oldenough
My craftsman 500 amp shows that it should use KT66 tubes, installed at the moment are a pair of Sylvania 6L6, though they are both Sylvania they look to be constructed slightly differently. The paper work that came with the amp also indicates a 5881 tube can be used. After a little research I saw that there are many types of 6L6, Anybody want to enlighten me on the differences, and recommend replacements. This is all new to me, so please excuse my ignorance. seti
I had a 5881 tube amp and it could take 5881 kt66 350B most 6l6's but not all. The different tubes required different bias points. The tung sol 5881's are very nice but pricey.

russ69
Look up the spec charts for the tubes you are looking at, the nominal bias voltage and other values will tell you what will work and what won't.
