felix
Hello dear Community! I must say that I am very proud indeed to anounce that I have risen into the ranks of proud owners of Klipsch Heresy speakers. Only one thing is a bit strange with the pair that I aquired. They have very different serials and different woofers. 5K598 has a red surrounded woofer 6L157 has the usual black surrounded woofer both speakers dont show the written klipsch logo but only the company logo in top right corner. both speakers were built by Iris Powell and have been tested by NW Bradford... I am baffeled as to why there are such big differences in one pair, both speakers are in wonderful condition and I am only 3rd owner. Could anyone tell me why these speakers have different woofers or tell me how much age difference there is. Thank you already, Happy to be a Heresy owner, SOOOO happy!!! jtnfoley
Another Top Notch reply! Looks like K=1972, L=1973. I believe the 5 and 6 prefixes are months (may and june) and the numeric suffixes are serial number. Don't quote me on the month/serial tho! felix
1972 and 1973 in one pair... mystery!!! wonder how they came to be together. There is no audible sound difference though, maybe a slightly stronger bass on the red surrounded woofered speaker. Must say that my BIC venturi Formula's sound a bit tinny now. Why do american speakers from the 70's have such a great sound??? HORN'S??? Vintage audio is bliss!!! Wish I had room an money to buy La Scala speakers..... Thank you for your quick help jtnfoley! Running with NAD model 90 (1st series) Project debut (sadly can't afford more on student money) Denon DCD-2560 Denon DRS-

gnatnoop
Congrats! My first Klipsch's were H2's in the early 80's, excellent speakers, know you'll enjoy.
Islander
Why do american speakers from the 70's have such a great sound??? HORN'S??? It's not the vintage, it's the brand. Klipsch speakers have a great sound. The Heresies (1957-1985) sound great, the Heresy IIs (1985-2005) are improved over them, and the Heresy IIIs (2006-present) are improved even more.Glad to hear you're liking the sound of your Heresies! felix
"It's not the vintage, it's the brand." I can't explain how great they sound, it's like having a band play in your 15m² room! Must say that the bass response is already really brilliant with the heresy I's, wonder how much it improved with the consecutive models. Heresies!!! I will never sell them off again!!! Now that everybody keeps saying that the III's are even better, I really can't wait to hear a pair! Wish I had the money to get them together with the La Scala II. Maybe in 10 years.... LOL! KLIPSCH!!! Was in Camden Barfly 3 years ago during a trip to london, they use La Scala as mains!!! The Bass blew my mind back then, can't imagine the feeling of owning these beauties and throwing on one of my favrorite LP's.... the neigbours would kill me in a day!! LOL Can't understand why Klipsch is polarising the hifi community for the last 50 years, why do some people not like the klipsch sound??? It's not tinny at all and bass response with my NAD 90 is wonderfull. Sadly don't own any Tube Amps yet.... Well all in good time. "Glad to hear you're liking the sound of your Heresies!" I LOVE IT!!!!
