Subwoofer SW-12 & LaScala Question

I feel the need for a bit more of a lower end to my 2-channel system. Will a SW-12 mate with the LaScala's? I prefer to have a tighter bass since this is a dedicated music system. Although I have not heard the SW-15, I am concerned that a big ole 15 inch sub may be too sloppy for music. Should I be concerned with the smaller woofer in the SW-12? Also, what's a reasonable price for the SW-12 in very good condition?

Thanks much,

Gary

I have and use both of the subs that you asked about and I use them with my La Scalas on a dedicated 2 channel music system.

Fine sound for music from both the 12 and the 15.

You just need to dial them in...

I paid $400 for my minty SW-15 and $300 for my minty SW-12.

PS, I have an SW-10 as well and found it to be quite good as well - I only retired it because I bought the SW-15.

My SW-10 is less than mint and I only paid $100 for it (in Black.)

A 15' subwoofer can be as accurate (musical?) as any other driver. LaScalas have a 15" woofer. A 12" woofer is not big enough to be a real subwoofer, it cannot move enough air. A single SW-12 or SW-15 will be insufficient for your system. You will need at least 2 SW-15s, or 3 SW-12s, to come even close to matching the output and unusually low bass distortion of La Scalas. A single RSW-15 can do it. With the Big Heritage speakers you have to begin thinking about overkill when looking at subwoofers and then double them.
