  1. Hello @R1c0, @itsmeray, @CH315, @Dlayhue01 I just came across this thread otherwise I would have replied sooner. I use the Surround 3's with my soundbars. First, I had a BAR 48 so I know all about those issues. I too was given a Cinema 600 as a warranty replacement so I know all about the Cinema 600 issues too. My Cinema 600 died completely after a couple of months. I had just updated the firmware to the latest version a few days before Klipsch pulled that update. While Klipsch is pretty good about providing warranty replacements, if you are within the warranty period, the Cinema 600 doesn't really qualify as a replacement for the BAR 48. The BAR has more features than does the Cinema 600 and, while a warranty replacement doesn't have to be the same model, it does have to have compatible or better features than the model it is replacing. Both the BAR series and the Cinema series soundbars have major reliability issues, especially the BAR 48 and the Cinema 600. The most recently manufactured Cinema 600's are labeled Rev 3. 😞 When I pointed out to Klipsch that the BAR 48 specs had features not present in the Cinema 600, they replaced my dead Cinema 600 with a Cinema 800 that had just been released. Through all of this, my Surround 3's never gave me any problems. Here are some suggestions how to troubleshoot Surround 3 pairing issues. Move the Surround 3's close to the soundbar, say 3 to 5 feet, just in case there are any signal strength or interference issues. Move any bluetooth or Wi-Fi devices that could cause interference away from your soundbar. Make sure the switch on the back of the Surround 3's are set correctly: One should be in the "L" position; the other in the "R" position. If only one of the Surround 3 speakers is paired, try reversing the switches on the back so that left becomes right and right becomes left and try to pair them again. If the same physical speaker again pairs successfully, that would suggest the other speaker has an issue. If however the other speaker pairs successfully it would suggest that the soundbar is only able to pair to a specific channel (either the left or the right) and the failure to pairing is due to an issue with the soundbar. If you haven't done so already, I suggest you read these Cinema 600 articles.
  2. purchased Cinema 600 with sub system (manufacturer refurbished) surround 3 speakers (manufacturer refurbished) and a dongle directly from Klipsch (brand new) all purchased separately
  3. Like some of you already have, I just wanted to join in and say "Thank You!!" especially to SixerfFixer for starting this thread and everyone else that has contributed. I was able to get my cinema 600 up and running again yesterday thanks to the awesome info here, so grateful. Wanted to also share what I did if it can help anyone else. I have a cinema 600 with the sub and surround 3's that I bought at the end of 2020 and mine went out in the same fashion that most others have described mid year 2023. The system had been nothing short of amazing up to that point with no issues and sound that would fill not only our basement but almost the whole house. So when the sound bar initially went down I was heartbroken! Life has been busy so my sound bar has been sitting idle since it stopped working with the intent to eventually fix it or try and get a replacement. I got serious about it this past week and went the route of repairing the original power supply. I liked the idea of keeping the original power supply if possible and not using an aftermarket one even though it sounds like you can certainly go that route with success if you choose to do so. After reading this thread from start to finish I felt confident that I could replace the cap's on the 5v side and that would almost definitely do the trick...and it did. I only replaced cap's C05 & C06 (220uf 16V) on the original power supply. After removing the glue from the connections I disconnected all the power hookups to the power supply and completely removed it from the sound bar. I'm a diy'er and fairly mechanically skilled. Never soldered before but after a couple google searches on the basics of soldering and how to remover soldered capacitors from a circuit board it really wasn't bad. Definitely takes a steady hand but if your careful and have patience many of you I bet could do it. From taking everything apart to putting it back together I probably spent 1 1/2 - 2 hours, and that was with some interruptions from kiddos. Again, thanks everyone for this awesome thread. Now we are having dance parties and movie nights again with proper theatre quality sound!!
