Hoenig
So here is what I have: Pioneer Elite VSX-90T, Pair of Beautiful Forte II's (Oak), a pair of Walnut Forte I's, and a RT-10 sub. I am trying to make the best of what I have and do not know the best way to go about it. It will be going in a basement. I am thinking using the Forte II's as main/fronts, having the center turned to "phantom", and using the Forte I's as rears. Sub will be placed in back corner of room. I guess you could consider this a 4.0 system (until I get the WAF for a Academy). Thoughts or suggestions? I mainly listen to music (loud) and occasionally watch a movie...... Frank1938
Listen to both and choose the forté that pleases you most. I like the sound of both but prefer the IIs over the Is. Some like the forté I better. See what your preference is.
Hoenig
I like the II's better myself as well. The question is whether the 4 speaker system would work for good detailed surround sound? I know it will be loud ( the forte II alone were loud). Should I set the rear speakers up as true rears or should I try and play them all "stereo" mode? You will have to excuse my ignorance as I am just learning. I think I am headed in the right direction as far as equipment, just looking for guidance as to how to set it up for the best overall sound. wuzzzer
Nothing wrong with a great 4.1 system which you have. Funny, I have oak Forte II fronts and walnut Forte I surrounds also! Definitely do the surround setup rather than 4 channel stereo.
