  1. For an example, a nominally rated 8 ohm speaker does not present an 8 ohm load constantly.

It depends on frequency, the ohm rating for each speaker or horn in the whole unit, plus the quality of crossover can be a factor.

Most of what I have seen in changing output on the Amplifiers is with units that have individual 16, 8, 4 ohm taps that you can hook up to. There are other ways, but this scenario is usually what is being flamed, discussed, etc.

Some amps can be bridged, thus in part offering a 4 ohm output with higher wattage output.

But the 8 ohm speaker can present 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, up to 12 ohms at different frequencies.

  2. Greetings:

After 38 years of Pro Sound equipment, I do agree with Griff regarding the quality of Behringer parts, R & D, etc. It is somewhat a case of you get what you pay for.

That said, I do remember the BIC TT's of the 1970's. Very nice performers, quiet, reliable, but some people shunned them as they "did not cost enough."

I still have a 960 and a 980 that give me no problems. The Behringer canbe bat, but the price one can buy them for makes a good cost vs benefit model.

I would personally go Ashly, as they are made in my County and an irreplacable friend works there. The quality in all forms is great.

Pro vs Home Audio - the Pro sometimes is put on an altar, simply because of the "Pro" association.

But as Tony stated there are points to start then to upgrade..In those upgrades you have to again examine price vs sonic quality. With some the Components owned mate very well.

So again I offer my approach of who is paying for the Equipment, tempered by agreement with Griff.

Even with Behringer, some of the assemblers take pride to put the best possible product out that they can. Sometimes that makes the difference in what is heard.

  3. In this new software they have installed, for a couple of weeks those of us with webtv could sign our user name, password and the SSL Secure sign in did nothing. We could change our passwords, sometimes get into the "MyeBay" summary page, but could not even search.

In the webtv user's talk, a number of people who had listed items could not do anything. It will be fun to see how the fees, how the bids at ending go and how many people leave negative feedbacks for sellers or buyers.

I can see the need for change, but as within the Department I was in, everything had to be checked out for user compatability before implementation.

Because of the problem eBay has lost a number of users. But that also caused people to re-register under a different name - for some that worked. Thus the higher number of 0 feedbacks.

Thoughts and Prayers are with Barbara and You.

I have to see a Dermatologist every three months for skin cancers. A couple have been Melanomas.

Stay aware, get checked regularly, stay out of the sum or use a high sunblock.

Hers is probably much worse, but diligence proves healthy - a good thought and Prayers help quite a bit also.

  5. If you degauss a cartridge, you eliminate any magnetic properties.

Also. to degauss, one needs a degausser such as the type to degauss your Tape Recording Heads and path but do not do it while the unit is on.

You have to physically run a degausser over whatever you are degaussing.

So what is the cost to degauss BS?

Understanding that we all can use support at times, and I thank those that have been giving me support, audio and prayer can go together. Music is given by those to whom the talent has been given.

The same with knowledge and equipment.

And with our lives - no matter the Deity, no matter if no belief, a good thought can be sent.

    Proper request will be done.

Thanks Dean for asking. Reasons do not always have to be revealed.

All the Best and I'll also send good thoughts as well.

  7. The Original Super Leads and the smaller were done by hand.

Hanging the tubes was thought to give better ventilation (yeah, right, maybe a fan?) and for space and wire saving purposes.

That way the controls could be where they are. Plus there was always the idiot thought that if the tubes were hanging a quicker change could be made if needed - pulling down easier than up. A hot tube doesn't care. Also hanging the tubes gives more space from the top.

They went to assembly line and quality went down.

I had a Traynor Bass Amp, eight ten inch speakers, rated for 200 watts. KT-88s hanging, but it had a fan ventilator.

Have a '63 Fender Precision that the former owner tear dropped like Entwhistle. Looking for a Vintage Body.

  8. A sincere wish for a Happy Father's Day to all of you Dads out there.

For my Father, I miss you, 54 years old was too young, 29 years now, it doesn't seem that long. I also wish a special Happy Father's Day to your new friend as the two of you looked at us trying to bring some K-Horns up to today's standards long distance. Thanks for the help.

For all Fathers that have passed, you're not forgotten, you're in Hearts and memories and always will be.

We hope that we've come to live to what you wished for us - thanks for your love and friendship.

For those that are not yet, or could not be Fathers, Nieces, Nephews and Friends that we have mentored have been given to us.

    Blessings on All.

With Respect, Love and Memories Thanks,

  9. When I saw the Farewell 1, one of the members said that they could do as many as they wanted just keep changing the number - paraphrased from memory.

It's amazing how well Walsh does play - he kind of talks 39 watts short of a 60 watt lightbulb.

    Burned out acting.

The Cinema, Buffalo Road in Gates, NY. Face slashed several times with a straight razor.

Huge parking lots where there's no problem vandalizing a car, or stealing it.

If that happens to you in a mall, theater parking lot, store parking lot - NOT meant to cause anyone to sue the owners, but subpoena the outside lot Security tape. It's amazing how often no-one reviews them or some Officers don't think to look at them.

Most think they're at home or THEIR ticket price allows them to talk, rustle candy wrappers or let their kids run around.

  11. Greetings:

I Have a combination Zenith TV with a VCR unit built in.

Model is SMV 1941S-A, 4 head.

Somehow a tape became stuck, Turn power on (same button controls TV/VCR), can hear the motor over-working, will not eject, play, FF, REW, after about 45 seconds Power shuts down.

Any ideas on how to remove the stuck tape? No matter if it will be used for VCR function again.

    Thanks, I appreciate any advice.

To note: one inserts tape, tape drops down for play/record. Wanted for TV function 98% of the time.

    Again, my thanks,

    We can all be cynical.

That said, if Trey or Amy still have his email address, is it Possible for them to contact him and let him know of a mistake?

If there is a contradiction, most would question. But the right thing has been done, you've proven that you will state when wrong.

Maybe another chance can be had.

  13. A number of things contributed. Poor quality vinyl.

Radio Stations starting to play songs a bit fast as in the '50s.

    Commpresser-Limiters.

    Poorer pay for Engineers.

After some of the marathon recording sessions of the '60s, limits were imposed.

Eight Tracks, Cassettes, heading to CDs

    Drugs or excessive drinking

Quality of Amplifiers - Tubed or Solid State - notably for bass plus the guitars themselves hit a low period.

    Advent of Electronic Keyboards.

But there were some good recordings. One point about "Let It Be" is there are two versions. The most noticeable difference is the Guitar solo - one heavy with reverb, one more "Claptonish."

On some of the CD releases of those LPs, one can have quite some time searching for the high end also - Layla comes to mind.

But all of us are famous and special in our own way. Because many people do not know our names, that does not diminish our own contributions.

I've emailed with many members of the Forum, talked with people at Klipsch - Hope and Indy. Emailed with Allan Songer - famous in his own right. And a great person.

If you took my lists away and just included the People I call Friend, and include those who are doing something special for me. I know some very famous people.

Some very great people have done things that made me look good, when they did all of the work - Audible Nectar and Gilbert with Timmikid's MC-30s. I read emails from Audible.

So I feel Blessed for the "Named" People I have met, but moreso the really famous, to me - Daddy Dee, Silversport, Dr. Bill, Jennie C. Pam, Clueless, Fini, Picky, Amy, some of the "Named."

    My little take, carry on.