  4. I'm facing an issue with my Cinema 700 system (Costco version of Cinema 800), which is connected to a Sony X91CJ TV. Recently, I added a pair of Surround 3 speakers to the setup. However, I've been experiencing audio issues even before integrating the Surround 3, and this persists when WIFI is disconnected, suggesting that signal interference is unlikely to be the cause.
  5. Hello @dissatisfied buyer and welcome to the Klipsch Community forums. Klipsch has been very good at honouring their warranty and providing warranty replacements. I have a Cinema 800 with Surround 3s. The current firmware resolves most of the major firmware issues although the soundbar still must be power cycled occasionally to regain audio. Once you manually install the firmware Klipsch provide and connect your soundbar to your network (wired or WiFi), the soundbar will automatically update the firmware when newer firmware becomes available.
  6. My suggestion would be to return it to wherever you bought it, if it's not too late. The BAR series had (has?) lots of reliability issues. Your Surround 3's will work with the newer Cinema series 600, 700, & 800. While these soundbars have also had their issues most have now been resolved. They are a big improvement over the BAR series. What's more, the price of these soundbars has recently been reduced significantly. The Cinema 700/800 would be a replacement for the BAR 48.
  7. I have the exact same problem with my Cinema 800 and it has been this way since I bought it in 2021. I also have the surround 3s but I am using an LG C1 for my TV. I have seen this reported for the Cinema 1200 as well but I have yet to see a root cause or a fix identified. I have done troubleshooting with Klipsch support but nothing resolves the issue.
  8. ,,,,,, @johndt are you using the Surround 3
  9. Thanks for the reply and checking my testing logic. I’d normally agree with you except the noise only emits from the soundbar and not the surround speakers. I’ve experienced the squeal and pop noise from the surround 3 in the past and realized it was interference being caused by the Wi-Fi router. That has since been resolved by relocating the router. But you do have me thinking if there is a chance the transmitter for the Surround 3s are a potential cause?
  10. the power supply fails very often with these units , but the unit powers on off , so , ruled out - it could be the logic board , but since you are doing resets and firmware updates , with success , ruled out as well -it could also be wireless interference with the .Klipsch Surround 3 speakers ..this appears to me to be the most likely cause of the noise ,
  11. For the last 2 years, I’ve been dealing with an intermittent issue on my Klipsch Cinema 800 sound bar. It is connected to a Sony Bravia XBR65A8H via HDMI eARC. I also have a pair of Surround 3 speakers. The soundbar powers on and off with the Bravia. Every so often, the speakers will emit a low squealing noise when they turn on with the tv. The display comes up and I am able to change the volume, but there is no audio from the content on the tv. I have tried to power down the soundbar while it’s in this state, but the eARC connection causes it to power back on automatically when it recognizes the active input on the tv. The only way to reset the soundbar is to unplug it, wait for a few seconds and plug it back in. It works for 1-3 weeks and then it happens again. I’ve reached out to Klipsch support about this but they seem to be bewildered by the cause. I’ve done factory resets, firmware re-flashes, and changed the HDMI cable twice. Has anyone else experienced this and found a resolution, or does anyone have any ideas on a potential cause for the issue? I’m thinking I could use an optical cable, but then I’m limited on audio format support to Dolby Digital and not Dolby Digital Plus.
Grazie
  13. Just fixed my Cinema 600 today. Confirming that the white wire is Ground. Thanks to @SixerFixerand all who contributed to this thread. Now, can I get some help with the annoying, intermittent chirps coming from my Surround 3s? 🙂
  14. Hi @allanwmurray, These are all the support articles for the Cinema 600. I suggest you read through them and the posts in this thread. Klipsch Cinema series product documentation, in my opinion, is rather poor. It is best if you read through existing posts to get an idea of capabilities and limitations. The input source does not affect how the Surround 3 speakers work. Sources other than HDMI/Optical are limited to mono or stereo. I had a first generation Cinema 600 and found that the overall sound and the sound from the Surround 3 speakers was disappointing. There have been a number of improvements since then so, hopefully, things are better now. This is all that Klipsch has to say about Cinema 600 - Sound Modes. On my Cinema 600, if I remember correctly, the ((SUR)) would only enable/disable the sound from the Surround 3 speakers. It would enable/disable Virtual Surround if Surround 3 speakers were not connected. The Cinema 800, although more expensive, is a much better product. The sound is fantastic and it will use your existing Surround 3 speakers.
