  1. It sounds great for home theater. It makes the whole room shake. I am not so keen on it for some music. It was made in the late 80's by M&K. It won a design award at CES back then!
  2. Thank you for your considerate reply. I was reading my Yammy manual last night and noticed the switch. I am thinking about just buying a 'normal center channel' and reconfiguring my system...much simpler.
  3. The HSU Sub sounds great for the money (Around $400).
  4. Buy the system I bought. I bought all of my components over the last 2 months. See my signature below. If you have a Tweeter Store in your town, you can pick up the Yammy for around $1,300 (list is $3,300)...
  5. Thank you. That is exactly what I wanted to know!
  6. DM concert in Paris is terrific. I was not a huge DM fan before. However, after watching the DVD, I am a bigger fan. Check it out...
  7. Are there DVDs that use more than 5.1 channels? I am considering setting up a rear center channel and also some front effect channel speakers. My receiver is capable of playing 7.1 channel content...is there any?
  8. Check out this link: http://dan.bellity.online.fr/jyk/
  9. Very cool link. Those amps are insane! Too bad he didn't have the wisdoms to buy a pair of cornerhorns...
  10. I picked up a pair of Heresy speakers to match the Cornwalls. I have 1 of the 2 wired as the center channel. If I wanted to use both of them for the front center, how do I wire it? Should I put one on each side of the tv? Thanks in advance for your reply!
  11. Cool pics! How did you embed them in the message text? I have not decided on a Single Ended Kit yet. Thee antique sound lab amps look like very high quality (and already built). Did you have any recommendations? Rob
  12. Here is one example...(picture attached).
  13. Does anyone have any experience building one of those Tube Amp Kits? I have seen the Moondog one and another one called a bottlehead kit. I am thinking about giving it a shot (or hiring someone with electronic/soldering experience). Rob
  14. Scott, Thanks for the feedback! I will check it out...
  15. Thank you for the very complete answer! On another note, what do you think of the tube amp kit you are using. I am thinking about buying one. How difficult was it to put together? I have no experience at anything like that... Rob
  16. My sub really shakes the room when watching DVDs. In fact, I am a little concerned about blowing out the large window in our Media Room. The problem is, I am not sure if the volume and crossover are set for optimal effect. I have the crossover set at about 80 and the volume about 3/4 up. Is there a simple way to tell if the sub is set-up correctly? Rob
  17. I have everything set-up for 5.1 channel now. However, it seems like there is barely any sound coming out of the rear speakers. There is about 25 feet from the front to rear. How do I figure out how much (and how) to adjust the volume on my rear channel?
  18. If I want to use a Heresy for the center (best timbre match), I will have to buy 2. I figure that I may as well try and use both. Although, I could always use the other one for a rear center...
  19. I am thinking about using a Heresy for my front center channel with my Yamaha RX-V1 Receiver. Is there any way to wire it to use 2 Heresy speakers for the front center instead of just 1? Rob
  20. I have been thinking about buying a HDCD CD Player. Does anyone have experience with one of these and if so, does it sound better than a standard CD player? Also, does anyone know what purpose a D to A converter serves, especially when it is not a part of the CD player/transport? Thanks for your replies in advance. Rob
  21. What in the world is a bass shaker?
  22. What do you think of your SVS? I would like to be able to 'audition' one. Is there anyone in San Diego that has one (or two like you)? Rob
