Excellent.  I rebuilt a pair of KG4s a month ago and they came out great.  Unfortunately (for me) they were for my brother and he now is enjoying them.

I wish I had gotten REW working for the final frequency response measurements, but oh well.  I loved the new sound with a tamed horn and my brother will have them forever.

Great looking project!  Seems very well thought out.  I know where you could find another set….

GL with them.  I just got home from being out of town (Not far from B'more) and was about to jump on this.

Thanks! The KG4’s sound fantastic, enjoyed them for much of the weekend.  THe KG1’s have a nice sound to them, but I prefer bigger klipsch so I will sell them.  I sold the receiver, RCA sub, and Icon center speaker yesterday.  Overall, worth the 45 minute drive to Baltimore.

I too love Kg4’s. Great speaker, especially for the price.

No doubt, I’ve sold a couple sets of KG4’s in the past for almost as much as this entire lot, so I’m happy with the deal.

  4. Purchased the lot today, just got home with it.  Couple corners dinged up on the KG1’s but they sound good.  Forgot how much I enjoy the sound of KG4’s!  I haven’t hooked up the rest of it.  Selling some, keeping some.

  5. Thanks! I have seen those listed for sale & spoken with the seller who has no intention of shipping.  I don’t have any driving trips north scheduled and do not want to make a special trip.  I sure do like the price, though!

  6. Hello, I am searching for a single KP-250.  I purchased a mismatched set of a 250 and a 201 a few months back, found a mate for the 201 but no luck on a 250.  Anybody have one kicking around?  I suppose I would sell my 250 as well, but would like to replace with something from the pro line.  (Big or small)

  7. Hello, I found on marketplace in Farmer City, Illinois: Two KP-320, Two KP-301, Two KP-115, and lastly Four KSM-2.  Also some QSC’s and other stuff.  Belonged to the guys stepfather who passed away.  I’d be all over it if closer (but let’s face it, the good deals are never right next door) but thought I would share.  Having trouble copying the links from Facebook but will keep trying.  Most are just listed as “Klipsch Speakers.”

    Awesome thankyou!! :)

    These will help a LOT

Hopefully similar measurements from Amphicar and then I can get to work on cutting some panels and holes

Can you also see if there is any internal bracing by popping your mobile phone in one of the ports and taking a snap with the flash on for me?

    Thanks again!

Sorry for the delay.  Just measured, @homatose a-f measurements match what I got.

    Hi guys....

These are the measurements I need to make an accurate clone of the box.....spacing of ports and drivers (A - F) taken from the edge of the baffle, not the edge of the box

A - centre of top driver to edge of baffle

B - distance between centre of drivers

C - distance between centre of ports (I have assumed all will be equal spacing)

D - centre of bottom driver to edge of baffle

E - centre of port to edge of baffle (vertical)

F - centre of port to edge of baffle (horizontal)

I am not sure if these measurements will be nice round numbers in inches, so if it easier to give measurements in mm, that's fine too.

These boxes are not so common here in Australia.

    Thanks heaps for your assistance!

  10. Saw these this morning, I want them in the worst way!  Too far off for me right now, and seller will not ship.  Good deal for someone, unless anyone is driving from Boston through Maryland???

It doesn't hurt to try. I never owned this one, it was one I listed to help fellow member's here. I wish that I would have bought it. I had too much stuff then and have more now.

I haveca pair of KP250 II that I changed the mid horn to the K701 like what the KP250 V1 has.

    They are for sale.

I’ll PM to discuss the pair.  I don’t have a need for a pair, but this group is not for “needs” I suppose.

    Yes; Crown K1 powers all.

Re some other issues ... UMIK is the microphone used with REW software to fine-tune settings. You can use a MiniDSP 2x4HD for the LF/HF settings, or (better) a Xilica XP-2040. Haha; have an (almost) brand new one if you are interested.

    Cheers, Emile

Any noticeable noise using the K1 for the HF?  I believe we’ve discussed the MiniDSP before.  It is also much more affordable at this juncture, is the difference in performance really great compared to the Xilica?  If I can spend a little more on amplification and a little less on the crossover right now, with room to upgrade down the road, that may be my best option.  I guess leaning towards a K1 or K2.  What would you have to have for the Xilica?  Feel free to PM if you don’t want to post it here.

    Kindest Regards,

    Tucker

Why not look into Yamaha power amps, either the pro or the home models?  They have good reputations, for both sound and reliability/longevity.  I’ve been using a pair of their MX-D1 power amps for over 15 years, and I’m still very happy with them.

As for bi-amping (True bi-amping, not “fool’s bi-amping”), you’ll need a second stereo/2-channel amplifier, plus an active electronic crossover, and necessary cables, etc., etc.  That should give you great sound, but it won’t be cheap.  Sure, you can always cobble together something that will make sound, but what would be the point?  These are high-performance speakers, and should be treated and respected as such.  If you want a bi-amped system, you might as well do it right, so for now I’d strongly suggest that you find a good high-performance/high-quality amp, at your price point likely used, and work with that, getting your system set up really right.  Once you hear that, it may be everything you need, with sound that puts a smile on your face every time you listen to it.

Sometimes, putting a limit on what you want to spend can work against getting what you really want.  If your budget isn’t big enough, keep saving for a few months until it is.  That will give you some time to do more research and look at more possible places to find what you want.  I’ve never had 904s, so I’m only speaking in generalities.  Emile, on the other hand, has a pair of them and is a very knowledgeable guy, so you can learn a lot there, since he can speak in specifics, from his own experience.

Good luck with your quest for better sound!

Ill look into Yamaha, but I think based on other recommendations I may keep my eyes open for a good used Crown XLS, K1, or K2.  What are some reasonable options for active crossovers?  I have no knowledge of how to set one of those up or get anything dialed in.  Conversing with a forum member, they recommended a UMIK and having a forum member remotely dial things in.  Xilica is more than I would like to spend, but I am not opposed to learning how all of this works and picking things up piece by piece over the next few months.  I do not want to half-*** this.  The $1,000 was just to put a number on it.

Believe you will need more than the 100w/ch from the CA-1010 to bring out the best from you 904's. Had a Marantz 2252B (52w/ch) on them and while good, something was missing. Then tried a 120w/ch Yamaha; better but still lacking. Found a Crown K1, and believe it hit the sweet spot with 350w/ch. Even more power might be better, but you will get diminishing returns on $-spent vs improvements. :)

Nice to hear from you again regarding 904’s.  Do you have a separate amp running the HF, or the crown K1 powering it all?

  14. Hello everyone, the time has come to upgrade amps and really see what these 904s can do.  I sold my Marantz 4300 and 2230, still have a Yamaha CA-1010 and Marantz 4270.  I am entertaining the thought of bi amping, perhaps Adcoms?  I have never done this before, only ever used receivers or integrated amps.  What do you recommend?  Cheaper the better, I enjoy great sound on a budget rather than just throwing money at stuff.  $1000ish budget, but once I have recommendations I will take my time finding deals.  Open to pro gear, or tubes, or solid state.