  15. Hi everyone does the klipsch soundbars from the 600 upwards have Dolby Pro Logic decoding built in for creating surround sound from stereo broadcasts as i couldnt find anything mentioned on the klipsch website. Does the surround 3 speakers work when the soundbar is recieving stereo signals v HDMI or optical
  16. Welcome to the Klipsch Community forums. As I mentioned to JB19 in my previous post, review other Cinema 800 and Cinema 1200 posts. It's unfortunate but information is dispersed among a dozen different threads. The Cinema 800 and Cinema 1200 have a lot in common and you will find useful information in the Cinema 1200 threads too. Others have also reported that crackling sound. While the Surround 3 speakers could be defective, the issue might also be resolved with a firmware update to your soundbar which will update the firmware in your surrounds. The first thing you should do is Submit a request to Klipsch Product support. Describe your issue and provide them with your current firmware versions. To do that, see this article: Cinema 800 - How to Check Firmware Versions.
  17. i just bought surround 3 for my cinema 800 im hearing crackling sound. What do I do?
  18. @Larry1974GD Re: Audio Quality There is a lot of information about things that can impact audio quality if you search online. There is no way this issue can be explained in a few paragraphs here. The sound levels you obtain when using an analogue or Bluetooth input depend on the source. If the sound from the soundbar is not loud enough, increase the sound level at the source. Again, audio quality also depends on the source material. If you are listening to old MP3 files, it doesn't matter what type of connection to the soundbar you have, the audio quality will be poor. Most TVs will pass through audio from one of its inputs to the HDMI-ARC as-is without converting it so while the HDMI-ARC (or eARC) has a much higher bandwidth than other connections and can support higher quality audio, it can't improve or change the audio quality it sees on its other inputs. If you are listening to audio only from external sources, you are better off connecting those sources directly to your Cinema 600 using the Digital (optical) input if you can. If not, use the analogue or Bluetooth inputs. You will get the best audio quality from your TV using the HDMI-ARC connection. This will allow you to use your TV's CEC functions to turn the soundbar on/off and control the volume using the TV remote. The Cinema 600 supports "Dolby Audio" but there are many types and only the most basic one, Dolby Digital, is supported. Dolby Digital can provide 5.1 surround sound via the HDMI-ARC or Digital connection but it cannot be considered high quality audio. Dolby Digital Plus can provide "CD Quality" audio but only via HDMI-ARC or HDMI-eARC. Unfortunately, the Cinema 600 cannot decode Dolby Digital Plus. If you want higher quality audio and higher sound levels from your Surround 3s, you might want to consider a Cinema 800. It will work with your existing Surround 3s. It has two HDMI connections on the soundbar so you will not be restricted by any limitations your TV may have. It supports Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Atmos, Dolby HD, and more. It supports HDMI-eARC so if your TV also has HDMI-eARC your soundbar will be able to process higher quality audio from your TV. Dolby Atmos provides precise positioning of specific sounds: front to back; left to right; up and down. The Cinema 800 does not support any up/down positioning and there is no way to connect additional speakers needed for full Atmos positioning but it does support Dolby Atmos, provides better positioning of sound than does Dolby Digital and provides much higher quality audio. I hope this helps...
