  1. **New to the Forum** - I just purchased a pair of early 80's Heresys in great cosmetic condition. I was introduced to Klipsch at an early age because I grew up in a house with my dad's 70's Cornwalls. A few year's back, I had a 10" Reference Series sub gifted to me and I was impressed with it's bass output - especially paired with my cheaper JBL shelf system that I had at the time. I was very excited to find the Heresys in my local area, so I scooped them up since I am setting up (from scratch) a new system for my condo. I purchased a Denon AVR-S510BT receiver (700W) and hooked up the Heresys this evening, and I must say, I was extremely disappointed in the bass output. I have searched forums on here, and I have also read reviews on other sites, and it's clear that low end on the Heresys is not a strong point. However, I was not expecting virtually no bass whatsoever. Don't get me wrong, the highs sound fantastic - crisp and clear as day. I didn't expect them to be comparable to the Cornwall's by any means, but I did expect the 12" woofers in the Heresys to have similar output that the 10" Reference sub had. Am I way off base here? To be clear, I am by no means an audio expert. Since I have never heard a pair of Heresys before I don't know what to listen for, nor what their bass standard should be. The settings in the Denon are correct from what I have researched. I do not have any surround or center speakers. The settings are set for front speakers and are set on "Large" with no sub. I have checked the positive and negative on both speakers and they are hooked up correctly. Have I just been spoiled with the bass response on the Cornwalls? Should I just pair them with a sub? It's just hard for me to believe that a speaker made by Klipsch and marketed as "2/3 a Klipschorn" would have so little bass response. Any input would be welcomed.
  2. For sale: Near mint condition Klipsch RC-62II. I have owned this speaker for 2 years in a smoke free, child free home. Speaker has a very small scuff on right side (approximately 3/8" long) but otherwise is in absolute perfect condition. I unfortunately did not keep the original packaging but speaker will be protected well as I work for UPS and have access to shipping materials. I'm looking to get at least $300 and that's including shipping cost. Speaker does weigh just over 30lbs. Please message me if you are interested. I can send additional pictures if requested.
  3. I would love to know why the Klipsch woofers over the last ten years or so have succumbed to so many cosmetic issues. Almost every woofer since they switched over to the spun copper type have dings, dents, crinkles and whatever else... Why would Klipsch not figure out a cure for these issues? There are a ton of manufacturers that use aluminum, copper or alloy woofers that never have disfigurement issues like the Klipsch do. For the most part I understand that the cosmetic defects do not attribute directly to poor sound but my goodness, looking at listings on Audiogon, Ebay, US Audio Mart....you name it. It is very rare to see these speakers without significant damage to the woofers. I have never pushed my speakers to the point that they distort yet there are a few tiny dings in the woofers that make zero sense to me. I am sure if Klipsch invested a little time to come up with an answer and distribute a different alloy mix into the woofers there would be way less problems with the end result. I mean I am a huge fan of the Heritage series and I would take any of them hands down over the Reference lines. Good old paper cones, poly cones and what have you very rarely distort even when pushed past their limits. Even the older SB and KSB series speakers dig deeper in the bass than the reference speakers do and keep their shape intact doing it. After ten plus years, did no one think of re-configuring the new copper woofers?
  4. One owner, excellent condition RF52's, with the original shipping boxes! I cannot find any marks or blemishes on any of the surfaces of these speakers, they are in outstanding condition. These are not RF52II's. These are the original, older and slightly more affordable RF's. I used these as surrounds and ended up with RF52's as mains, they are nearly identical, I can tell no sonic differences, and aesthetics are incredibly minor. I bought the speakers as I had the money and they upgraded the line before I had completed the system! I have the original boxes and packaging materials so they will be safe to ship - buyer pays shipping. I am currently in Winston-Salem, NC, however I will be moving in a few months to Lexington, KY and making some what regular trips up there - if that influences any one's purchasing decisions. Click here for more images Please let me know if you have any questions! These were originally $329 Each - a total of $658 Retail. Buy the pair for $300!
  5. Greetings! So im new to the community and this is my first post! So far Ive enjoyed reading the conversations that this community has and now its time to get my feet wet as well . Here we go, I'm looking for a pair of reference series tower speakers to go with my RC-35 center channel. I just started building my surround setup (against my wife's will) and am on a very limited budget (aren't we all.) What I'm willing to pay is dependent on the condition and model of speakers. my maximum budget is $400 including shipping (if needed, I'm located close to Sacramento, CA.) Please PM me or comment if your looking to get rid of some speakers. PS:Any forum advise is also welcomed
