Correct speaker wire gauge for HD 300

Hello! I just purchased a new Sony STR DH700 and an HD 300 theater system. I'm new to Klipsch, and can't wait to hear the quality (I got the receiver on clearance, and it should work fine for what I need - I can always upgrade again later). I currently run a 12 gauge wire for my current system, but the Klipsch site suggests to use a 16 to 20 gauge wire. One reason I would go with the smaller wire is because we will be relocating soon, and I don't want to drill holes in the floor. I could hide a smaller wire more easily. Will it make any difference what size wire I use? Thanks in advance for your help.

Try to keep the wire from laying on the damp ground, any hardware store will have some type if insulated stapels for nailing the wire to your floor joists.

You can use regular staples but you need to be extra careful not to short out the wire.

12 gauge wire should be fine for longer runs.
