2channel settings vs HT Settings

While watching movies i know the sub carries the LFE

and in 2 channel its just a certain Hz range whatever

you set it too if im correct. Now heres my question.

For HT while watching movies in 5.1/6.1 i have all my

speakers set for small. I only have SB-3's so I want

my sub to get the bass. Now in 2 channel audio listening

to CDs and stuff when i change it from large or small

the sub is equually as loud and the mids sound nicer

and punchier with 0 distortion. would it be better to

run my mains as large for 2 channel audio? I know for HT

they def go on small so the sub gets the full LFE.

Thanks in advance,

Good question. I prefer to run my mains SMALL while thinking LARGE. On the other hand, if I ACT small while running the mains LARGE, I can sometimes fool myself into thinking largely small thoughts.

The trick comes when you think LARGE, set it Small, and wind up with more large than you know what to do with!

My poor wife has mentioned various versions of this theory but they all involve devices run with D batteries. One thing that is a plus is that the peformance is not compromised with battery power as AC will likely cause more HUM. Although, at times, HUM can be a positive thing.

Indeed, it gets far too technical and sordid from this point on...

I would say with the RB-3s keep you mains small, cause that KSW-12 can handle all the bass you throw at it.

In my setup, I keep the mains big (RF-5) as my sub woofer is a Sony laughing stock.

If your receiver is simular to mine (Sony STR-333ES), try listening to music WITHOUT any DSP/Sound Fields (No, don't even use 2ch Auto Format Detect). It is sans sub-woofer (Large fronts here might sound better), however there is a blanket of sludge in the Sony DSP. Just run EQ with straight 2 channel. The difference on the ES line is incredable. So much quality is lost when the DSP starts playing with things. It's really a shame, cause the ES amp seem very solid.