  19. @Larry1974GD Re: Surround 3s The sound levels and sound quality delivered to the Surround 3s are determined by the firmware on the soundbar. Customers have been complaining about extremely low sound levels from their Surround 3s for a long time. Klipsch attempted to resolve these issues on the BAR 48 with a couple of firmware updates but I noticed very little difference after applying the updates. The Cinema 600 only provides very limited control of the Surround 3 volume and, in my opinion, it too is largely ineffective. See the Klipsch article: Cinema 600 - Surround Sound Level Adjustment with Surround 3's. I now have a Cinema 800. There have been three firmware updates since I've had this soundbar and the Surround 3s now produce adequate sound levels. The Cinema 800 firmware updates will also update the firmware on the attached surrounds and have resolved other issues like hissing and scratchy sounds that some customers have reported. Since I am using the same Surround 3s that I purchased with my BAR 48, I can only conclude that the majority of the issues affecting the Surround 3s are a result of the soundbar to which they are attached.
  20. I happen to like the sound bar a lot. It has more than enough bass for my area that I watch TV and listen to music. Although the Surround 3's are very low volume. I had one fail recently. It started having far lower than usually volume. It was barely audible with a lot of hissing static noise. I've spoken to Klipsch and I'm wait for them to verify my purchase from Amazon. For a replacement. Hopefully the new ones will have louder audio than the ones I had. I could barely notice them until I hit about 50% volume which is much to loud for my living situation. I rent in a smaller house the whole second floor of a nice home. It makes the paintings shake on the walls downstairs at that volume. The people I rent from are elderly and don't really watch TV. It is way to loud for them at that volume. I even used acoustic panels to lessen the volume perceived downstairs. I can't turn up the adjustment any more than 4 dots on the soundbar for the Surround 3's. Is there any way to improve that? I was also curious about improving my input audio to the soundbar. I use a pretty decent HDMI cable that's speed is 48gb per second from my computer. Is there an HDMI DAC with video pass through or am I stuck only using a DAC with the 3.5mm aux input. If using a conventional decent but no where near high quality balanced 3.5mm cable. It made for a much lower volume output from the soundbar compared to the ARC audio connection. I use it from my desktop PC into my TCL QLED TV. Then into the soundbar to take advantage of the TV's remote since I'm limited on desktop space. I have no expansion options on my desk due to the unusual cut out area built into the home I rent from. Is the aux 3.5mm input on the soundbar low quality or is it an inferior cable and DAC? I know the PC integrated DAC sucks but I made a small improvement using Equalizer APO using the Peace GUI and HeSuVi plug in software. It's short for Headphone Surround Virtualizations for Equalizer APO. Works great on headphones but with the quality of the connection to 3.5mm input on soundbar. Be it the cable, integrated DAC, or the aux jack to the soundbar is way to low compared to ARC HDMI. I do have plans to put a high quality sound card into my PC in the near future. Although it doesn't have HDMI and using that companies software will make a ton of improvement. Given no HDMI output. I seriously doubt the software will make much difference on the integrated HDMI output from the PC. What are my options using a DAC? I don't think many. I could only find 2 or 3 HDMI DACs. I'm hoping the low volume through aux was due to Realtek crap DAC from PC & a crap aux cable was the cause. I can use that connection via other devices and it plays loud. Hopefully the 3.5mm aux input on the soundbar isn't low quality as well. If anyone has a better way to improve my audio please let me know other than replacing it with component audio. Which isn't really much of an option in this location. It has all wood paneling along with the roof slope makes for an usual room geometry. Even the ceiling is wood paneling that I really don't want to damage or hang speakers from. I can't use Dolby Atmos speakers that bounce off the ceiling because it will reflect in an off sort of way. Ceiling speakers aren't an option either because of the depth between ceiling to roof area is only 6 to 8 inches at best. I am hoping others have gone down this road so that I may benefit from their experience. Regarding audio quality improvement for the Cinema 600 in the 5.1 configuration. Thank you for your help in advance, Larry D
