Center: Klipsch RF-3II Rear L/R: Polk R40 bookshelves(suck)...soon to be Klipsch RS-3II Subwoofers: Dual SVS 25-31CS Subwoofer Amp: Fidek 3002 600w Receiver: Harmon Kardon AVR520 CD Player: Cambridge D500SE DVD Player: Older JVC Progressive Scan...soon to be a Toshiba SD5700(HDCD) TV: Toshiba 32A42 32"
  20. Well I just realized non of these receivers have Prologic 2, which I love for music. Are there any discontinued models with PL2 that I can get for cheap? If not, I think I will just go with a newer, but lower model instead. ------------------ MY SYSTEM Mains: Klipsch RF-3II Center: Klipsch RF-3II Rear L/R: Polk R40 bookshelves(suck)...soon to be Klipsch RS-3II Subwoofers: Dual SVS 25-31CS Subwoofer Amp: Fidek 3002 600w Receiver: Harmon Kardon AVR520 CD Player: Cambridge D500SE DVD Player: Older JVC Progressive Scan...soon to be a Toshiba SD5700(HDCD) TV: Toshiba 32A42 32"
  21. I ended up cancelling my uBid order for a HK avr520, they were delaying shipping for god knows why, and i am sick of dealing with their BS. Because I do not plan on using 6.1 or 7.1 anytime soon and I only use my system for HT about 20% of the time and %80 for music, I am thinking about getting a slightly older model of receiver so I can get a bigger discount. I have been looking at the SR8000 from marantz at their refurb website for $600 down from the retail price of $1300, a pretty good deal. I have heard that marantz makes the best receivers for music and great receivers overall although some have had quality issues with them, so I have been looking seriously at these. Should I just go with a heavily discounted 5.1 receiver rather than getting a rather mid level (marantz sr6200, denon 2802, hk avr320)? What do ya think? I could also go with the denon avr3801 ir the HK avr510. What do you recommend? ------------------ MY SYSTEM Mains: Klipsch RF-3II Center: Klipsch RF-3II Rear L/R: Polk R40 bookshelves(suck)...soon to be Klipsch RS-3II Subwoofers: Dual SVS 25-31CS Subwoofer Amp: Fidek 3002 600w Receiver: Harmon Kardon AVR520 CD Player: Cambridge D500SE DVD Player: Older JVC Progressive Scan...soon to be a Toshiba SD5700(HDCD) TV: Toshiba 32A42 32"
  22. Ok mobile, so you suggest I get a two channel amp for my fronts do you? Now, how would I make the sound balance with my other speakers when using HT? I just dont know how that works. ------------------ MY SYSTEM Mains: Klipsch RF-3II Center: Klipsch RF-3II Rear L/R: Polk R40 bookshelves(suck)...soon to be Klipsch RS-3II Subwoofers: Dual SVS 25-31CS Subwoofer Amp: Fidek 3002 600w Receiver: Harmon Kardon AVR520 CD Player: Cambridge D500SE DVD Player: Older JVC Progressive Scan...soon to be a Toshiba SD5700(HDCD) TV: Toshiba 32A42 32"
  23. (See signature for my system) I dont have room for a bigger TV. I love my speakers and wont part with the RF-3's. Needless to say, I love my subs. The receiver should arrive soon(maybe a week) from Ubid, and hopefully it is in working condition. If not, I will get it fixed/replaced by HK under their warranty. Or I will get another good receiver such as a Marantz SR6200 or DENON AVR2802. I just bought the Cambridge CD player after reading the large amount of praise it has received, it should arrive in about a week. I will definitly get the RS-3II surrounds to finish my klipsch system. I plan on buying a Toshiba SD5700 for about 250 shipped online to replace my older JVC, but I am having second thoughts on whether or not it will make a difference. I may end up just using the JVC because my TV probably wont be able to recognize the difference and I now know that audio quality is decided in the receiver, not the player, when using the digital outputs from the player. So, new player or no? After all that I dont think there is anything else I need to improve. I think i'll be pretty much done! Hooray! And I love how my system is panning out. Unless, you would recommend an addition of some sort. My plan was to have a mid level system with all of the components being of nearly equal level. ------------------ MY SYSTEM Mains: Klipsch RF-3II Center: Klipsch RF-3II Rear L/R: Polk R40 bookshelves(suck)...soon to be Klipsch RS-3II Subwoofers: Dual SVS 25-31CS Subwoofer Amp: Fidek 3002 600w Receiver: Harmon Kardon AVR520 CD Player: Cambridge D500SE DVD Player: Older JVC Progressive Scan...soon to be a Toshiba SD5700(HDCD) TV: Toshiba 32A42 32"
  24. Ok...So should I just keep the JVC player because the sound will be no different in a higher priced dvd player when I use digital outputs? In this case, I should just grab a high quality cd player and use it's analog outputs instead of digital assuming it's DAC is better than my HK AVR520 receiver's? Is this all correct? I just dont know if it's worth using analog for the 6.1 sound, it seems like too many cable and hassle, i'd rather use digital and my HK AVR520's DAC. ------------------ MY SYSTEM Mains: Klipsch RF-3II Center: Klipsch RF-3II Rear L/R: Polk R40 bookshelves(suck)...soon to be Klipsch RS-3II Subwoofers: Dual SVS 25-31CS Subwoofer Amp: Fidek 3002 600w Receiver: Harmon Kardon AVR520 DVD Player: JVC Progressive Scan TV: Toshiba 32A42 32"
  25. I already have an older JVC dvd player, and I am wondering if upgrading to a better/newer model will result in better sound quality when using a digital output. Apparently not because it will depend on the receivers quality, right? In this case, I would just buy a nice cd player and use the analog 2 channel output instead of buying a dvd player also. ------------------ MY SYSTEM Mains: Klipsch RF-3II Center: Klipsch RF-3II Rear L/R: Polk R40 bookshelves(suck)...soon to be Klipsch RS-3II Subwoofers: Dual SVS 25-31CS Subwoofer Amp: Fidek 3002 600w Receiver: Harmon Kardon AVR520 DVD Player: JVC Progressive Scan TV: Toshiba 32A42 32"
