Heck I was amazed the first time I ever hooked them up though. Hijack alert: CC, how do you like your Pioneer Elite? I'm going to be getting a new receiver sometime in the not-too-distant future. I'm leaning towards the 3803, but the Elite line is another I'm considering. You're one of the few I know of that has one. Pros/cons would be appreciated. (You may want to PM me so we don't totally hijack this thread.) Thanks, John ---------------- When you leap from satallite to bookshelf or even floorstanding there's always a huge gap between them. They sound completely different even they are in the same series(especially from satallite leap to others). If you can afford, go ahead with some bigger monsters like SB-1 or older version KSB 1.1(KSB 1.1 is old model that you can get them at the price around 100, which is only 10bucks more than quintet. Definitely worth upgrading's 10dollar bill) as the main speakers. I'll send you the PM once I finish writing them
  2. ---------------- On 2/24/2004 10:26:08 PM yromj wrote: That is absolutely right. When I upgraded from Quintets to my Rx-25s, I upgraded the mains and center first. That left the Quintets pulling duty as surrounds. I was VERY surprised at how well they did. I had to bump them up a few dBs to keep up w/ the reference speakers, but I really thought that they would sound out of place w/ respect to timbre. Like I said I was impressed. John ---------------- You think of the ref series boost up the volume just because they have higher sensitivity......... quintet has only 88db @1W 1meter. All the ref are 93+db/1W 1meter, that means it's 50%+ higher volume even you replace them as ref 15 . Also the woofers give off bass for more "volume" too(not actual reading but you can feel more is coming off from them). It's always true for bringing the quintet to the surround, they are not too sensitive that you have to turn them up a little. However they still do their job on surround. I've a pair of them still working with my RC-3II center and RB-5II mains
  3. You do have to tune the phase even you have only 1 sub when needed. When the sub and your speakers output the same frequency, they have constructive and destructive interference in those nodes......... just sit down where you listen to the speakers and try them to be 0degree or 180 is better bass for your system
  4. Get the thicker bags in pet shops(which is similar to the one you get when u get the fish from them). Put those fish in and move them? Rest of the plants/etc just left them into the tank and cut half the water off when you drive?(If you can't move the tank you have to get a truck from friends or some service). BTW if u do this way remember to balance the temperature inside the bag and the tank again before u put the fish into the bag or back to the tank(they don't regulate their tempature, you can't throw them into cold water bath in seconds, they can't make it).

In regards to a separate DVD copier component that you hook up to TV or Receiver do they perform the same way as the one in the computer? Will it have the same quality? ---------------- if u want to compress the video into 1 disk, get DVDShrink. If you want to have original quality, go for DVDXCopy, it's the easiest one but I guess you have to pay for it? (Other may give u better clue about 2disks one) Computer's DVD quality is limited off many things..... especially the video card. That's why you get a $500 dvd player but not a $500 desktop that can play everything
  6. ---------------- On 2/23/2004 11:25:45 PM skonopa wrote: The RF-7s are not all black. You can get them in cherry or maple also. I've seen a pair of the cherry ones, and I thought they look gorgeous. Make me wish I've gotten mine in cherry instead of the black, but the friggan deelar here wanted $200 more. I went with black. ---------------- What about the maple?? Sometimes at least better than black(all the electronics, monitor, laptop, desktop cases are all BLACK)..... the cherry color is still the best i've seen tho.... I've them as RB-5II .
  7. All the way to Klipsch....... absolutely no comparison Logitech still had it's compariable speakers when it was 4.1....(Z560 to PM 4.1)...... after that no more......... They bought the labtec up but I wonder why they didn't use the technology in Labtec well, I had a set of 2.1 of Labtec 7years ago(purchased around 7years ago) and the sub beats all the Logitech speakers.

Arrggh....There should be more effort to adapt "REAL STANDARDS" like IEEE 1394/Firewire Uh Okayyyyyyyyyyyyy ???????? ---------------- Someday........... I'd like to hear some real estate tag the house is THX Certed and become a selling point for those agents

Using my G5, I find it difficult to copy big studio blockbuster movies with a DVD burner because 1) i think the only blank DVD-R and DVD-RW are 4.7BG in memory, and most movies with DTS and/or Dolby Digital are somewhere in the 6-7GB realm, and 2) most studio distributed films (Universal, Miramax, Columbia/Tristar, Paramount etc. as opposed to independently released) have copy protection and encryption. ---------------- I do lower the video quality by using dvdshrink............. sometimes it comrpess to the 50% of the normal one but I still can't distinguish from the original copy. Well I don't own a good eye sight(got defected eyes..... weak sight), some people may be able to distinguish them. No matter it's backup or original copy.... I run for myself and I can't distinguish them except I know which sound track was cut (if you throw me 2 copies and they don't cut any sound tracks..... I can't figure it out lol) Perhaps I may figure out when I use projector later(the only screen that can show the full resolution of DVDs around is the computer monitor, they are too small to make a difference) BTW check out vcdhelp.com, it may give u better clue for backing up those disks. No more losing DVDs and buying the same DVDs because you can't read the disk again

