nytejade
Hey there, just wanted to share my experience with my ProMedia 5.1 Ultras. Purchased back in 2004, they started making a horrible squealing noise a few weeks ago. A little research on this site pointed me to one of the BASH chips. I wiggled it around and sure enough the sound would come back, but only for a short time. Naturally, I wanted to get it repaired. I called Klipsch, but apparently they don't service this system anymore, so I decided to attempt repair myself. After a bit more research, and a few e-mails and phone calls, I ended up at Harman Audio. They were one of the few places that actually stocked the HC1011 BASH Chip. Once I received it, it was a relatively simple swap. The only soldering experience I have was from 2 years ago when I installed a mod chip in a Wii. Other than that, I have no experience soldering. The system now works perfectly. Like new. My concern is that these BASH chips will eventually be hard to find, and the person at the parts department didn't mention a "successor" to this chip that we could use in its place. Mister_Clean
Excellent, how would I go about orderingthe bash ship myself? I checked out their site real quickbut they make no mention of klipsch. But I would like to order that chip as well, any help would be appreciated.

elliot-tronics
Just so you know, if the power supply does not get upgraded/repaired the BASH IC will die again in a matter of days or weeks, the faulty power supply is what kills the BASH IC, just letting you know.. nytejade
No kidding. Well, where do i get a new power supply?
elliot-tronics
Nobody sells it, you have to send your amp to get repaired/upgraded. Elliott

oibctl
nytejade, I saw your post on the Klipsh forum and wanted to touch base with you. I am a fellow New Yorker from Mineola LI, I am in the Air Force and have not lived in NY for 28 years. I have the promedia system and it no longer works. I think it got shaken around during a recent move. I was very disappointed to unpack it and get no sound from it. Your post indicates the fix may be in replacement of the amp chips from Harmon, and an upgrade to the power supply. I will call Harmon tommorow. Are they the source of the power supply repair as well? Please provide any info you think would be helpful to get my system up and running in the shortest and cost effective manner. Thanks in advance! Chris 757 268 5180
nytejade
I just want to update / end this thread since I get enough responses to justify it... elliot-tronics was on the money... I replaced the BASH IC and all was fine for about 1 week, then it crapped its pants again. I had 2 new BASH chips, both died quickly. Since I didn't want to go through the hassle of shipping out the sub and getting it repaired, I opted to buy a different 5.1 setup. I'm still using the Klipsch satellites with this new setup.
