Professor Thump
The sun was still setting while Snow Patrol played. They showed total musicianship with all of there songs. Unfortunatley the lighting was poor to view the stage.
Professor Thump
Beings the trickter that I am... I happened to have brought bonoculars. So I had decided to experiment multiple lenses with my blackberry camera. This is what I ended up with.
Professor Thump
As the sun was setting Coldplay came on. Here is a picture of the venue with the Jumbotron TV.
Professor Thump
As the daylight receded the contrast became more of an issue for the camera. I hate tiny lenses!
Professor Thump
Big beachballs were let loose through the crowd.
Professor Thump
The stage is coming alive with lights. There were spheres also on stage with videow projectors inside that would project a spherical shape. There must have been some bad *** optics inside that. Does anyone know how that works? Professor Thump
How many watts ya gots. There is certainly a lot of power consumed in this stage lighting.
Professor Thump
Well these certainly are not the best pictures but it is clear that Coldplay can put on an awesome concert. The colors on the stage are increadible.
Professor Thump
More color of Blue...
Professor Thump
So our theory paid off in spades. The band did come to our remote little stage. Playing Mandolins and Acoustic Guitars and a Harmonica.
Professor Thump
So there you have it... Coldplay giving their all in good ol' Indianapolis, Indiana.
dgoreck
Not that is that old of a topic, but, had to bring this up after just seeing U2 and Muse @ Giant Stadium. The stage, and sound system is unbelievable. Tremedous amounts of bass. Found this link which gives some details of the system. http://clairglobal.com/u2/ Massive indeed. michael hurd
Some awesome pictures in this thread, I will try to take some good pictures when I go to see Collective Soul again in the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium on October 11th. TBCA site: http://www.tbca.com/ I saw Collective Soul here many years ago, and they rocked the house something fierce, looking forward to it again. colterphoto1
WOW, check this from the U2/Clair site "Monitor duties for U2 360° are shared between Dave Skaff, Niall Slevinand Alistair McMillan. Both Slevin and McMillan mix on DiGiCo SD7s,with one assigned to Bono and another for The Edge. Skaff mans aDigidesign D-Show Pro for bassist Adam Clayton, drummer Larry MullenJr. and an offstage keyboard player, Terry Lawless. With the virtuallysubterranean location of “monitor underworld,” the three have no directsight lines with the band, and work off video monitors. michael hurd
Here's a shot of the left side of the stage, I was told that Collective Soul wasn't touring with their own rig, they were using most of the house system with some of their own stuff. In any case, 6 Meyer Sound trap boxes clustered and flown over 6 double 18" bins per side, and this is in a 1500 seat venue. Needless to say, there is never really an issue of not generating enough output for any seat in the house.
michael hurd
A shot of the right side of the auditorium with the roof, 2nd and 3rd row balconies in the picture.
michael hurd
As close as I could get before being asked to go back to my seat by the staff... the security there is pretty brutal... they won't let you near the stage if you aren't seated in those seats. Needless to say at this distance from the subs... my shirt was flapping in the breeze. [8-|]
michael hurd
A shot of the crowd from my forward vantage point... looking backwards on an angle. FOH mix position is at the rear of the hall.
michael hurd
It seems like a lot of bands are moving to LED lighting effects, combined with the Roto-flower effects, as well as the old stand-by the PAR cans. At any rate, the guy running the lighting board had his hands full all night... it wasn't programmed.
michael hurd
More shots of the lighting... some of the strobe effects were like staring into the sun...
