Make your own interconnects question

Recommended Posts

Good grade 3 conductor mic wire is good stock for interconnects. This allows two strands for signal and one for shield. The per foot cost is pretty reasonable.

I can't remember the specifics of how the shield is done, but the shield is connected to one lead on one end only. I believe the shield works best the connected end is connected to the amp.

A forum member built some nice interconnects for me put together in this way.

Try to find a place that sells Mogami microphone cable.

The Mogami is way better than other cable that I have tried. For example, the starands do not break when you work with it.

For ends I use these: http://cgi.ebay.com/12-GLS-Audio-RCA-Plugs-24K-Gold-Component-HD-Plug-%23RS12_W0QQitemZ220355909220QQcmdZViewItem

The Mogami cable can also be used for balanced as it is shielded. I use Neutrix ends in that app (about $3 each)

Here is the good stuff:

This place in Salt Lake sells it:

Here is the Quad Wire:

How much do you need? I wouldn't mind getting more, I am about out of spare wire.

By the way, this is very high quality wire, not "mid level" and it is priced right.
