  1. They are really good, but can be very dangerous, and the extra cost of 4 or 5 gallons of oil added to the cost of a turkey.

They say you can reuse the oil but I don't know if that is a good idea, you would think something off the turkey, oils, fat, would remain in the oil and go bad ?

Now Smoked turkey is the best IMHO, love that smoke flavor.

  2. Samsung has been on the bleeding edge of DLP technology since Texas Instruments started selling their chips.

Mistubishi had some of the best quality CRT front (for computer monitors) and rear projection CRTs. RP CRT still has the best overall image quality for DvD movies when compared to any digital tech IMO.

Yep that's what think about RP CRT also and they are the cheapest. Under $1800 for 65" HD 1080I with almost any feature you could want. Toshiba

You would have to be nuts to look for something 1080P when 98% of what you can watch is not even 1080I, and it is not changing anytime soon. Buy something for now and by the time they have more programing of better quality the TV you buy today will be about worn out, and the newer technologies will be worked out a little better. IMHO

If they still make RP CRT's ?

  3. This may sound like a crazy question but have you tried a water bed ? The reason I asked is we had one for 20 years and it is much different than every other bed out there. It may not work but it is the only thing that is a drastic change from any other mattress .

Just a thought, hope she feels better whatever route y'all go.

  4. Ok so it's not the prettiest thing, I did kind of hurry up because I wanted to hear it. It is on wheels, although you can't really see them. It's to heavy to move without rolling but it does roll so you would think I could at least turn it around and get the dust off, but noooo.

  5. Is gambling back up yet in Bay St Louis? Last time I was there years ago I believe it was Casino Magic. Duran (Mr. No Mas) was fighting some no name that night.

Congrats on all the nuptials. That's jumping in the fire there Colter, especially if they are all on the same day.

    JT

According to my parents (they live in Pass Christian) - yes. Mom & Dad said it wasn't any where near as nice as the old Casino Magic (it's smaller) and the food isn't as good either.

OTOH - there's a new Casino opening up pretty soon in Clermont Harbor (east of Bay St, Louis and Waveland) that's suppose to be very nice.

dtel's....please make sure you take Michael to Beningo's (behind St. Stanislaus) in Bay St. Louis and show the man what a roast beef po-boy is with gravy and all the dressings. Heck - order him a shrimp po-boy and Barq's too! [:)] (sigh........me getting home sick.)

BTW - I'l be visiting my parents for Christmas from the 23rd to the 29th.

    Tom

We were going to drive along the coast so Michael could see it with the Katrina remodel, we will go look for Beningo's, I could use one of them po-boy's myself .

Also plan to show him St Bernard, 9th ward, NO East and the french Quarter during the day.

We will also bring him back to the French Quarter at night, wish it was Mardi Gras time, he would not belive Bourbon St on Mardi Gras day . [:o]

Also would like to take him to the House of Seafood in Bush La, it's not a fancy place at all, but they have a seafood buffet with all the local seafood boiled or fried, raw oysters and good deer sausage. Almost hurt myself last time we went there !

  6. I'm still here................Got a little stupid, did something I shouldn't have done, hurt my back , stubborn old fart, I'll never learn, always the hard way...........So, I try to relax, and don't think about doing things I shouldn't be doing.....yeah right.........I will now search for some thread where I can jump in a cause mayhem..................Have no fear...Oldbuckster is here............................

Let me guess, the Thebes came over and brought the TWINS ?[{][{][}][li]

  7. To tell the truth I the thing I am most excited about is " trying " to show Michael around the area, and to have him listen and give me some ideas on what I can do to improve my setup.

Everybody here knows how nice it is when someone that has years of experience can listen to your own setup and give a new opinion.

There is always room to improve, and it's easy to get stuck on a sound, or overwhelmed trying different speaker placement, and trying to figure out what sounds best ?

And it was hard to finally turn those La Sacla's over to Michael, they sounded very good .

Can't wait for advice ! Thanks , ahead of time.

  8. I've been using Dish for 10 years or so though haven't gone HD yet. Very satisfied. If it rains I lose the signal for +/- 3 minutes. Annoying but a necessary evil I suppose.

Dish Network's HD package, Voom, is worth the money, IMO.

You might want to try it out Arky.

    A lot of good concerts.[:)]

One thing, don't call DishNetwork at night, hardly anyone speaks English. And...sometimes you have to "operator shop" with them, they must have a high turnover rate.

Once our service was established everything went smoothly.

I have a plasma being delivered Tuesday so i'll upgrade to HD shortly. I have an old (18yrs) Toshiba rptv that just won't die & I have been holding out.

How is the sound quality on the concerts? I guess DD 5.1 at best.

    JT

The sound quality is very close to a DVD, It is 5.1, never really looked to see if it is ever 6.1. Watching John Mayer right now on Rave, on HDNET Sunday night they have some music specials, STYX is playing " one with everything" is the name of the concert from 8 to 10 pm. Robert Plant is on Rave next for an hour show, seen part of it last week, good show, probably look for the DVD.

  9. The reason I picked dish is because they had the most HD, A total of 16 channels not including HBO or Showtime HD, our local channels are not HD.

Direct tv had local channels and 2 or 3 others in Hd.

Our local cable, Charter has local channels and 2 or 3 others in Hd.

Unless it had changed in the last year Dish network had the best deal and the price was very close to Direct TV, cable was more then either sat company here.

Check your local cable company and see what they offer, then compare to both sat companies, go with the best deal ?

It is sad that it's almost 2007 and there are still very few Hd channels, and the 3 companies can't seem to share the HD local channels.

When we switched to sat we still had the cable connected to the TV. I could switch back and forth with the same channel on sat and cable and the picture on sat was much better !

  10. Michael's line is very true........... " Slow but steady- if you get tired of mudding- STOP, better to do less than leave any big mess to sand down the next day. "

The other thing is mud gets very heavy after a few hours you will feel muscles you didn't know you had. Also bad on your joints, ask my wife, she had overdone it and her joints hurt her for weeks.

  11. Your first post was in the nature of "which gun should I use."

Seeing as how there is NO documented record of humans ever being attacked by "big foot," you're much more likely to die from a rabid skunk bite - or maybe a shark attack out there in the north woods.

    James

Even with NO documented records of humans ever being attacked, you can bet your butt I would not be the first person killed. I would shoot it, if it attacked me even if I knew it was the last one on earth !

There is also only one Boomac as for as I know, carry a gun !
