  1. C&S- I'll assume from the picture that we are to assign a name to the *new* mystery babe. Looking at the photo I'm thinking she's early 20's and the photo is late 1920's which means that there is a 95 % chance that that 99% of the women with her birthday are dearly departed. Is that a clue? This message has been edited by John Warren on 03-22-2002 at 06:09 PM
  2. C&S- Try this- Go back to the "Remember her?" thread and scroll down to any one of the posts that has a picture displayed in the post (go to the one with Cyd Charise in the red dress, my favorite). At the bottom frame of that post you will see the *edit* button, click it. What comes up will be the text of the post along with the UBB code format for inserting a picture. Take a look at it, examine it. The "http:/...." address for the picture must be resident in a server somewhere, Klipsch provides the server. You load it onto the LLC server when you upload. After uploading you can view it, when you view it you will see the address. You can cut and paste the address into the post using the "Insert Picture" button. Also, stay away from using a personal account server or web page to load your images from (like Justin does), you will get hacked. Use the LLC server. Every post has the edit feature and it displays server information, address, parent directory, etc. used by that member. This message has been edited by John Warren on 03-22-2002 at 06:42 AM
  3. The current driver K33-E is the proper LF unit for Klipschorns with the 3X13inch throat. A *conventional* driver can be used for 6X13 inch throat.
  4. HornEd- My pleasure. At 81 she's STILL a *babe*.
  5. CYD CHARISE IS CORRECT! HornEd-born in Amarillo Texas (as you state) in 1921. Also, I'm done, it's someone else's turn to torment. This was when she was at her prime (1952) This message has been edited by John Warren on 03-20-2002 at 05:38 PM
  6. more clues... started life out as a ballet dancer.
  7. Julia Childs! Huh? That's BEYOND no! fini, no. (think "legs")
  8. You can load "sounds" too. This message has been edited by John Warren on 03-20-2002 at 05:57 AM
  9. your all running out of steam.... one more picture of the mystery cook, date is around 1953 (hint, today she's 81 years old and still kicking!) This message has been edited by John Warren on 03-19-2002 at 08:11 PM
  10. Got my parts (four 2123J's). Brand new, everything in good working order. These are 10" mid-drivers with 16 ohm nom. impedance (98dB/2.83V/m), flat from 100Hz-5.5kHz. wired in parallel, a pair will produce 104dB/2.83V/m, a nice match for a Klipschorn LF unit.
  11. C&S-Masina's first film was called "City Lights", also a Fellini film. LaStrada was next and was Quinn's big break.
  12. Malcolm-I've cut into Russian ply that is stamp certified to DIN 68705 and found voids. Your experience is different. My lumber yard carries CANPLY cert'ed products. I have purchased premium quality, veneer core Canadian birch ply product, so far so good. My next project will be using a product made by Georgia-Pacific called Fiber-Ply. It is a veneer core plywood manufactured using paper thin plys. It cuts like MDF but has higher glue and screw holding capacity. The core veneers are hardwood, face veneers come in many species. Cost is about $75/sheet for 3/4" thk. Comes in 1/2, 3/4 and 7/8" thickness. Has a density about same as MDF ~45lbs/cubic ft. Why did you purchase 40 sheets of plywood? Are you a cabinet maker, speaker manufacturer? This message has been edited by John Warren on 03-17-2002 at 08:02 PM
  13. Q-The AL-3 is similar to the AK-3 except for the woofer capacitor and the tweeter clipping circuit. Also the Klipschorn response curves measured by Trey using both the AK-3 and Al's network show similar performance. Al uses better components so the resultant losses associated with the chokes and caps might be a little lower.
  14. There are two types of plywood, veneer-core and lumber-core. veneer-core is 3, 5, 7, 9, or 14-plys glues together to form the board, lumber-core is 3 or 5-ply. the thickness of the board determines the number of plys used. the type of glue that is used to bond the plys determines its classification (technically water proof Type-I, fully waterproof Type-II, water resistant Type-III). based on tonnage, Canada supplies most of the plywood to the USA. Canadian plywood is stamped "Product of Canada". When you buy plywood look closely at the edges and look for inconsistencies in the ply patterns. Plywood from Russia is full of defects, the edges are "filled" to hide large voids in the plys. MDF has higher density than plywood, it is better material for loudspeaker enclosures than Fir or Birch plywood. it is a challenge to cut, need carbide and solid setup. the dust is extremely fine. one other thing- 12mm and 18mm plywood are sold as 1/2" and 3/4", respectively. Make sure that you know what thickness you are buying. For most jobs its no big deal, but if you are building a Klipschorn, it makes a big difference. 15. HornEd- Spot on! The stills are from the movie "Repulsion" her first really big hit in the US, directed by Polanski. This message has been edited by John Warren on 03-16-2002 at 11:43 AM
  16. HornEd/Fini- Sharon Tate and A-M are good guesses but incorrect. Polansky was the Director I was referring to. The picture was taken when the actress was 22. She is now 60 (+/-) It should be easy now.
  17. Justin-Isn't it is obvious that these eyes belong to a human? Your answer is incorret. DLU-not a bad guess but no. some hints 1. the picture was used in the movie promo. 2. the director had to "leave the country"
  18. the photo of this actress was taken in 2000.
  19. chickey-NO! Your not even close!!! McLLC-does it really matter?
  20. ok....just to let you know that I also find "living" women interesting too, who's this??