If so does it copy everything from the source including the Dolby digital tracks (5.1 or 6.1) and or DTS/DTSes? or the copy just gets standard stereo output audio? Any thoughts? ---------------- I mostly backup the disks that every single one I have. Sometimes when my cousins or uncles take away in another home and I lost some of disks like this situation(my Pianist, Sleepy Hollow, The Others are scatched. I can't watched some scenes now, Gangs of New York are gone), now I just bring a copy back home and watch with them..... however I do copy the DTS for myself and dolby digital for others. Well just depends no what equipment you have around. But for the THX cert DVDs, most of them sound better on dolby digital instead of DTS track. Rest of them I love them to be DTS . And now I'm barely borrow DVDs outside my room except under my supervision or I borrow them the back up disk(I still take back after that tho, otherwise I've to make another back up)
  13. Check this link out, that's more than you need Too many brands here that I can't recall all of them(if I missed one, it'd be unfair. So better throw the link out) http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=45842&sessionID={D3908ECC-5CC1-4ED0-A860-60E7530D8E39}
  14. I had tried using serveral macs in school....... the only answer came out is they keep poping one message of not enough memory. Gee I open a single pdf file or power point presentation that gave me such not enough memory, how much is enough for 500k files? I'd stay with PC......... even you don't pick windows there's still more choices like linux. The hardware just much easier to be bought and cheaper
  15. I had my KSB 1.1 as main and just switched to RB-5II. Perhaps a big gap between them but here's what I figured out: really really clearer sound, especially when it gets to mid-low. My pair of KSB 1.1 seem don't produce too much detail as nycg as RB-5II some mp3(sure increase dynamic range for the speaker) I guess the ref series also have better crossover between using it's woofer and tweeter. Just because u want more arrows pass thru your ears and more bass hit your heart when you are watching movie. I don't own floorstanding models of those but synergy's floorstanding speakers handle those mid-low much better than it's bookshelf series(try to find them in BB, there's alot). Can't comment about those RF yet..... I don't own one, but the majority in the forum owns RF-3s/RF-7s, they are able to give u better significants for that Hope it helps

This isn't cable, it's DSL. ---------------- Aww..... seems everyone's limited by their choices..... I got no DSL can install here. I don't own a home phone , I got my cell phone that doesn't blow my bill every month and that'll be extra payment for both phone and DSL(more than the cable that I'm using). But well any choices will be better than the 56k

I'm sorely tempted to grab a batch of them, are they solid feeling when plugged in? G2 ---------------- Yea it's the speakerrepair, check this link out http://www.stores.ebay.com/id=2112204&ssPageName=L2 They are more solid than I thought...... actually they are using the screws for compressing the cable, not the one just simply compression by two parts. But you also need to get the tiny screwdrivers (-type for around 1mm) in order to drive the screws too. And one more note that they sell plugs as in single number. When they say 20plugs that means 10pairs, so read the numbers carefully(I got myself 40 plugs ). It accepts up to 10guage I guess, I got mine as 12guage that's close to it's limit. However I don't recommend to any others that use 16guage or smaller for the banana plug, I tried 4types of plugs so far and none of them can hold the cables that lower than 16 guage well(I had 16guage speakers with the PM 5.1 sub, 14-16 guage was its limit). I'd like to hear someone get the locking plugs someday, I couldn't afford it tho(because I switched the whole system's plug up, 40plugs would be $100 for it).
  18. I moved twice within 1.5 years........ just couldn't live without broadband...... (those week for transitional waiting...... I didn't stay in home more than 2hours other than sleeping every day until I got the broadband) Enjoy the fast speed that blows 56k away If there's a chance, get the optimum online or roadrunner..... I'm using optimum online that gives me 4500kbps (around 550k/sec )

Still, what you have now is going to be very nice. Enjoy what you have now. You are still young, so you got plenty of time to move up the line as your budget and tastes change. Hell, what you got now was way more than what I had at your age while going to college. All I had was a friggan boombox. ---------------- Absolutely! I'm considering to stop for speakers after the sub and surronud will be changed, then go ahead with amp or videos........ long way for "upgrading"(or being ripped off? ) But still, this pair of RB-5II have more than I was expected. When I thought "ok it started to be completely warmed up and here's its limit", there's another peak for better sound coming up . Nothing I can say other than I love them (thank god my girl friend doesn't read this forum )
  20. It seems the assumption was correct, it gets better after warming up for hours Still need more tho

They will certainly be a step up from what you had before. I guess now it time you can finally ditch those PreMedia satellites. ---------------- Yea, the satallites can finally go back to the pro 4.1's sub and I'm thinking of bringing them to school's lab later. This pair will be the step before full tower at the moment, RF-5s are just too expensive for me(like double the price as this pair of RB-5II, 1100 at least). I was going to buy the RF-3II thru ebay or others, but changed my mind when I found out there's a pair of RB-5II for $500 with shipping and warranty The SBS are going to the back surround...... didn't have time to finish them tonight tho
  22. here's the banana plugs with the sound king 12guage speakers...... look quite nice....... but sounds much better than the previous speakers I had(16guage monster cable) well they look nice too(altho I can't look at them when they are hooked )
  23. Just recieved this evening as I came back......... the speakers look really nice to me. Even they are cherry(didn't have the black color, sold out), for a pair of RB-5II at $500 is really nice(opened box). It's little bit too big for the table that kicked the reciever to aside again Still warming them up while 12am here...... sounds a little better than I just recieved but not completely correct pitch yet

CC Sakura my klipsch sf-2 sound amazing on violin solos. That's truly what struck me in awe and i am not a huge fan of that type of music but it is nice to have speakers that inpire all kinds of music ---------------- You are using similar reciever/amp or??? I believe they won't have the problem with different recievers/amps because I knew Elites are little brighter than Denon or HK. Well I'll look forward for a warmer amp once one more upgrade on surround speakers
