pukebileforever
So for $15 a buddy of mine sells me a bunch of stereo equipment his dad gave him because he can't figure out how to set it up. There was a Yamaha A-720II amp and Sansui SE7 EQ, and 2 speakers in heavy black wood cabinets. I was able to date the eq and amp around 1980, so tmaybe the speakers were made around then, too. No label on the speakers just a number stamped into the wood on the back of each. So I open them up and find the brand Klipsch. The woofer, tweeter, and squaker all are Klipsch and have serial numbers too, but no sticker on the back giving me the make/model of the speakers. So after an hour of internet search I figured I'd post here. Does anybody know what kind they are and when they were made. I'll post the serial numbers below. One speaker has the serial # 128w480 stamped on the back. The other has the # 129w009. As for the components inside: tweeter- K-77-M squaker- k-55-v woofer- k-22-r
colterphoto1
That'll be a Heresy from early 80's. Worth about $300 per pair in decent, working condition.

pukebileforever
Diggin the quick response. Thanks guys for the info. These things sound awesome. Quite an upgrade from the computer speakers I had my turntable hooked up to. One of the speakers cuts out every once in a while but I think the amp they are hooked up to needs to be cleaned. I'm gonna try that tonight. The username was an inside joke with an old buddy of mine. He was making fun of people that act "overly punk rock". I've been using the name constantly for years after that. One more question. Should I attempt to clean these things at all? I get the impression they've been sitting around since the 80's. My friend told me his dad said to him they should be cleaned because of "tar buildup from smoking tons of cigarettes around them for a long time". I've never heard of this and I doubt that it's legit, but you never know. I am concerned about dust though.
