DrewHaupt
Picked up one of these bad boys yesterday. Coupled it with the Klipsch Quintet and a Yamaha RX-V565. Now, I am no audiophile and I don't pretend to be, so I need some help. This sub has a low pass crossover adjust and a gain adjust. I know the gain adjust is basically a volume control, but I have no clue where the low pass crossover should be set. Any recommendations? After some research it looks like 80Hz is a good starting point. One place mentioned cranking it all the way to 120Hz, but that doesn't seem right because you don't want that frequenecy signal going through the sub, right? wuzzzer
General subwoofer settings: Phase at 0 Gain to 10 or 11 o'clock Crossover as high as it can go, only if your receiver allows you to control your subwoofer's crossover. If it does, start with 80Hz and see how that sounds. You might need to raise it a bit due to the fact that the Quintet speakers don't play that deep of bass and you don't want a big hole in the frequency range between the Quintets and your sub. DrewHaupt
I have a Yamaha RX-V565 by the way. I'm not sure if it controls it or not to be honest. I am currently running a signal cable from the reciever to the "line in" port of the sub. Out of curiousity, would I get better sound out of a Y cable or would it make no difference? If so, I don't think I have seen a subwoofer cable with a Y end.
Mr. RF62
Some say the Y cable adds a little to the signal equalling a little bit more volume. Your receiver should have the controls mentioned above for x-over frequency and level. Just a Y adapter/cable on one end of the sub cable will work.
