  1. I'm in upgrade mode. I just ordered a Denali Sub from Kyle at Acoustic Visions and now pondering upgrade options for the RP-5's. I spent a couple hours at Sound Advice listening to RF-7's, 5's and RB-3II's to compare sound from my Yamaha RX-V1. I've noticed that Yamaha's and RF-7's and 5's are said to be Bright or "forward" (not sure what forward is) in this forum. I found this to be true, in fact the 7's were almost too bright. Actually liked the RB-3's the best with the Yamaha although they definately need a sub to augment the low end. I like the Yamaha for the DSP modes especially in music(I know, I'm not a purist) Listen to 50-50 music/movies. My problem, now, is that I also listened to the Monitor Audio Gold 60's with the Yamaha. Awesome. But $$$!!! Question. Should I switch to another brand Receiver or switch to Monitor Audio? Any Comments? Rexx
  2. Plasma flat screen prices are falling rapidly but still much more expensive than RPTV. My brother was waiting to buy thinking that Plasma prices would be comparable to RPTV. Pioneer Elite 50" is awesome but still near 9 grand. Can buy 3 or 4 RPTV's for that. I think I'd go with the RPTV. But I have a larger room and need bigger than 50".
  3. Just browsing Ebay looking for RF-7's and noticed an auction for a pair of RB-75's. Are they available now? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3014090910&category=14991
  4. Now if it will just work when I plug it in
  5. After some problems with credit card verification requiring 3 phone calls to resolve the Denon 3803 arrived today. Brand new and in sealed box BUT a third party warranty registration. Warranty covers parts and labor for three years. I guess they are not an authorized vendor. There was no charge for the warranty.
  6. Currently only RX-Z1 and RX-V3300 have front effects channels. RX-V1 and DSP-A3090 are some of previous models as well as those listed above.
  7. http://www.buydig.com/shop.php?prod_id=DN3803 I just ordered a 3803 for My Inlaws from this site. They are known to be slow though.
  8. Stereo modes are probably more "correct" unless you are listening to DVD-Audio or SACD which are recorded in up to 6 channels (including LFE) But I think whatever you like is good. I have Yamaha Receiver which has many enhanced stereo modes. Some are good, some can do without. Also different sources are better on different modes. Don't know about Parasound stuff.
  9. I generally buy all my equipment over the internet. The main reason is availabilty. Local high end A/V Dealer quit stocking Klipsch and Yamaha. They can order it but at a much higher price than is available online. My question to you is why the switch from Yamaha? I recently upgraded my 3090 for an RX-V1. Excellent receiver and can be had for around $1K new now that it has been replaced with the RX-Z1. Did you have problems with the 3090? Rexx Yamaha RX-V1 RP-5 Mains RS-3II Surround RC-3 II Center Custom Built Sub No Front Effects at the moment
  10. Mains are RP-5's. Center RC-3II. Surrounds are RS-3II's. Anyone with similar Yamaha Receiver (8 channel)? Will RS-3's work well for the front effects speakers? Or would RB-5's be better?
  11. What are bucking magnets and how are they applied? Does anyone know if the sub portion in the RP-5's are shielded?
  12. My brother bought a pair of RP-5's after listening to mine. When he placed them in his room his tv picture turned green even before he connected the speakers and plugged them in. The speakers are placed 6 feet from the tv. Could they be causing intereference from that distance? Klipsch specs say horn and mid bass are shielded but doesn't say anything about the Subs. If the speakers are the culprit is there a solution other than move them further away? Thanks in advance.
  13. I too have a CD Changer (for convenience) and a separate DVD. The CD changer is older and plan to replace it with a DVD changer when one is available that plays both DVD Audio and SACD. The DVD player is a few months old (Panasonic DVP-91) plays multiple formats including DVD-A but not SACD. As more and more HD Audio becomes available in both formats the need for a multiformat changer grows but I will always keep a dedicated higher quality DVD for Video. Rexx
  14. Thx for the reply. The Yamaha is 6.1 setup (one center rear) plus 2 additional front effects. My configuration would be similar to yours. Rexx