  21. I was provided a Cinema 600 warranty replacement for my BAR 48 which had a multitude of issues. The BAR 48 was supposed to support Dolby Digital Plus which can provide CD quality audio but it never worked. I was never able to get Dolby Digital Plus working with my Cinema 600 then Klipsch admitted that the Cinema 600 doesn't support Dolby Digital Plus so the replacement didn't provide the same features that the BAR 48 was supposed to provide. Before I could discuss the matter with Klipsch, the Cinema 600 dropped dead! Long story short, I now have a Cinema 800 and still using the same Surround 3s that I purchased with my BAR 48. Most of My BAR 48 issues appear to have been resolved in the Cinema 600 and now my Cinema 800 supports Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby Atmos. The Cinema 800 is everything the BAR 48 should have been! The Cinema 800 has had its issues, most of which have been firmware related. Klipsch has just provided me with their latest firmware update which looks very promising. While the crackling sound you hear may be due to an issue with the Surround 3s, some customers have reported that issue has been resolved with the latest firmware update to their Cinema 800 soundbar which will also update the firmware in the Surround 3s. I understand your issues trying to get a warranty exchange on your Cinema 600. Klipsch may be more sympathetic if you explain that you had a BAR 48 with many issues, that you purchased the Cinema 600 as a replacement and didn't seek a warranty replacement on your BAR 48. You may still be able to return your new Cinema 600 to Best Buy and wrangle a Cinema 800 as a replacement from Klipsch, if you are lucky. Let us know what transpires.
  22. Update: My local Best Buy had a Cinema 600 in stock so I went ahead and purchased it since I suppose I can't learn my lesson and I desperately want Klipsch to be my brand, having used them almost exclusively since the early THX Promedia days. Anyway, I was comparing this new 600 to my old one and found something very interesting. On the back of the bar (as well as on the box), the model number is listed "Cinema 600-2". Oddly, on the back of my broken soundbar, the version is listed as "Cinema 600" which leads me to believe that there was, in fact, some kind of model update in the last year. Hope so, anyway! That said, so far, so good. My Surround 3's connected straight away (they were fussy getting connected to the old bar) and I'll be damned if the whole setup doesn't sound just a little better to boot. Also, the remote has a different feel than the previous one with the finish being more matte and the buttons have a distinct "clickiness" to them that was missing previously (that's a good thing). I'll keep everyone posted.
  23. I purchased a Cinema 600 soundbar in May 2021, which just died. Red light, won't power on. Went through the FW upgrade steps, still nothing; it's dead, Jim. I contacted Klipsch support and they wouldn't honor the warranty because I bought it open box through Best Buy which, honestly, is crap (but I get it). Worse, the Cinema 600 replaced an equally faulty Bar 48. Looking around the internet, I see a litany of similar stories and stumbled upon this (https://www.channelnews.com.au/is-the-klipsch-cinema-600-soundbar-being-recalled/) which leads me to believe this isn't isolated at all and Klipsch probably knows it. Here's the thing: I purchased the Surround 3's so I have the set up for a decent enough 5.1 should I choose to replace the Cinema 600. My question is: has the Cinema 600 been improved? Was the power supply issue addressed (which supposedly leads to the red light issue)? Will my Surround 3's still crackle and disconnect all the time if I purchase (yet another) Klipsch soundbar?
  24. @JB19, Welcome to the Klipsch forums. I'm sorry your soundbar is not behaving as expected. Can you provide a little more information about your setup? Does your setup include the Surround 3 speakers? How is your soundbar connected to your TV? Are your audio/video sources connected to your TV or directly to the soundbar? How? What are the soundbar firmware versions? See: Cinema 800 - How to Check Firmware Versions What Playback mode have you selected? Try Direct but you will likely want Standard. See: Cinema 800 - Decoding and Playback Modes I will provide additional information once you have responded. In the meantime, review other Cinema 800 and Cinema 1200 posts.
  25. Hi, Setup: - sound bar cinema 600 - 2 wireless surround 300 speakers placed max 10 feet away from the bar Both wireless speakers keep cutting out all the time. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
