  1. I just looked at a 40 ft. Oak limb that fell at one of my rent houses. It caught a panel of the neighbor's fence. My tennant saw it fall and said it looked like an entire tree was comming down. Luckily, that was all that was damaged. About half of the base of the limb had rotted, only in one spot. Weird. Chainsaw time.

  2. Bigaycy,

Most schools use software like Turnitin.com that easily recognizes plaigarism. It highlites published papers down to a phrase. When I taught Comp I & II, my students were astounded when I showed them the reports I could generate. So were parents when they complained about the 'F' earned when I showed them that their child's entire paper was highlited for plaigarism. All of those were bought. Get him a tutor to help with the assignment.

  3. Since we didn't have a TV in the early 50s, I looked at a lot of test screens accross the street from our house waiting for programming to come on.  I do remember our first color TV. My dad got it for Christmas, said he'd rented it for the holidays, then told us Christmas morning that it was ours.

  4. I made pepper jelly using a 7 Pot Brain strain batch of peppers. They were harvested while green. After filling jars, I gave a neighbor some of the "scrapings". The next day, I asked him how he liked it. He replied, "It was OK." I didn't ask for a clarification. It wasn't killer hot, to me.

  5. I won't be much help, Joe, since I recently sucommed to my desire for some 362s and a 215. I think the last audio gear that I resisted was a pair of Tenor monoblocks, and I wish I'd bought them. I need amps just as much as I need speakers, but the lust must some day be satisfied. Now, wasn't that helpful?

  6. I think you have great patience, or persistence, if you can read any Rand four times, lol! It is wholesome to reread, however.

I had to read it and listen to it being read aloud five times a day, for fifty minutes each period (with discussion and commentary) for about six of my teaching years.

  7. I roughnecked in the AR oilfields for a friend's company in the early 70s. The mud pump froze-up. Our driller stood squatted between the pump and the mud pit looking at the pump. The pop-off valve, about the size of a small can, shot off hitting him square on his forehead. It knocked him into the mud pit and we had to fish him out, unconscious. It looked like a cartoon in real life; it knocked him 10-12 feet in the air.
