used + 40 years old K-77 tweeters now sell for more money than new tweeters , and oddly for close to 20 years , cies like Crites and ALK bashed the K-77
Oddly enough, some people would like to have a tweeter that doesn’t run out of gas past 15KhHz and can handle a little bit more power.
Plenty of stuff sells for silly amounts of money just because it is old and or rare.
You are deluding yourself if you think there aren’t far better modern tweeters available.

I own a pair of 2.2s and they sound just as Two Point Two Dimension described. Mine sound fine to me and I never suspected aging capacitors. I'll be interested
to hear TPTD's impressions after he changes the capacitors, but I think it's normal.
As a point of reference, I recently rebuilt a pair of Avid 100s; bookshelf speakers with an 8" woofer and 1.5" phenolic ring tweeter.
I replaced the tweeters with exact replacements because one had a puncture.
I had a similar impression as with the kg 2.2s; while the crossover point is 2.5kHz, they don't seem to carry much information. Could be my hearing.
Could be the single capacitor in the high pass filter. They still sound fine to me.
Edit: Here's what I just did- I turned the bass control to full minimum, and turned the treble control to full maximum. Then I used the tube test to
confirm the tweeter was producing sound. Yup; they work. I'm guessing there really isn't much musical information in the upper registers. And I just thought of another idea; TPTD should replace the capacitor in JUST ONE speaker, play some music in mono, and see if there's a discernible difference between the two.
There are two caps in the high pass filter and two caps in the low pass filter.
If any of them are out of spec it could potentially shift the crossover points and adversely affect the sound.

those MEH's are the nuts!
I’m so intrigued by them.
I really want to build a pair.

Those are the Theater surround version THSR2 which didn’t come with a tweeter.

The PRV WG45-50 is a great sounding 2” horn, no sanding required.

He’s in Chattanooga, TN and does live sound for events in the area.
He’s also got some MEH tops he built using Scott Hinson’s design.
He’s got more pictures of his projects and stuff on his instagram,

What controls it all...
A t.racks FIR DSP 408 is used for eq/crossover duty.

Another question is what speaker is it going in and why do you want a lower FS?

I used to work as a janitor and would clean carpet regularly with heavy duty industrial extraction machinery.
Even so, when that carpet would get pulled up and replaced, there was an absolutely disgusting amount of filth that was left beneath the carpet.
Go for the hardwood floor.
put a washable rug down and work on the rest of the room acoustics.

Thinking that the top woofer shares some higher duty frequency. BTW, ported speakers so not against the wall so they can breathe helps alot.:

There is nothing in the crossover schematic that indicates that would be the case.

Some context. I recently acquired a pair of Khorns for mains in my HT and sold my RF83 and RC64. So then I found a pair of heresy’s and have always been of the opinion that 4 is better than 3 so I want to try out a pair of heresy’s behind the screen as a center channel but have in wall wiring so can only run both off a single channel.

Did you find the Bracing made a difference, Josh ?
Absolutely.
but perhaps not as much of a difference as Roy’s PEQ settings for the Jubescala.
The LS bass bin has a massive bump around 148Hz and some EQ to flatten it out really helps the low end definition.
Put the EQ together with the braced sidewalls and it’s much better.

It's Damping, not Dampening.
If you get them wet they don’t really sound any better.

Have you swapped the Heresy’s left and right?
It’s possible the other speaker you tried isn’t presenting the same load on the amp.
It’s not completely unheard of for there to be an issue with the solder joints at the input jacks or elsewhere on the crossover.

Nice prep work for the veneer.
The oil cans in my Type E Heresy 1 networks looked like that when I replaced them with some modern caps.
The difference was noticeable and commented on by my wife who had no idea that I had done anything to the speakers.

Checked out a local 60’s cover band at the brewery/theater over in Mars Hill Friday evening.
The first thing I said when I walked in was “not enough PA”.
As soon as the band started playing it was confirmed, the vocals and guitar were getting buried in most of the mix.
Yesterday we went caroling downtown with folks from our parish and the rain held off until we were done.
That was nice.

I wouldn’t trust any measured differences unless the speakers were both in the exact same position in the room.
