  1. I can't really see how you have your cords running from your rack to your speakers / TV. Did you run them underneath the floor through the basement?
  2. This farmer has about 200 hens, but no rooster, and he wants chicks. So, he goes down the road to the next farmer and asks if he has a rooster which he would sell. The other farmer says, "Yeah, I've got this great rooster, named Randy. He'll service every chicken you got, no problem." Well, Randy the rooster costs a lot of money, but the farmer decides he'd be worth it. So, he buys Randy. The farmer takes Randy home and sets him down in the barnyard, first, giving the rooster a pep talk, "Randy, I want you to pace yourself now. You've got a lot of chickens to service here, and you cost me lot of money. Consequently, I'll need you to do a good job. So, take your time and have some fun," the farmer said, with a chuckle. Randy seemed to understand, so the farmer points toward the hen house, and Randy took off like a shot. - WHAM! - Randy nails every hen in the hen house - three or four times, and the farmer is really shocked. After that the farmer hears a commotion in the duck pen, sure enough, Randy is in there. Later, The farmer sees Randy after flock of geese, down by the lake. Once again - WHAM! He gets all the geese. By sunset he sees Randy out in the fields chasing quail and pheasants. The farmer is distraught - worried that his expensive rooster won't even last 24 hours. Sure enough, the farmer goes to bed and wakes up the next day, to find Randy dead as a doorknob - stone cold in the middle of the yard. Buzzards are circling overhead. The farmer, saddened by the loss of such a colorful and expensive animal, shakes his head and says, "Oh, Randy, I told you to pace yourself. I tried to get you to slow down, now look what you've done to yourself." Randy opens one eye, nods toward the buzzards circling in the sky and says, "Shhh, they're getting closer.
  3. Time to get some surge protection. How many joules protection do I need and can anyone recommend a brand/model. Do I also need one with a noise filtering. Thanks for your response.
  4. Yep, just checked it is the Hey Stupid album. Joe Satriani did alot of work on this album. He even tag teamed the song "Hey Stupid" with Slash (Guns n' Roses).
  5. Stevie Vai and Joe Satriani are guitar gods. They both actually played together and traded licks along with Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx on an Alice Cooper song, "Feed My Frankenstein" The song is on the Hey Stupid album(woops 1991). Off the top of my head I believe that's what it is called.
  6. Another great guitar rif, one that you always air guitared to is Asia, "heat of the moment." It's a wus rock song, but the chords are great.
  7. I must say i have jammed out to Kix too, I'm not sure I wanted to admit it. Motorhead Kicks all *** though.
  8. Once again Big Ears you have hit the spot. Slayer is a great 80's metal band. Growing up I too had a pounding Alpine system, but mine was in an 83' Cutlass. Yes, those were the good old days.
  9. props to the old Metallica as well, great stuff. "Seek and Destroy" is a great Metallica song too
  10. Awesome selections Big Ears, they hit the spot. DIO ROCKS!
  11. I am in the mood to crank my Klipsch to some 80's guitar music. Please offer your suggestions. The only requirements is that the selection has to be from the 80's, contain a jammin' guitar rif and it has to ROCK (I have a soft spot for screaming guitars). I'll start out with a personal favorite, it doesn't scream like I would like it to, but it has a great rif and it ROCKS: Van Halen, "Cabo Wabo"
  12. I am looking to trade my mint condition KSW-12 sub and cash for a RSW-12 in good condition. I would like for the transaction to take place in Wisconsin or Northern Illinois. If interested shoot me a line ragingalcoholics@yahoo.com
  13. Which speaker would you choose for rear surround sound during movies and why? It has to be timbre matched with RF3II / RC3II. RB3, RB5II, or RS3II
  14. The display says DVD DTS and when I check the sound format it says, DTS General.
  15. Just my rears, the front sounds great. My dsp's aren't overlayed.
  16. I am not quite sure what you mean about having dsp's overlayed?
  17. I do not have control over the amount of effect output in my receiver. My center, mains and sub sound great. It is in my rear speakers where the sound isn't matched up, there is an echo like everything is being done in a tunnel. I will keep tinkering.
  18. Thanks for the reply, my DVD player is set to bitstream.
  19. In my DTS modes I can not get the sound from my rear speakers to match the fronts. My movies sound like people are talking in a tunnel. I have tried adjusting the delay and this doesn't help. As suggested my another forum member I even switched my receiver to DTS mode from Auto and this didn't help either. I am so upset that I watch my movies in my 5 channel stereo mode. How can I fix this?
  20. Sorry, my room is 17x12 with the only opening being a 8x4 door. It is carpeted and dry walled. My equipment is centered on the 17' wall with my listening position 12' away on the other 17' wall. Hope this helps.
  21. Hello again, I have a KSW-12 sub and a Yamaha RX-V520 receiver. For movies, what should my LFE level be set at? How many db's? -7 is what i have it set at now. Please advise.

    Yamaha's

I would like to talk about echo. I realize there is meant to be an echo in different sound formats such as the "Hall" format. I, however, receive a loud and I think distracting echo when watching movies using my DTS and digital 5.1 General setting. This echo comes from effects that go through my rear channels. All of the "intense" effects through my rear channels sound great. The subtle effects such as background noise or talking in a movie come out of my rear speakers with an echo. I don't think the movie people intended it to echo this much. In my opinion the General setting shouldn't have this. 1. Is this the way yamaha's sound? or 2. Can I fix this someway in my settings? (I have tried playing with the delay with no results. Thanks, I hope this is clear enough

    Delay

Thanks for the info, you just touched on something though that I also have a question on. You mentioned echo. I realize there is meant to be an echo in different sound formats such as the one you listed (Hall). I, however, receive a loud and I think distracting echo when watching movies using my DTS General setting. This echo comes from effects that go through my rear channels. Such as when someone walks into an office and there is a typewriter in the background. This typewriter sounds comes out great through the rear channels, but it has one hell of an echo with it. I don't think the movie people intended it to echo. In my opinion the General setting shouldn't have this. 1. Is this the way yamaha's sound? or 2. Can I fix that someway in my settings? (I have tried playing with the dealy with no results. Thanks, I hope this is clear enough

    Effects

So if I have my receiver set to 5.1, am I going to get the same sound coming out of each speaker or are there going to be different tracks of sound coming out of seperate speakers?

    Delay

Ahhh, so if my rear speakers were 8 feet to the sides of my listening position I would adjust my delay on my receiver to 8?
