  1. The wife and I watch the two nights of the season premier and then quit. Then wait until December for it to come out on DVD. With the exception of News, documentary, some PBS this is the only tv production I will watch. Content on network TV yeah sure, I just wish the view and the apprentice were on back to back! lol.
  2. I purchased this set in the beginning of December, I think it is great! I do have a problem with the ATSC tuner failing on startup, the set is do to be exchanged next week. I use OTA broadcasts, good quality signals (780p / 1080i) provide spectacular results, standard (480i) can look very good if the broadcast station does it right. I have watched a lot of DVDs (via HDMI connection) on it and am very impressed, you can tell the difference between a good transfer and a poor one. I have also had a couple of PCs hooked up to it, one through the VGA port and one via a DVI-HDMI cable, I am satisfied with the VGA connection (limited to 1024 X 768) but it really shines with the DVI-HDMI hookup (1080p - 1920x1080 resolution), does anyone think the S-Video outputs on the old cards were in any way acceptable? The picture quality is all about signal, garbage in garbage out. Best Buy had an analog RF signal going into the on on display in my area and did not adjust any of the settings and it looked ok, they really could throw a better signal at this though. I am not going to pay the price to be an early adopter of the 1080p HD players, I will wait to see how the the standards shake out and prices to fall. I second the 2000+ post thread on this set on AVS for detailed comments.
  3. I have been really enjoying Pink Floyd Pulse and Rush R30! I still get the urge to throw in Talking Heads, Stop Making Sense from time to time.
  4. Thanks m00n, been a bit of a lurker and have learned quite a bit from these forums. My brother turned me on the the RF3 a couple of years ago and I finally bit the bullet last fall with no regrets. BTW nice work on your setup!
  5. I have the same speakers as you with the Denon 1803 my hearing is OK but not great. I am very happy with this receiver with the exception of the remote, the wife is still not trained up on it. I would have liked an onscreen setup display rather than the LED readout, but once setup I have not fooled with it much, also less likely to have the kids "adjust it" for me. I have a typical 80's house the room this set up is in is about 16 X 30 feet. I do not have a sub yet perhaps a DIY in the future. The sound with this system for HT or music far surpasses anything that I have had previously and goes loud enough to have the neighbors ask me to turn it down, this was in winter with the windows closed (with the wife and kids gone). I considered the HK 525 and just did not want to spend that much, if I get the upgrade itch someday I may go HK and send the Denon to my brother.
