maxg
These are the big brothers of my amps. They are push pull and made locally by Tsakiridis Devices. The version shown is the 150 wpc version with the smaller bulbs (Svetlana's I think). You can also specify them with 6550 WE Sovteks to get up to 200 wpc (I assume that means you can also swap these out for KT88's as I have done). These were on display at a local hiend show - and yes - he is using all 4 of them to bi-amp a pair of speakers (unfortunately I cant remember which ones). Just thought I would share. ------------------ 2 * Heresy 2 (mains) 2 * Homemade horn speakers (rears) 1 * REL Strata 3 sub Accuphase E211 amp. SOUNDJUNKIE
BEAUTIFUL, I REALLY MUST get out more often!! I think though they have some sort of "New England Border Authority" that prevents stuff like this from getting into CT.
NOSValves
200 WPC tube Amp !! I wonder if they are rated like the Vintage Tube Amps or if it is a Actual Watts rating. If they are rated on the low side like all the Vintage stuff. I couldn't trust myself I would blow my speakers to Hell and back with it . ------------------ HH Scott Tube FM Tuner LT-110B HH Scott Tube Amp 222C HH Scott Turn Table P-87 Sony DE-975 AV Receiver Sony NS-900P DVD Sony CD 5 DISC C315 Syenrgy SF-2 mains KSC-C1 Center Channel KSW-15 Sub SS-1 Surrounds Promedia 5.1 for the PC
mobile homeless
Too many watts from a quality amplifier with a good circuit (either tube or solid state)RARELY blows speakers. It is the quality of watts that is the most important here given common sense usage. Obviously, there are limitations here but what is far more harmful to speakers is an amplifier with terrible clipping and overload characteristics overdriven as this type of distortion tends to be far more harmful than quality power higher than the max speaker rating. kh This message has been edited by mobile homeless on 03-11-2002 at 10:58 AM
