I was looking for a set of active monitors for my Avid video editing workstation at work and saw these. Crikey. Love to hear what they sound like... I'll probably have to settle for less, a lot less, as I really LIKE my job. Dave

Mallette
Thanks, Bill. If it were for me, there are a number of possibilities. But, for work, the speakers need to be active and we have an account with B&H, which makes it easy. I am going with: M-Audio Studiophile BX8a Deluxe 130W 8" Studio Reference Monitors (Pair) Bi-Amplified Design 8" Kevlar Woofer 1.25" Tweeter Rear-Ported Design XLR and 1/4" Inputs Magnetically Shielded more info Mfr # 9900-52685-00 B&H # MABX8AD They are near field, reasonable price, active, small, and come from a line that gets 5 star reviews. ...and it's easy. Dell T7400 Xeon workstation with dual 22" widescreens and a killer SoundMAX HD audio section. Damn the recession, full speed ahead! Ricci
I haven't heard those bad boys but i have heard various other Genelec's lower down the line. Good stuff. I've also spent quite a bit of time mixing on those M-Audio's last year and I'll be honest I like the Mackie HR824's and even Behringer's much better. The M Audio's just didn't seem as neutral to me. More like a normal Hifi kind of sound with a bit of extra warmth in the low mids and upper bass. I don't know, it could've been the guys set-up/ room though.
