  1. I asked the seller for more information but no response yet.
  2. Ok, thanks all. These came up for sale nearby but I will stick with 201ii's.
  3. Is this a pair of KP-320s, upside down? How do these fair versus KP-201?
  4. No affiliation. This is remarkably close to where I live, no need for these however. FB Listing - K-Ortho Owego, NY
  5. To make things even more confusing, a fellow member sent me this link, which shows a huge pile of KPT-484's. The driver is marked 4ohms, but the cabinet is marked 8ohms. https://m.blog.naver.com/jkckka/220889803756 Where can one obtain grilles like these?
  6. Update, the re-coned driver works. Albeit I believe the K-49 kit I installed has a 4 ohm voice coil vs. the original spec K-49-EP2 has an 8 ohm. There seem to be different specs for all K-49-X variants out there, I wish I didn't overlook that detail but I suppose if I find myself bent out of shape I can always tear it down and start over.
  7. If you missed your chance there's these in PA (no affiliation): https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/429834081997357/
  8. Time to look at replacement spiders. This is an option: https://thelordofbass.com/product/8-x-3-flat-linear-roll-spider-2/
  9. I've removed all the parts in the reconing process, this is what I encountered when I removed the dust cap. Everything in the kit I ordered appears to be a good match, except the spider is too small and for a different version of K-49; in this case the original K-49 which this is not.

  11. Seeing now that my prior response didn't post. Multimeter tested no change from probes on to off, so there's nothing there must be totally burnt out. I contacted SS to weigh the cost of a re-cone service versus the parts $85. The sellers suggested a refund but being honest if the unit can be salvaged I'd only request half of the cost of parts or repair as I'm still getting something out of it.
  12. Would this k-49k recone kit fit the bill? Comes with Cone: 18" accordion roll cloth edge, smooth cone Voice Coil: 3", 2 layer copper wire, 4 ohms, Re: 3.8 ohms Spider: 5.625" diameter cup x 1/2" high Dust Cap: 5.25" paper Gasket: 18" paper (4 section)
  13. Checked at the speaker terminals themselves - 0 ohms. Cone has a sort of springy noise when moved back and forth. Dang. I'm messaging the seller but don't imagine a quick fix. Seller was in the theatre business but I dealt with the significant other; sort of hoped they looked into this before I made the purchase. I don't suppose K-49's grow on trees these days, do they?
  14. Fast forward to yesterday/today. I didn't realize actually how large these are in reality (lol, oops). I hooked them up, no sound from one. The working driver seems to be doing well initially. What does one do to check if a driver is blown? I tried using an multimeter and wasn't picking up any resistance.
  15. I'll be doing lots of tinkering/testing on Saturday (fingers crossed) and will figure out if the 115's will find their way to the sales bin or fire bin (minor $ loss) but I will save the eminence drivers.
  16. I think I read about the 115's reputation somewhere. What's the deal with them, I haven't had much time with them as only have had for a week. Should I punt them to craigslist?
  17. Greetings All! Relative Klipsch newbie as of this year. I have a pair of KP-201ii's, a pair of kp-115-sw's (equipped with Kappa 15c) and have the opportunity to obtain a pair of KPT-484s. Granted I don't have much DSP other than crossovers applied at the amps, is creating a stereo stack with 484's a bad idea; are they going to not lend themselves much beyond the 115s? How are 484s for music, will I just end up with a bloody mess ? 😅 Note, I'd like to get a driverack one of these days for adjusting eq and crossovers. Thoughts?

  19. I removed the woofer and felt behind the cone for any issues, ended up mildly adjusting the wire leads/terminals as I thought they may have been touching on those "bassier" tracks. i'm not sure it's entirely fixed but the symptoms are minimized, so keeping an eye on it. we'll see if it's one of those things that drives me crazy enough to replace.
  20. i can't seem to slip anything under the dust cap and can't feel/see anything awry with the spider... but i didn't remove it entirely. i'll have to fidget with it further and report back with my findings. thank you all for advice thus far!
  21. found a possible culprit; could this dust cap need re-gluing? it almost looks like there's a gap around 1-2 o'clock?
  22. Hello! I recently acquired a pair of Forte ii's, and upon listening at somewhat reasonable yet elevated levels discovered that one woofer has a buzz that occurs at certain frequencies. Gently pressing in the cone alleviates the issue. To my understanding they've had the Crites tweeter upgrades as well as a recap. What are one's options here, recone, replace/upgrade both drivers?
  23. hi Ampicar, closest and only listing I've seen is this https://boston.craigslist.org/nos/ele/d/danvers-klipsch-kp-250-ii-pa-speakers/7459590672.html
  24. The front baffle is 25 3/8" wide by 40 1/2" tall. There is a 3/4" thick casing surrounding the baffle and it protrudes 5/8" outward.
