RF-7s v/s KLF 30s

Hello von!

I agree with Doug on this one. The 30's have a little stronger bottom end than the RF-7's but certainly not enough to justify a switch.

You would get a lot more bang for your buck by buying an RSW 15.

Based on the responses there doesn't seem to be much difference between the RF-7s and the KLF-30s. That I should stay on track and invest in one or two SVS subs to pick up the extra bass.

Can the KLF-30s be purchased new?

or

What are the KLF-30s valued at USED, per pair?

Vonrebel... no one doubts that I like KLF-30's... or that I like bass since I have a pair of the first SVS Ultras ever made. I like live music concerts... and the KLF-30's give me that "up close and personal" sound of live music... that is typical of a horn based speaker... which the KLF-30 is and the RF-7 is not... except, of course for the horn tweeter.

Don't misunderstand...the RF-7's are a great cone engineering feat. They have an accuracy and a smooth audiophile style that makes them stand-out performers.

The KLF-30's can be harsh... particularly on poorly recorded source material. They are very revealing and a bit brighter by most accounts.

You will be hard pressed to find new ones because they don't make them any more and there has been a flurry of activity to buy up any stragglers.

I use the KLF-30's for HT... and my pride and joy is the custom KLF-30 Center Speaker you see pictured below. I like the Klipschorn, Belle, Cornwall, Academy route for the music. Speaking of Cornwall, you may be very happy if you could land a pair. They have a 15" woofer and they really sing on the music side of this audio world.

Enjoy your search. -HornEd

I just think it's really tough to get the bottom end to match up perfectly with the top (efficiency wise) unless one goes with horn loaded bass or multiple, massive subs.

Personally, I like the balance of the RF7 -- I can't stand a fat, bloated bass, which is so often found with the majority of towers -- even very expensive ones.

I wouldn't trade the tightness and sense of speed of the RF7 for anything out there --
