  1. Whatever you choose just make sure you remove the case and get all the packaging and cardboard from around the tubes. I really went to town with the packaging. I hope you enjoy and let the obsession begin. [] P.S. I wouldn't say that it's broken in yet. It was rebuilt about 3 years ago but it was used for the rear channels of a DVD/A - SACD setup so it may have about 30 hours total.
  2. I think deang had a pair of the Quad II tube amps. These are solid state amps, but are supposed to be very tube-like in sound. Never heard or seen them. Must've been popular in the UK as Pink Floyd is said to have had these in their studio for 10 years. I think they're only 45w so if you're under power go with a bigger amp or more sensitive speakers.
  3. Thanks guys for the responses. I've already spoken with Craig regarding these, since he's done all my rebuilds so far. I'm not sure a rebuild is needed just yet, as these sound pretty darn good as is. As far as the 12AU7 question, I found a pair of RCA cleartops that came with my Foreplay so I'm using those. I still would like to know exactly what these telefunkens are. They look exactly like the 12AX7. If I get my camera back I'll post some pics.
  4. Nope, not the ECC numbers. I wish they still had those. It's the numbers on the bottom between the pins above or in the middle of the diamond. I think it's a 28 (I'm at work right now and the tubes are at home). They're probably build numbers or for dating purposes or something else.
  5. I have an extra K-77 that I picked up from my local Klipsch dealer as a spare, but I've never needed it. Your welcome to it if you want. I think I paid $50 for it and it is the M version.
  6. So I picked up a pair of MC-30 locally; and I was doing some tube rolling. The Telefunkens that were in the 12AU7 spot have no markings on them besides the telefunken symbol. I was wondering if there is a way to tell a 12AX7 from a 12AU7? They do have numbers underneath where the diamond is. I was also wondering how do you bias the tubes on these 30's?
  7. The older Kailins had an etched blue face on them and when they'd light up, it looked like neon.
  8. Try Crown D-150A Series 2. 75W @ 8ohms or 150W @ 4ohms
  9. Welcome to the Forum... let the madness begin. Forte's are an excellent choice, what Fisher will you be using?
  10. Oh I forgot to ask. How does that 3 ch. album sound in 2 ch.? Do you feel something missing?
  11. Is that a Cornwall center in the first ad?? Looks like a Rebel in the second one, with those racing stripe-like bands. Cool ads Parrot.
  12. I don't use anything. I have both amps (Scott299B & a Sony HTR) wired to my Khorns. I just make sure that they're both not on at the same time and it's never an issue.
  13. If your looking for new, I doubt you'll find much that'll meet you price point. I'd suggest a decent Vintage Scott 299B. Are you wanting to sell them or keep them? Why do you insist on hitting the return key after any or every arbitrary point? Looks like you're trying to write a Haiku. 14. shload, Oh, I got ya. That's the dB gain w/ the Cream Option. It's a little misleading, but I think it was unintentional. here's a link to the auction in question: http://cgi.ebay.com/Blueberry-Tube-Preamp_W0QQitemZ5880429374QQcategoryZ14974QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
