Danely15
Ok so my friend has a synergy set up.... F3 C2 or 3. and S2. had an old sony 5ch (barely) receiver. sounded alright. He just got a denon 1908.Im familiar with it. and the Sub 12 from hhgregg. hooked up receiver and everything. Center channel has a hum just when on cable. Have tried different audio jacks on receiver. still a hum. Switched cable boxes. still a hum. Ive heard a hum on subs but never on center. also we have to turn gain way down on sub so it doesnt hum... just on cable. dvd and ps2 are just fine. Any advice? the sub doesnt have a ground prong. either does cable box. so dont think it is a ground loop. Please help. Daniel
bhendrix
Hey, Daniel, The cable itself may be the source of the hum (ground loop). With the cable box selected, and the system humming, disconnect the cable from the cable box. If the hum goes away, the cable is the source. You can get a cable isolator from Parts Express for about $9. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=180-
tommyboy
How close is his center to the tv? There have been a few posts in the past about centers humming when too close to the tv. If his is real close together, have him move the center and see if that makes it stop...........
