Hey tommyboy, I two little things you can do to make them a little bit better. 1. Use a Y-splitter with them: I noticed since I added the Y-Splitter the bass carries a stronger note a little longer, Its kinda hard to tell if you take a long time inbetween using 1 or not using 1. I mean I was doing it fast with a song with bass and I heard the note last a tiny bit longer. Some say using a Y-Splitter is the same as turning your gain up 3db, I say it's much more then that. 2. Use a carpet under them: I did it and the bass hit harder, when I heard it hit you should have seen my eyes. [] The surprise look on my face. I went to a 'Dollar Store' and bought 2 carpets for $5 each. I couldn't imagine having any more thump in our room than we do now! Everything on our walls is hung with double sided tape to prevent shaking, etc. but the walls still rattle really bad! I don't know iif it's what's inside them or what, but we get some pretty bad rattling. the other night we were watching Eagle Eye, and I knocked one of the "nick nacks" off the dvd rack. Needless to say, she wasn't too happy about it............. She just looked at me and said "I can't wait until you get your stupid HT room". I said me either........... The added power from the y-splitter and harder hit with the carpet I turn the gain down, but by having the Y-Splitter, carpet and gain turned down it sounds better and not boomy. carbon summit Posted January 22, 2009 Share Posted January 22, 2009 If I have my subs on carpet already there would be no point in the carpet right? I'm assuming you have wood floors. I might have to try putting my subs on both sides of my TV which puts them between the Forte IIs and the TV. I notice on setup guides it says to put the sub in a front corner and and have the speakers in front and to the side a bit. Has anyone tried that? I really don't have the room and have now have my speakers about 6in from the wall. I know that is too close and hurts the bass response but when I got the sub I backed them up to have more open space in the room since the sub should be doing the work now. I had first hooked the onkyo 805 up to the HTiB speaker expecting them to blow, I mean I was waiting to hear a pop. It never happened, the darn cheap HTiB speakers were sounding good. I couldn't wait to hook up the Klipsch set. I was truely in aww hearing the difference with HD sound. I remember it being Casino Royale on blu-ray. It sounds better the new way. That forum I'm on, the guys are really into speaker placement. I was going for a wider sound stage with my fronts and by doing that I only had room to place the subs on the inside. By having that wide sound stage it sounds really good. Didn't want to deal with any early reflection issues. I'd rather have the subs in the corners...... And now, my TV/setup is so close to my listening position, in my room it sounds better with the towers in, and subs out. When I first got into this audio thing, I was told to think of a perfect triangle, and have your mains/listening position form one. So if your speakers are 8' apart, which mine are, and my listening position is 8' away, it makes a perfect triangle. Sounds great! Better imaging, etc........... All rooms are different, and the room can make or break your system. Even if no one had ever told me that, I've definitely learned that. Having the speakers slightly angled at the listening position to make that triangle. Mines are 8 feet apart counting from the center of the woofer to the center of the other woofer, but my sitting area is more around 12 feet away. You have a cabinet in the same spot as I have my sub's. I am limited on the space I have. I couldn't have the cabinet's, speaker's and sub's like you have.
