jrod
It's tough (almost impossible) to find newer bands with a really soulful, meaningful sound. The Black Keys have just that sound. They are relatively new (formed in 2001) but when you listen to them you think they could have existed decades ago. Do yourself a favor and give this band a listen. If you like rough, bluesy, almost-grimmy rock; you will not be disappointed. That is all. Jrod
Boxx
I'll give them a listen... Thanks for the tip. Also, your "setup" pictures look great....
jrod
Thanks for the kind words Boxx! Yes, please do give them a listen. A truely great band. Forum member "handrewmoore" has some great links to them in the "2-channel" section. I started the same thread over there. Really good stuff. jrod
Boxx, Ha! Just looked at your gear...WOW. Truely humbled in your presence. Fantastic stuff. I hope to accomplish that level of Klipsch'dom (not to mention Mac'dom) at some point in my life!! Incredible.
Arky
Was going to netflix but looks like they don't carry any multi-channel sound.
inder19
Came accross them by chance while looking at new music on iTunes. Their new album is really good. Wish I had seen your recommendation earlier. I would suggest anyone here to give them a listen. I find the instruments sound like music rather than noise like on a lot of other new bands. Rivernuggets
Give their older stuff a listen also. More rough/bluesy. The Big Come Up and Thickfreakness are not to be missed.
gnatnoop
this thread pushed me to give "brothers" another try, putting it on now..
Rivernuggets
I also need to give that another spin. First couple listens didn't hit me nearly as hard as Thickfreakness. Another one to try is Chulahoma. It's a 6 song EP of Junior Kimbrough covers.
gnatnoop
i'll be on the lookout for those, 2nd listening was great, funny how that happens sometimes....
askbob1
If you Really like The Black Keys, you gotta check this performance out. I've seen a couple other performances of theirs, but this one tops them all. Fast Forward through the sonic youth disaster... Enjoy! http://video.pbs.org/video/1757512915/
