  1. Happy birthday to come, glad you have some Forte's I think you will like them, hope you are suprised by the sound.[^]

Dtel, how do they sound at low volumes? I'm planning on replacing my Dahlquist M908's in my office which are 8" 2 way with dome tweeter. They sound exceptionally smooth. Room is 14x14 and its usually levels where I can converse on the phone.

Tried Heresies in there and they were too 'shouty'.

I might not be the best person to ask that , I have a little problem with hearing some mid and high frequencies at low volume, they just sound a little dull, but to me everything does a low levels .[:(]

I need a little volume to hear the upper half, my wife says i am deaf, somewhat true.

  2. I don't have one but I am wondering what would be a good preamp for that amp. What would be the least expensive way to go and upgrade later?

Just looking at options for after the holidays to drive the Clll's.

I had thought about tubes but that's a little to much $ right now being I would want around 20 to 30 wpc if tubes. And from all that I read the Mc 2505 or an old HK 630 or 930 would probably make me happy.

I do like McIntosh and it would cost more that the HK but it sounds like general opinion is the Mc sounds better. I also took in to consideration I know 0 about tube amps and their prices.

I thought the McIntosh would be much more expensive and was not considering one until I ran across one for $525 in good condition, made me think. If that is a ballpark price on one I may go that route, although when I am ready they will probably much more ?

Just thinking about what to do after the 1st of the year....Opinions................No 2 or 3 wpc please

  3. I made it a point to not to say disco, but that's what it was .

If you went to see live music it was rock or jazz but almost all the clubs were disco.

It was not the disco I was chasing!

What's strange is on dish network there is about 150 music channels , flipping thru them you find a bunch of music that sounds just like disco, but it's called everything but disco.

  4. If you worked in New Orleans East, do remember Sound Trek Audio, they had a store across Read rd from the mall. They also had a store on the service road in Metairie. I loved those stores, you never knew what kind of stuff they were going to get, it always was changing and they had good prices.

I miss real audio stores that don't just stick with just a few brands and never change or try something new.

  5. I'm sure envious of you Roy, for having a chance to work with PWK all those years

    dukesy[:$], seti, mark1101.

it was an honor to work for pwk........

    boy

How was it to work with him day to day, did he have the patience to explain when someone didn't understand what he was saying or doing or did it aggravate him ?

Just asking because most people here did not have a chance to meet him.

It will probably never happen but it would be great if the people who really knew him and worked with him would write a book even if short, reading the other book now. thanks

  6. Do you remember the Ground Pat'i restaurants from several years back and the audio systems they had??

We still have the Ground Pat'i restaurants. And they still have the great burgers & beer. But the open reel decks and the amps are long gone (along with the Heresy's). Some of the older locations still had the glass case built in to the wall where the audio equipment used to reside, now empty. I'm sure all of those will disappear with the post-K remodeling.

    Dave

Oh yea I remember Ground Pati restaurants but I don't remember the sound.

I ate ate at 3 different stores over a 2 year period and got very sick each time and never went back. The food was very good but something happened that was not good 3 times, may not even been them, could have been something else I had that day ?
