  1. Hi everyone. I just thought I would let you know that there is a piar of Belles on ebay. Here is the link . http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=61378&item=5763733750&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
  2. Hi, I just finished cleaning my Belles and they turned out beautiful. I used 0000 steel wool very lightly to take off a very thin layer of dirt and than wiped it off. I used tong and teak oil . put on the oil and let stand for a bout 20 minutes. than buff with a soft lint free cloth. you can repeat the process 24 hours later for more shinier finish. I hope this helps. I will post some pictures of my Belles later this evening.
  3. Hi . Well I took out the woofer from the speaker that had to much bass and guess what? the accordion cloth surround had 2 separate tears. across from each other. I also felt that the woofer was not as stiff as my other woofer. I will replace it with one from my la scala which is much stiffer and has no tears and will see what happens. Oh one more thing. is it better for the woofer to be stiffer or not and is the problem of the greater bass from the stiffness or the tears? thanks klipsch kid.
  4. Hi again. you have all been a load of information and I appreciate it. I now have to call on you one more time. my new old klipsch belle have allot of dust on the AA crossovers. is there a easy and safe way to clean them? should I use one of those air in a can things or just take them off and turn them upside down and shake them? thanks again. klipsch kid.
  5. thanks. I am still trying to figure out why one of my belles has more bass than the other.
  6. can you take off the grills on the belles? if so how. thanks the new guy
  7. Hi, I took out the tin foil and it still seems to have greater bass than the speaker with out the tin foil. I am just concerned that it will cost me allot to figure out what the problem is. I think it can be only 3 things. 1 the driver, 2 the crossover, or 3 the cabinet. I just don't know what to do. I have been wanting a pair of these speakers for the longest time and when I was finally able to afford them and get them home, I was very disappointed. when I opened the other cabinet with no tinfoil , I saw some small tinfoil pieces. I think that both boxes at one time had this tinfoil insulator and one box was cleared of it. it dos look like it was from the factory because the tinfoil was stapled on the inside. Please advise. thanks

  10. Hi everyone. I have just purchased a set of klipsch belles from 1977.i have been looking for a pair for a long time. when I hooked them up I quickly noticed that one of the speakers had a more pronounced bass sound. I did all the usual switching of the speakers from left to right and found that it was not the position of the speakers. I moved the whole cabinet that was on the right to the left side of the room and the left cabinet to the right side and guess what? now the bass was more pronounced on the other side. this leads me to believe that it is not the speaker placement. I tried to listen closely with the treble turned down and the bass is greater always in the same speaker. in that speaker when I opened the bottom I saw a the interior covered with tin foil and a thick material lined and covered with tin foil also. the back of the woofer magnet is also all black, but when I opened the other speaker, the back of the woofer magnet was silver. they are both k33 woofers. Also one more thing . the speaker that had the tinfoil also had the word shielding written on the sticker on the back of the cabinet . the one with the signatures and serial numbers on it. please help as I am wondering if I got stiffed with a bad pair of speakers. I think that they came from the factory this way since it was hand written on the sticker paper. Any information would be greatly appreciated . thanks my fellow klipsch fans. oh I almost forgot . the high frequencies sound fine. I also checked my preampn and the cd on a second pair of speakers my small speakers are fine so I think its the belles.
  11. Hi, I was just wondering , when did klipsch change from ply wood to fiber board. I have a set of 1977 klipsch belles and just wanted to know if they are from fiber board or from plywood. also can some one please tell me what is considered a better construction. thanks for all your help. I am new to this board and would like to say that I have been reading some of the posts and they have been very informative. thanks
  12. what? I don't understand. these la scala speakers open up from the top. they look like they are all original.
  13. Hi, I just got a set of old la scala speakers. they are very weird. they open up from the top , not the bottom. the seriel number has a m for the letter. can anyone tell me how old they are? they have AA crossovers with big metal cans.
  14. Hi, can anyone tell me if the t35b 16 ohm tweeter is a good replacement for a k77 tweeter. and what the is the major difference between the t35a and the t35b. please help. thanks

  16. Hi, i don't know why you can't get clear pics. I looked at these on this page and it looks ok from here. thanks for the info . i will try this. Is there any way I can send you some jpegs of these?
  17. Hi hdbr builder. I'm the new guy. I was thinking to refinish my new old 1978 la scalas because originally they were raw birch, but someone has apparently stained and laquerd them. I don't like the color. they have some minor chips in the wood and I wanted to refinish them in nice dark cherry color. the wood on these speakers is nice. it looks almost like it has some kind of burled wood. I would appreciate your advice before trying to refinish these. can you please give me your thoughts on where I should start and what I should or should not do. here are some pics. thanks. .
  18. thanks. I am thinking now to refinish my new old 1978 la scalas. i think i can do a good job and make them look like new again. i will still post the pictures of what they look like now so you guys can let me know what you think. thanks.
  19. can anyone tell me how I can post a jpeg of my speakers.
  20. hey guys, thanks for all your input. the problem seemed to have disappeared as i played the speakers for a while. I don't know if it has to do with the speakers playing for a long time or if it had to do with the amp warming up enough. I have an older toshiba xb-1000 integrated amp.
  21. Hello klipsch lovers. it's the new guy. I have noticed a crackling static sound in one of my tweeters. I have checked the amp and it appears to be ok. the static crackling noise seems to come and go, I think it could be a crossover problem . is it very hard to fix or could it really be the tweeter. any suggestions? these are 1978 klipsch la scalas with athe alnico magnets.
  22. .I will call them tomorrow and find out exactly what I have. I will try to post some pictures
