  1. I made a bit of a mistake in upgrading the caps on my Heresy II's with the stock board (Mounted on square plastic terminal on rear). I am seriously interested in this mod because I had the wrong tweeters when I bought them and one of my k-24-k woofers is cracked. (also one is black and the other is the greyish kevlar stuff. confused why because they both have the k-24-k stamp on the back. maybe spray painted? ANYWAY) So now that I just received my DE-120's and experimented with some insulation in the box, I am still not happy. I've been considering the Deltas since I got them AND your port idea. My original mid drivers sound loud. louder than everything. Interested in modding more but unsure of where to go from here. I've heard about L-pads and resistors. What about cap change? How can I get myself setup for when I do in fact get the deltas? How can I get myself setup for the type B crossover without buying a whole new board? I do not have the option to tap like the heresy 1. I will attach the h2 schematic Also whats the difference in the delta pro 12a and the delta pro12lfa? Which is better? one is a subwoofer the other is mid bass? My end goal is to get a little more out of these in the bass department. Also taming the mids and maybe the tweeters. I know it is possible, just unsure how to proceed. There is ton of information on here about heresy 1 mods, not much for heresy 2. I Am considering the port too, I don't have much into these and the cabinets aren't the nicest things you've ever seen. Also have tangent 500's with the same components as heresy 2 that i'd like to do something with. Maybe create a better cab and make the passive an active? thats another day. Thanks for any help
  2. This is my next step with these for sure. I'll be looking into it. thanks man
  3. For anyone interested, i received my B&C DE-120 tweeters and added very thin wish.com egg carton squares on roof of cab, sidewalls/rear wall directly behind squaker, and added maybe 70 percent of loose fiberglass insulation. left the rest of cab walls without the wish.com squares. Also angled them up a little more. The bass is more pronounced for sure, but now I feel it sounds "Middy". Squakers are stock, caps have been changed, no crossover configuration at all. Amp is a cambridge audio axr-100 flat bass and treble. These were always middy anyway, but now wondering if there is too much dampening. Perhaps remove some fiberglass maybe keep some padding in the woofer area, wrap the top of the woofer with padding (like they came) and leave top chamber empty with no wish .com squares or fiberglass Maybe i'm crazy. (guaranteed) I am just interested in tinkering with these. bass improvement was somewhat important. Do these plastic horns really benefit from dampening? I can't see that being the case Stepping down the squaker a bit in the crossover? Clearly not sure what I expect from any of this, but am glad to learn along the way. This year has been tough on me, so any project to keep me occupied is helping. Any more suggestions welcome
  4. is that not a 4 ohm speaker though? I recently purchased a cambridge audio axr-100 and my tweeters in the heresy 2's stopped working as soon as i hooked them up. I pulled them out to look at them, sure enough the previous owner glued Pyle car tweeters onto the horns (there is no removable back on the h2's, i never noticed the past few months ive had them). they were 4 ohms. converting to 4 ohm is going to be a hassle
  5. DE 120s sound great. Very impressed. I am able to a/b them with my tangent 500s (same components as heresy 2) they are damn close. Still have a torn woofer to deal with and possible replacement diaphrams for the squakers Its a project! Highly recommend these tweeters though, they are beautiful. Have some weight to them thats for sure. Thanks for everyones help. Next is experimenting with dampening for the fun of it.
  6. The keyword was all I needed, thanks a bunch. Great diy cheap option. I want to hear them tonight!
  7. I had to replace the tweeters in my heresy 2's (last owner glued car tweeters to the horns). They came in today and the holes do not match up for mounting to the horn throat. horn is much smaller then the mounting holes. Anyone have any experience with these tweeters and what should i do. The absolute last resort is urethaning them together. (I work with automotive glass) Any better ideas? is there some adapters out there for heresy horns?
  8. One of my speakers had the original foam wrapped around the woofer blocking the upper mid/tweeter frequencies. it disintegrated when we took it apart to change the caps. what about leaving the top chamber empty, wrap insulation or whatever around top of woofer, and insulating bottom, rear and sides up to the mid area only. Anyone think this is crazy? don't worry, I already know I am.
  9. thanks man, from what i have gathered today in hours of forum discussions regarding klipsch, if you are going to do it, do it that way. Have also heard people say to leave 1 parallel wall untouched. I assume dampen bottom, rear panel and one side wall and leave a sidewall bar wood. Any thoughts on that?
  10. honestly man, I am sifting through the comments in other posts of people saying why not to. I want to. if it is better its better. if not, take it out. Appologies, everyday life now a days has made me bitter. I need a project and this is it. What I mean by that comment is the purists leaving comments about how it will not benefit anything and how the designers didnt design it that way. sorry for the confusion
  11. recently bought some heresy 2's. Quick info: Have to replace the pyle tweeters that were glued to the horns (De-120's arriving tommorow), Have a small tear in my woofer (planning for deltas unless something comes up) Am open to the option of the port......but I have fiberglass insulation and was wondering about the placement of it. it is the thinner roll kind. Not a full sheet and not as thick, maybe half the thickness. Should I line the walls? U shaped around the woofer (thats what was in one of the speakers, other speaker the guy had a half assed eggshell foam of an attempt), subwoofer area only? leave wood exposed behind the woofer? Would try whatever, just curious what I should do. btw caps are brand new from bob crites annnnd I have a pair of tangent 500's which I am willing to entertain ideas too. Thats another thread.
  12. Lets get this out of the way immediately. I am going to do it regardless of what you say for the sole purpose of experimenting. Any advice on placement is what I want. I have the thinner fiberglass insulation in a roll...My question is where do you think I should start? Line the walls? cut up the insulation and loosely put it in? leave room behind the subwoofer (no dampening at all behind it)? top? bottom? Wrapped around the top of the sub like the factory? I've read all about the polyfil, just curious what I should do with this insulation I somehow didn't get charged for at the hardware store. I am not a purist, I have DE120 tweeters coming in (bought the heresys and they had 4 ohm pyle garbage glued to the horns), I plan to upgrade the woofers because one of them has a tear (not audible yet) the cabs arent in great shape, the caps have bob crites caps I just installed, squaker is original, paid 160 canadian for them but with the upgrades I might be at 5-600 one day. Soooo, what is your opinion. I am concerned of placement of the insulation. on the walls, loose, openings for woofer and mid, teach me, I am 32 years old in a few days and would appreciate any advice from someone who has had success with improving the sound from a heresy 2. Dare I say improve the bass??? I know all about the subwoofer recommendation, just let me try it this way for myself. I know all about how big the cabinets are. I am bored and willing to try. Getting the Delta subs is a possibility one day too, keep that in mind. Thanks
  13. See, I ahould have joined the forum earlier. This weekend I finally got my cambrodge audio axr100 and determined very quickly that something was wrong with the tweeters. Sure enough previous owner superglued 4 ohm pyle bookshelf tweeters to the horn. It was all squaker. More than usual lol. Amp only plays nice with 8 ohms. Already ordered some tweeters. Had i known about the h3 kit, I would have considered. The plan was to keep the price down as the cabinets are not exactly perfect. Did not work out so well. Plus I have already changed the caps. Appreciate the advice though
  14. I also just picked up a pair of h 2's for 160 bucks. One of the woofers has a tear. I'm in Ontario Canada though and don't want to spend an arm and a leg. I just may go with the eminence deltas instead.
